Devoted Love, Mr. Hayes’ Darling Wife

Chapter 938: If you smile, I’m not bitter.

On the table, instead, was a stewed fish.

Severo Laris handed her the chopsticks and said with a faint smile, “Look for them.”

Paula Rouco took her chopsticks and poked at a large piece of fish. When she lifted the chopsticks, she saw the belly of the fish stuffed with eggplant.

There was a flash of surprise in her eyes, “Can you still do fish and eggplant like that?”.

Severo Laris picked up an eggplant toothpick and put it in his mouth, “Eat it.”

Paula Rouco opened her mouth and ate it, the eggplant was juicy and tasty.

“Is it good?”

Paula Rouco nodded, “Delicious, is it hard to make?”.

Severo Laris tried it himself and it did taste good: “It’s not difficult, you hollow out the belly of the fish and stuff it with marinated eggplant and bean paste together, then you red roast all the fish normally, and during the red roasting process, the bean paste placed on the belly of the fish spills out and mixes with the flavors of the red roasted fish. It’s a bit like grilled fish.”

Paula Rouco ate a huge plate of rice in the evening and lots of fish and eggplant.

But not long after, she threw up.

Severo Laris took care of her for a long time before taking her to the bedroom.

Paula Rouco drank some warm boiled water and her stomach felt much better.

Severo Laris watched her as she changed her cell phone.

Paula Rouco, hugging her blanket, rubbed up against her and asked, “What are you doing?”

In the night, Severo Laris smashed the phone and now takes the phone card and replaces it in another phone.

“Costillas broke my phone, get a new one.”

Paula Rouco emitted an “oh” and rested her chin on Severo Laris’ shoulder.

Severo Laris replaced the calling card and turned his eyes to look at her, reaching out to stroke her back through the blankets. “Feeling better?”

“I still want to throw up.”

Severo Laris’ eyes widened a few shades; Albarran Bail had told him during the day at the hospital that, next, Paula Rouco might face all kinds of pain, vomiting, even muscle tremors and panic attacks.

Without medication, these problems won’t go away.

But when she takes medicine, her whole being becomes sluggish.

Those drugs have the effect of suppressing depression, but they also damage the body and affect the central nervous system.

Her lita has always been very smart and learns things quickly. He explains math problems to her and it doesn’t take her long to understand and learn from them.

Unlike other girls who, whether they study advanced math or anything else, don’t know anything about it no matter how hard they study it.

She is very smart.

That’s why Severo Laris is even more intolerant of her becoming retarded because of medication.

Severo Laris lifted her against his chest, picked up the children’s book next to him and asked, “What story do you want to hear today?”

“The Giraffe’s Wish.”

Severo Laris turned to the giraffe’s wish and at the end of his sentence, Severo Laris looked at the man in his arms and asked, “Do you know what the giraffe’s wish is?”

Paula Rouco leaned into his arms and said, “I want my friend to give me a kiss.”

Severo Laris looked down and kissed her forehead, “Your wish is granted.”

Paula Rouco snuggled into his arms, her small hands clinging to his slim, strong waist affectionately.

She looked up at him with her little face, “Severo, do you know why the sea is blue?”.

Severo Laris looked at her with a soft, warm look, “Because of the light?”.

“Because there are many fish in the sea and the fish spit bubbles and make them blue … and the sea turns blue.”

The heaviness and melancholy in Severo Laris’ gaze dissipated immediately as he touched the little girl’s face in his arms, “lita, can you smile?”

“Why are you laughing?”

“Because of my coffee, I forgot to add sugar.”

With that said, Paula Rouco smiled.

Very sweet.

Severo Laris instantly felt less bitter.

He bowed his head, rested it against Paula Rouco’s forehead and closed his eyes.

It was a moment of relief.

Paula Rouco looked at him earnestly, “I’ll smile at you every day from now on, but don’t let those men take me away, okay?”

Severo Laris hugged her tightly and said, “Okay.”

Those people, he meant the ones at the hospital.

She was so reluctant to enter the hospital that Severo Laris could hardly imagine the pain she suffered when she underwent her mandatory treatment there.

Severo Laris dare not think about it.

About to go to bed, Paula Rouco sets the alarm clock.

It is the 9 a. m. alarm.

Severo Laris rubbed his little face and asked quietly, “Why did you set it so early, when you could have gotten up later?”

Paula Rouco obediently lay down and pulled the covers over herself, “To get up for breakfast and run.”

Severo Laris’ heart, with a jolt, received a somewhat painful blow.

Fearing mandatory hospitalization, I decided to be a good boy and get up early, have breakfast and go for a run.

Severo Laris felt very bitter.

And there’s nothing you can do about it.

Paula Rouco ate a lot the next morning.

Severo Laris looked a little dismayed and took the sandwich out of her hand, “If you can’t eat it, don’t eat it, don’t force yourself.”

Paula Rouco got up, dragged him away and said she was going for a run.

Severo Laris was not in the mood and, knowing she didn’t want to run, he pulled her and said, “Take the day off and start again tomorrow.”

Paula Rouco stole a glance at him and asked in a whisper, “So, this won’t work?”

“Even machines have a time off, let alone you, you just started running, you need to do it slowly, it’s a bad day, stay home.”

Paula Rouco paces around the chalet courtyard and the cottage, literally.

She accompanied Costillas several times around the block.

Severo Laris can’t say what he feels.

Paula Rouco was talking on the phone to someone while lunch was being prepared.

Little Beanstalk was sick with a cold and cough and said she wanted to see her.

Paula Rouco was concerned and told her to take care of herself.

Paula Rouco had finished talking on the phone when Severo Laris finished making lunch and came over.

Severo Laris asked, “On the phone with who, Susana?”

Paula Rouco said, “It’s little Beanstalk, she’s sick.”

Severo Laris frowned, sat down next to her and asked, “What’s wrong with the little beanstalk?”

“Little Beanstalk has a cold, Severo, and I want to go to Imperial to get little Beanstalk.”

Severo Laris stroked his head and said, “Can it be a while longer? I can’t get away now.”

Her problem, for a moment, was that Severo Laris didn’t dare to casually take her out of The Holy City for fear that something might happen and she wouldn’t be able to contact Albarran Bail in time.

Paula Rouco was at a bit of a loss, “Can I go get the bean sprouts myself?”.

Severo Laris looked at her helplessly, “I’m not comfortable with you being alone.”

“You can take me to the airport and when I get on the plane, if you are worried about it, you can ask Rufio and Susana to pick me up at the airport and Susana will stay with me and I won’t have any problems.”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Severo Laris wondered a little, “The little beanstalk sprouts are so important, huh?”.

“Little Beanstalk is very poor, she has no father, her mother is very busy and has no time to take care of her, I’m afraid that if little Beanstalk has a fever and her mother is gone, will something happen to her?”

Severo Laris looked at her worried and said, “So, do you know the address of the little beanstalk’s house, can I ask Rufio and Susana to go and see the little beanstalk, what do you think?”

“No.” Paula Rouco flatly refused.

“What’s wrong?”

Paula Rouco said, “Frijolito doesn’t know Rufio and Susana, he gets scared.”

Severo Laris pondered for a moment and said, “Then, in a little while, I’ll go with you to Imperial to get the small bean sprouts, okay? But until then, don’t go alone.”

Paula Rouco agreed with some reluctance.

In the afternoon, Paula Rouco had also had a coughing fit, a bad one.

Thinking she had caught a cold, Severo Laris reached out and touched her forehead, which fortunately was not hot.

Stare at it and drink lots of water.

Paula Rouco’s mind, however, was wandering and distracted all day.
