Chapter 281 I Know You’re Heartbroken, I Am Too
Freya turned around and saw that it was Orion. She panicked and quickly explained, “I was just guessing.”Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
She had only voiced her thoughts because Elijah was by her side. Who would have thought that Orion would come over! Orion had come to send them off, but unexpectedly overheard Freya’s words. He didn’t believe it was Luna either, but now he considered the high possibility of it being Zane. Zane was young, impulsive, and seemed like someone who could do such things.
“Today is your wedding day, you must be busy, right? Why did you come here?” Freya deliberately changed the topic.
Orion said, “I came to send you off.” He hesitated for a moment and said to Freya, “Pass on a message to Luna for me.”
“What message?”
“Just…” Orion’s words trailed off. “Forget it.” It seemed like saying anything now was meaningless. He had indeed let down his relationship with Luna.
When Freya arrived, she had been driven here by a chauffeur, but now she asked the driver to return and decided to ride with Elijah.
“Freya,” Orion stood in front of the car door. “I won’t pursue Zane this time, but if there’s a next time, I won’t be so lenient with him. He can insult me, but Haley is innocent. She shouldn’t suffer such abuse.”
Freya explained again, “I said I was just guessing.”
“Besides him, no one else would do such a thing,” Orion concluded that it was Zane who did it.
Freya didn’t like Orion being so judgmental. “I see.” After saying that, she rolled up the car window. Orion sensed that Freya was a little upset, but he didn’t pursue it further.
The car drove away.
“Are you unhappy?” asked Elijah.
Freya shook her head, “Not really, I just don’t like Orion’s attitude. I said it was Zane because you were by my side. You know I was just guessing, and you wouldn’t draw any substantial conclusions from what I said. But Orion, without any evidence, jumped to conclusions directly, and I find it hard to accept.”
“Hmm,” Elijah responded lightly.
Freya suddenly looked at him and asked, “Are you coming back with me?”
Elijah’s eyelashes flickered, and his dark eyes didn’t look at her. “I still have some things to take care of.” The underlying message was, I won’t go back with you. Freya felt extremely disappointed inside. But on the surface, she remained calm and indifferent.
“Well, I know you’re busy with work,” she pretended to understand.
She showed that she understood.
Afterward, neither of them spoke. The car was silent.
Before long, they arrived at their residence. Freya pushed open the car door, and Elijah suddenly grabbed her hand. Her hand was cold, and there was a thin layer of sweat on her palm.
He started wanting to talk about Joan Nash, but he couldn’t say anything. Freya understood his hesitation and said, “I know, I’ll wait for you.” She turned around and gave him a bright smile. Suddenly, she leaned forward and lightly kissed him on the lips. As she pulled away, her voice was hoarse, “I know you’re heartbroken, I am too.”
After saying that, she didn’t look back and got out of the car. With her head held high, she walked briskly towards the house. Elijah watched her slender figure, and his black pupils grew deeper and deeper. Evan glanced at his boss through the rearview mirror and cautiously said, “I can tell that she’s in a lot of pain.”
Obviously, Freya was pretending to be calm.
“Shouldn’t you give her a chance to explain?” asked Evan.
They could have been fine since it was clearly they both cared about each other. But now, they were torturing each other.
Elijah ignored his words and said, “Just drive.” He thought if Freya was innocent in this matter, she had the chance to explain to herself. But she hadn’t given any explanation. Did he have to be carefree and heartless and be with a woman who had caused his mother’s death?
Their residence.
Freya stood by the window, quietly lifting the curtain to peek at the car outside. In the end, he didn’t get out of the car. He just left like this.
Suddenly, she felt dizzy, and her body fell straight to the ground.
Linda saw it and quickly rushed over, “Ma’am…”
“Ma’am…”
