Eli sent Joanna to the hospital and requested two bodyguards to watch over her outside the ward.
Joanna sobbed and exclaimed, “Eli! You rascal! Why do you obey your boss so blindly?”
Eli paused before closing the door. He looked into the ward, his expression turning gloomy. The door slammed shut, blocking out Joanna’s crying and insults
He left the hospital and texted, “Mr. Greer, everything has been taken care of.”
The dark and eerie sky loomed over Yerwick, the air incredibly fresh after the rain. Just as Eli prepared to depart, a prison vehicle pulled up alongside him.
Moments later, two uniformed personnel emerged. The medical staff from the hospital’s emergency department rushed out, too.
One of them was on the phone, saying, “We’ve arrived.
Just as the man was about to go to the emergency department, Ell called out, “Officer Thompson!”
“Mr. Barnes,” Liam Thompson rushed over to Eli respectfully.
“What happened to Sonny Alpers?” Eli glanced inside.
“Oh, you mean 2823? I’m not sure how he ended up with food poisoning last time. Today, he suddenly felt unwell after dinner and started foaming at the mouth during the night. So I immediately took him to the hospital,” Liam explained, his face filled with deep concern.
Eli was slightly surprised. “Food poisoning?”
Liam nodded. “Yeah. It happened quite some time ago. We checked the food he ate later and found nothing wrong. We’re still investigating this issue.”
Eli replied, “I see. Is it severe?”
Liam chuckled and then replied seriously, “It was quite severe the last time, and he was on the verge of death. But, this time he seems to be doing better, having been found in time. He’s a key figure in Mr. Greer’s case, and we’re closely monitoring him. Rest assured, he’ll be alright.”
Eli frowned, finding it strange. Accidents should never occur in a place like a prison.
He then nodded and said, “Understood, Officer Thompson. Please keep a close watch on him.”
Just as Liam was about to enter the hospital, Eli suddenly exclaimed, “Officer Thompson!” Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
Llam turned around. “Yes?”
“Can task you a favor?” asked Eli.
“What’s it?” Liam asked politely.
Eli asked firmly and carefully, “Can you please send me all of Sonny’s prison visit records from now on?”
Liam was taken aback and wondered why he suddenly requested this. However, knowing it came from.
Ell, it must be connected to Winston, Liam agreed directly. “Sure.”
Eli smiled. “Thank you for your help, Officer Thompson, Mr. Greer mentioned that he wants to treat you all
to a meal another day as a reward for everyone’s efforts.”
“Oh, he doesn’t have to,” Liam smiled and returned to his work.
Eli stood there, watching Liam walk away. He couldn’t help but reflect on the conversation with Sonny when he and Winston visited him in prison that day. Did Joanna truly rescue Winston that year?
He couldn’t help but gaze up at the building where the inpatient department was located. Joanna was so fearful of death. Would she truly be willing to sacrifice her own life to save Winston?
As he pondered over this, a multitude of questions flooded his mind. It was evident that this situation. demanded further investigation. After all, Sonny’s case of food poisoning was exceptionally peculiar.
On Saturday, Millie stayed in bed until noon. When she finally went downstairs, she spotted Arthur sunbathing in the backyard. She decided to grab her breakfast and join him for a relaxing sunbath.
Arthur observed her closely. “You’re finally awake.”
Millie yawned and took a bite of her sandwich, while Arthur turned on his iPad.
