Chapter 270 Bitter Pain
Freya quickly recalled the words she had said, wondering if she had said something wrong.Content © copyrighted by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Mom, what did I deceive you about?”
“Did you have a fight with Elijah?” Elowen asked perceptively.
Freya perked up. “No, we’re fine. Mom, are you hoping for something bad to happen to me?”
“Of course, I want the best for you, but I’m worried…”
“You’re overthinking it. We’re really good,” Freya asserted.
“Really?” Elowen still had some concerns.
“Really, why would I lie to you? We’re really good, so don’t worry and fuss over nothing.”
Elowen thought for a moment and realized that she might have been overthinking it.
“Okay.” Elowen seemed a bit disappointed. “It’s been so long since I’ve seen you both. I miss you.”
“I’ll bring Kai to see you, it’s the same.”
“What do you mean it’s the same? You and Elijah are married now, Elijah is my son-in-law. As the saying goes, a son-in-law is like half a son.”
Freya thought about her current relationship with Elijah, feeling gloomy. She tried to make her voice sound normal. “Mom, I still have work. After I finish work, I’ll bring Kai home. Buy more groceries, we’ll all have dinner together.”
Elowen indulged her. “Okay.”
After hanging up the phone, Freya continued reading. After work, she returned home and took Kai to the Stone family. Elowen had already prepared the meal, a table full of delicious food, an incredibly lavish spread. It was clear that she had put effort and time into it, a masterpiece. Seeing Kai, Elowen became even more affectionate.
“Oh, Kai has grown chubby, taller, and fairer, just like Elijah.” Elowen examined Kai from head to toe.
Freya also looked at her son, and indeed, he resembled Elijah.
“Oh, by the way, do you remember the wedding date I showed you last time? The weather has turned cooler now, and the date is approaching. You can start preparing.”
Freya’s heart tightened. At this point, Elijah probably had already forgotten about it, right? Even if he hadn’t forgotten, it wouldn’t be possible to have a wedding at this time. She changed the subject. “Mom, I’m attending a wedding. What should I wear?”
“Whose wedding?” Elowen asked.
“Orion,” Freya replied.
“What did you say?!”
Suddenly, an incredible exclamation came from the doorway. Freya looked over and saw Zane standing at the entrance. She was speechless for a moment before finally speaking up, “When did you come back?”
“Just now,” Zane answered. He quickly walked in and grabbed Freya’s arm. “Is what you said true? Orion is getting married?”
Freya nodded. “Yes, but don’t tell Luna.”
Zane sneered. “Why can’t we tell her? If he dares to do it, why can’t we talk about it?”
Freya explained. “It’s not that Orion doesn’t want us to talk about it, it’s me. Luna and Orion just broke up not long ago, and now he’s getting married. I’m afraid if she finds out, she won’t be able to handle it…”
“She has to experience a deep pain in order to truly forget him. Why keep it a secret? She needs to know so she can move on!” Zane said.
Freya fell silent. Zane’s words seemed to make some sense.
“I’ll call her now and make her give up, not hold on to any illusions anymore.” Zane took out his phone and was about to dial Luna’s number.
Freya stepped forward, wanting to stop him, but Elowen held her back and shook her head. “Let him make the call.”
“Huh?” Freya was puzzled by Elowen’s attitude.
Elowen leaned in close to Freya’s ear and whispered softly…
