Chapter 312 Stubborn and Strong
Sitting in the car, Eric Lowe said to her, “There will be many valuable antiques, jewelry, and paintings at today’s auction. If there’s anything you like, let me know, and I’ll buy it for you.”
“I don’t mean anything else by it. You’re Joan’s daughter-in-law, and in my eyes, you’re like a daughter too.” He added.
Freya smiled, “I’m not really interested in those things.”
“I enjoy collecting antique paintings. In the past, it was always her who accompanied me.” Said Eric. Mentioning Joan Nash, a touch of sadness appeared on his face.
Freya changed the subject and asked, “Are the people who come today all very wealthy?”
Ordinary people couldn’t afford this kind of auction.
“Yes, most of the wealthy from around the world will come.” Said he.
In a way, this was also a pastime for the rich.
Freya nodded. By this time, the car had arrived at the venue. There were many luxury cars outside. Many of them were limited editions, and Freya recognized almost all of them because Elijah had them. Even if there were some he rarely drove, he still owned them.
Men like buying cars, just like women like buying clothes, right?
Eric led her inside, where they needed to verify their identities at the entrance. Since Eric was a regular customer of this auction house, he said the person next to him was his daughter. He had indeed brought his daughter here before, so they were able to enter smoothly. The people at the entrance showed respect to Eric Lowe, clearly recognizing him.
“If I didn’t come, would you still be able to enter?” Freya asked, although her tone already implied certainty.
Eric chuckled, “You’ve seen through me. I just thought you were too tired and wanted to take you out to relax. But when I said my Sacha went back home, I wasn’t lying to you. She really did go to investigate Joan’s gravesite.”
“He doesn’t want you to know, you won’t be able to find out.”
Eric looked at her. “You know him well.”
“I do have some understanding of him, but mostly I know his temper.” Said Freya.
Eric found their seat with the numbered card and they sat down, with many people already present.
“Sacha is not my biological daughter.” Eric suddenly said.
Freya was surprised by his sudden words. With her mask on, her bright eyes were visible. Her curly eyelashes blinked.
Eric sighed and said, “Joan and I didn’t have any children. It’s probably the biggest regret of my life. Her health was poor, and I was missing a kidney.”
Although the doctors said he still had reproductive capabilities, Joan Nash’s body was no longer suitable for childbirth.
“Sacha is the child we adopted from the orphanage. We raised her as our own daughter.” Eric said.
Freya seemed to recall Joan Nash telling her that her daughter, Sacha Lowe, was already twenty years old. Joan Nash and Eric Lowe had only been together for a little over a decade. No wonder their ages didn’t match up, it turned out their daughter was adopted.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
“She went back home to investigate Joan’s gravesite. It’s possible she’ll come into contact with Elijah. Are you afraid?” asked Eric.
Freya sensed the meaning behind Eric Lowe’s words and said, “He has the right to choose anyone.”
He had the right to choose the person he loved.
Freya tilted her head back. She had her own dignity and pride. She loved him, liked him, and it would hurt to leave him. But she didn’t want everything he did for her to be because of Kai. If he didn’t love her, she would give him freedom and the right to choose who he liked, instead of using a child to hold him hostage. That was one of the reasons she left.
Eric looked at Freya with an admiring gaze in his eyes. “You’re a stubborn and strong woman.”
Freya smiled and said, “I take that as a compliment.”
“It was meant as a compliment. But, unlike you, I went for whom I like, I seized our relationship, I possessed it, even if she didn’t love me.” Eric said.
Freya knew Joan Nash’s feelings and said, “Perhaps she did love you.”
Eric Lowe smiled briefly, believing Freya was comforting him.
As they were talking, the auction venue had already filled up with people. Inadvertently, Freya glanced and saw someone sitting at table number 33 on the right side in front, and her expression changed in an instant.
