Chapter 939: Is this little Beanstalk’s house?
Late in the afternoon, Severo Laris was in the kitchen cooking.
A sharp knock was heard from upstairs.
Severo Laris went upstairs and pushed open the bedroom door to find Paula Rouco lying on the bed in pain, her face pale and glistening with cold sweat, as she reached out and knocked over a vase of flowers.
The vase shattered on the floor, spilling the water from the vase all over the floor.
Severo Laris strides over to her and scoops her up in his arms, his large hands ruffling her long hair stuck to her cheeks with sweat.
Paula Rouco coughed incessantly, her hands clutching at the shirt around Severo Laris’ waist as she said faintly, “Severo, I’m very sick.”
Severo Laris’ first thought was that he had a fever and he reached out to feel his forehead, which was not warm.
But, anyway, he brought the thermometer close to him and stuck it under his armpit.
I took my temperature and it was 36, 7 degrees, and I didn’t have a low-grade fever, it was a normal temperature.
It’s not so bad if you have a cold.
Severo Laris had no choice but to hug her, kiss her head and say in a muffled voice, “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Paula Rouco resisted going to the hospital, “No, I don’t want to go to the hospital.”
“We’re not going to be hospitalized, we’re just going to see why we’re coughing.”
“I’m going to be hospitalized.” Paula Rouco had completely forgotten the doctor and the hospital in her mind.
Because the doctors, and the hospital, were treating her like a complete psychopath and she didn’t believe them.
Her eyes were slightly reddened, her almond-shaped eyes were starry with tears, and she looked so pitiful that Severo Laris could not resist her plea.
Severo Laris got a lump in his throat and his large hand stroked her back as he said, “I’m going downstairs to get you a glass of water, so don’t move.”
Severo Laris took the time to go downstairs to get some water and make a phone call to Albarran Bail.
Albarran Bail had just been in a meeting with some specialists, the phone was slow to pick up and Severo Laris was in a bad mood.
“Why does Paula Rouco have a cough, is it also due to depression?”
Albarran Bail, over there, pinched his forehead with a big head, “Professor Laris, how can our doctors diagnose a patient if they don’t bring him to the hospital to be seen by our doctors? The cough could be a cold, or a fever, maybe it has nothing to do with depression.”
“Her temperature was taken, she showed no signs of fever, I kept an eye on her and it’s unlikely that she suddenly got a cold.”
Albarran Bail has one head and two heads, Paula Rouco coughs all of a sudden and how is she going to know why?
Severo Laris thinks he has opened his eyes, that he can see the cause of a patient’s illness without even going to the hospital for a diagnosis?
But for his boss’s sake, Albarran Bail said patiently, “A cough is not usually related to depression, it could be a sore throat, Professor Laris, and you shouldn’t be overly concerned.”
Albarran Bail couldn’t say why, but Severo Laris couldn’t help a huff at the thought of Paula Rouco’s painful cough.
“I didn’t invite you back for posturing, Albarran Bail, and if you can’t, I can always fill in for you.”
“…”
Albarran Bail gritted his teeth, furious, unable to take it anymore, “Severo Laris, don’t bring your emotions to work, even if you are my boss and you give me tens of millions in shares, you can’t use me as your punching bag, I asked you to take Paula Rouco to the hospital to be treated and you didn’t want to. Okay, that’s your freedom. But now you’re asking me to diagnose Paula Rouco over the phone, ask any doctor if they can handle such a difficult question from you.”
Severo Laris took a deep breath, his eyes violent and impetuous, but the gentleman in his bones and his ability to distinguish right from wrong were not entirely lost after all, and he closed his eyes and said, “I’m sorry.”
Albarran Bail was silent for a moment and placated his anger by saying, “Paula Rouco’s coughing symptoms need not be related to mental illness, but don’t rule out that maybe they are, and I can’t give you an answer until you take her to the hospital for further diagnosis. Other than that, I can’t help you, and even if you were to fire me now, my answer would be the same: for any diagnosis or treatment, the doctor must see the patient.”
With these words, Albarran Bail hung up the phone.
Severo Laris listens to the busy beep on the phone and leans back on the couch in silence for a few moments.
His eyes are empty.
Until Paula Rouco rushes out of the bedroom and rushes downstairs, Severo Laris stops her and grabs her arm with his big hand.
“Lita, what are you doing?”
Paula Rouco said nervously, “Severo, I’m going to the Imperial. ”NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
Severo Laris frowned, “What’s the point of going to the Imperial, you’re not feeling well right now…”.
Before he could finish the sentence, Paula Rouco interrupted him and said in anguish, “Severo, the little bean must be very sick, I just called her and she was crying a lot, her mother wasn’t home, she said she wanted to see me and she kept coughing.”
The more Severo Laris listened, the more he became suspicious, “Is the little bean coughing too?”
“Well, he’s coughing a lot, Severo, will you let me go to Imperial, I want to go to Frijolito and I’ll come back when I’ve bought the medicine for Frijolito.”
Severo Laris hugged her and analyzed sensibly, “lita, even if you hurry to go to Imperial now, it will take you at least two or three hours, give me Frijolito’s address and phone number, I will ask Rufio to deliver the medicine to Frijolito, there will be no delay.”
Paula Rouco hesitated and froze, looking at Severo Laris.
Severo Laris looked at her with a deep and genuine look, “lita, listen, even if we get here as fast as we can, frijolito may not be able to wait, Rufio and Susana are in Imperial and can get to frijolito’s house as fast as they can.”
Paula Rouco was half convinced, but felt that the solution proposed by Severo Laris was the best.
Severo Laris, seeing that she had steadied herself a bit, put his arm around her and sat her on the edge of the sofa.
“Tell me the address of the little bean and I’ll have Rufio go now.”
Paula Rouco said, “The Little Bean’s house is at La Villa Rouco, building 12, 601.”
Severo Laris, slightly stunned, touched her cheek with his big hand and asked softly, “lita, are you sure this is the address? When you say La Villa Rouco, is it the same La Villa Rouco we had before in the ImperialImperial neighborhood next door?”
Paula Rouco stared at him and nodded, “I’m sure.”
But 601 in block 12, it’s their apartment in the Imperial block, it’s exactly the same.
Severo Laris did not expect such a coincidence.
Paula Rouco urged from the side: “Severo, call Rufio quickly, the little beaner is in a difficult situation”.
Severo Laris immediately called Rufio, gave him the address and told him to go immediately to La Villa Rouco to get the little bean.
If he is very sick, ask Rufio to take the little bean sprout to the hospital for treatment first.
…
Villa Rouco is not too far from town and Rufio drove there in no time.
When Rufio arrived at 601 La Villa Rouco 12, he rang the doorbell and the door quickly opened.
When the door opened, it was an old woman with half-white hair.
Thinking it was Little Beanstalk’s grandmother, Rufio asked, “Grandma, is this Little Beanstalk’s house, please?”
The old woman frowned, puzzled, “Beanstalk? What little beanstalk?”
Rufio thought he had the wrong door and looked at the door number again, it was 601.
“Grandma, is it building 12, 601, please?”
The old woman thought Rufio was a bit odd and said impatiently, “Yes, what’s your problem?”
“Isn’t your granddaughter’s name Little Bean?”
The old woman glared at him, “We have bean sprouts at home, but my children are not called bean sprouts, and besides, we are not grandchildren, I only have one grandson.”
Rufio: “Grandma, is there a child named Little Bean in this building?”
The old woman was so annoyed that she waved her hand, “Where is there a Little Bean Sprout? I basically know the names of all the children in this building, and there isn’t one named Little Bean Sprout! You’re looking in the wrong place! Do you want anything else? I’m locking up.”
The door slammed shut.
Rufio eats a mouthful of doorstops.
