You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 208 Bankruptcy Announcement

“The baby?” Arwen’s body swayed.

If Colton’s affair was a bolt from the blue, then Elara being pregnant was a thousand times more shocking and unacceptable. Thorne couldn’t contain his anger and threw a punch at Colton’s face. Colton groaned and fell to the ground, unable to get up.

Arwen was stunned for a moment, quickly stepping in to stop her son, scolding him in a low voice, “What are you doing?”

No matter how angry he was, he couldn’t resort to violence. After all, Colton was his father. Men had their pride, and Arwen didn’t want Colton to think poorly of Thorne. Arwen pulled her son away, afraid that things would escalate further.

“It seems like only your grandfather can deal with him now,” Arwen said.

She realized that Colton was beyond redemption. The muscles on Thorne’s face twitched. He was furious.

“I have to find someone to get rid of this woman.” Thorne roared.

Arwen didn’t say anything to stop him because she had the same thought.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Get in the car first,” Arwen pulled her son, fearing he would do something impulsive in front of Colton.

Thorne bent down and got in the car. His phone in his pocket suddenly rang, and Thorne reached for it. It was a call from Evan.

“Something’s happened.”

Thorne was already seething with anger, and hearing that something had happened made his face even more grim.

“What did you say?”

Evan repeated clearly, “Something’s happened. I was deceived. The money you invested in me, I bought a chip, but now the person on the other side has disappeared.”

Thorne almost burst into a fit of rage, barely stopping himself from saying, “Are you an idiot?” Everything was going wrong, and he was so furious that he kicked the front seat, causing it to tilt forward and shake the entire car compartment.

“What’s going on? Did something happen?” Arwen asked.

Thorne looked at his mother and swallowed the words he wanted to say. She was already mentally exhausted from Colton’s situation, and if he told her about the investment going wrong, it would only add to her distress.

“It’s nothing, Mom. You go ahead, I have some things to take care of. Don’t worry, I’m really fine here.” Thorne tried to make his voice sound steady.

Arwen didn’t think much of it.

Thorne got off the car and walked to the side of the road while talking to Evan, “Let’s meet up right away.”

Evan agreed, “Okay.”

“Where are you? I’ll come find you.” Thorne hailed a taxi.

“I’m at the office right now.” Evan said.

Thorne gave the address to the driver and hung up the phone.

On the other end, Evan glanced at the abruptly ended call, sneered, and had a hint of a smile on his face. The angrier Thorne became, the more successful their plan was! He sat down on the boss chair, leisurely spinning around, looking relaxed. But there was no trace of anger or heartache from being deceived.

Thorne kicked open the door to Evan’s office when he arrived at Eastsun Group. He walked over, taking large strides, and sharply questioned, “Tell me, what happened?”

The expression on Evan’s face almost instantly turned from carefree to sorrowful, losing the carefree demeanor he had earlier.

“The parts in my hands were all researched to the final stage. We only lacked a chip. If we were to make the chip ourselves, it would not only be time-consuming and labor-intensive, but it would also take a long time. So, I thought of buying it from a foreign company. I even signed a contract with them, where they would exclusively supply us, essentially selling the chip to us. But today, I found out that the company was just a shell company. The sample they gave me was bought from another company. But I’ve already reported it to the police, so we might be able to recover it…” Evan explained.

Thorne’s face twitched with anger. “Recover it? A foreign company?”

He gritted his teeth. “You paid billions of dollars without even figuring out who the other party was?”

“I did my research carefully, but the other party had a well-planned setup. That’s why I was deceived…” Evan defended himself.

“In a situation like this, do you think you can recover the money?”

This was clearly a trap. Evan was deceived, and it was a foreign company. How could they possibly recover anything?! The other party’s identity was definitely fake. Where else could they find the person?!

“I messed up. It was my carelessness,” Evan admitted.

“You think a simple ‘I messed up’ is enough to make things right?” Thorne wasn’t foolish. This mistake was entirely Evan’s fault, and he couldn’t just let him off the hook.

“What do you suggest we do then?” Thorne sat down in Evan’s chair, taking control of the situation.

Evan lowered his gaze and, when he looked back at Thorne, his smile was ingratiating. “I didn’t mean for this to happen…”

“I don’t want to hear your excuses,” Thorne impatiently interrupted.

Evan looked very troubled. “All my wealth is tied to this project. You’re asking me for money, but I can’t give it to you…”

“If you can’t give me the money, you can transfer your shares.” Thorne thought he was being clever. “The contract we signed before was a 50-50 split. I won’t hold you accountable now. We can sign a new contract, with me getting 80% and you getting 20%.”

Evan wanted to hear these words, but he couldn’t show that he was willing. And he pretended to be in great pain. “No, I can pay you back later. I absolutely cannot transfer any more of my shares…”

“If you don’t transfer your shares, what else do you have?” Thorne asked.

Evan remained silent.

Thorne continued, “You don’t have anything valuable left. You can only agree to my terms.”

“80-20. Isn’t that like me working for you? Besides, I invested the majority of the money upfront. Even if I lose billions because of you, I still contributed more. This proposal of yours is squeezing me to death.”

Thorne just wanted to grab this new product and make it his own.

“If you’re not willing, then immediately repay me the money lost!” Thorne’s tone was firm.

Evan looked pitiful, as if he was at his wit’s end. “I can sign a contract with you, you and me, 80-20, but there should be an additional clause. I’ll repay you the money, and we can go back to the 50-50 split we had before.”

Thorne pondered for a moment and agreed, “Fine, but now I have the main say in this project.”

Evan gritted his teeth. “Alright.”

“I’ll have someone draft the contract right away.” Thorne was afraid that Evan would back out.

And so, on that day, Thorne and Evan signed the contract and walked out of Eastsun Group. His heart felt a little lighter. Finally, something went smoothly. He proudly held Eastsun Group in his hands. After all, he now had 80% control, making him the one in charge of Eastsun Group. Evan Drake was just the CEO in name.

However, Thorne Silverton’s joy lasted only for one night.

The next day, Eastsun Group announced bankruptcy and accumulated a substantial amount of debt. Thorne thought he must have misheard, until he saw the news.
