Chapter 177 Deck’s Idea
“Why haven’t you slept yet?” Elijah walked in. “Did I wake you up?”
Freya said, “No, I’ve been waiting for you.”
As she spoke, she had already gotten out of bed and walked over to hug him, her face against his chest. Her move surprised Elijah, his body stiffened for a moment, and he smiled, asking, “What’s wrong with you?”
Freya said, “Nothing, I just wanted to hold you.”
Elijah looked down at her, “Let go first, let me take a shower, and then you can hug me. I’m dirty right now.”
Freya refused, and her arms wrapped around him even tighter.
Two bodies pressed tightly together.
Elijah asked in a low voice, “What’s wrong with you? Why do I feel like something’s off with your mood?”
Freya rubbed against his chest, “From now on, wherever I am is home. I’ll love you well.”
Elijah lowered his eyes, in the dim light, you could still catch a glint in his eyes and the slight tremble in his body.
In his deep, husky voice, he asked, “Freya, what’s going on with you today?”
“Nothing much, just missed you, wanted to hold you.” Freya lifted her head, tiptoed, and gently kissed his lips.
At first, Elijah was surprised, then responded with force, but instead of continuing to linger, he said, “I need to wash up.”
Freya felt he was acting strangely today. In the past, he would have held her at this point. Was he losing interest in me so quickly? The thought scared Freya herself, “Elijah, do you not like me so soon?”
“What nonsense are you talking about?” His hand never touched her, “I saw a dead person tonight, bad luck. I don’t want to bring it to you.”
Freya wasn’t particularly surprised. In the hospital, people died every day. She wasn’t afraid, just curious.
“Who did you go to see at night?”
Elijah remained silent for a few seconds and answered, “Yolanda Steele.”
As soon as he said that, Freya didn’t respond for a long time. She thought she had heard it wrong, “Who?”
“Yolanda Steele. I received a message with her address. I went there, and when we arrived, she was already dead. I came back late because I was investigating the person who sent me the message. I received the message around half-past ten, and I went with people around eleven. The rest of the time was spent searching for the person who sent me the message, but I found nothing.”
“Zane drugged the child, he also received a message, but the address couldn’t be traced.” Freya sensed that something was wrong.
Elijah also noticed, “What’s the purpose of leading me there? Just to let me see Yolanda Steele’s body?”
Freya also felt it couldn’t be that simple.
“What’s the motive?” Freya frowned, “Didn’t Xander find any clues?”
“Not yet, people from the Silverton family are very quiet.” Elijah said.
In fact, it wasn’t that the people from the Silverton family were quiet, but they had already made a move, and Elijah knew about it in advance. He dealt with the Silverton family’s affairs before Freya could worry about it. He didn’t say it because he didn’t want Freya to worry.
“This doesn’t seem like their style. They are quiet on the surface but might be plotting something in the dark?” Freya speculated.
Elijah contemplated. Could what he found be a diversion? Were they trying to use Yolanda Steele as a distraction?
But he wasn’t close to Yolanda Steele. What could they achieve together?
Freya was also puzzled.
“Yolanda Steele is dead, and Zane will be devastated when he finds out. Should I go see him?”
“He might not know yet. Go tomorrow; it’s already late tonight.” Freya glanced at the time; it was already two in the morning. She could only give up for now. “I’ll go to the hospital earlier tomorrow.”
Elijah agreed, “You go to sleep; I’ll wash up.”
“Okay.”
Freya didn’t immediately go to bed. Instead, she went to see Kai, who was being taken care of by Linda.
Kai was sleeping soundly, and she walked out quietly. Back in the bedroom, Freya sat on the edge of the bed but felt no drowsiness. She supported her head, thinking hard. Besides Calista Winters and the Silverton family, she couldn’t think of anyone else.
Elijah came out after taking a shower and saw Freya sitting on the bed. He walked over, embraced her, and laid her down on the bed. He pressed down on her.
The passionate kiss began. The atmosphere was perfect, but Kai’s crying interrupted. Both of them were stunned, and Freya reacted first. She pushed him, “Kai might be hungry.”
“Linda will feed him.”
“But-”
As soon as she opened her mouth, it was sealed by a kiss. All words were completely blocked. Everything was submerged. The night was long, but passion overflowed, entwined and lingering.
…
The old mansion of the Silverton family was brightly lit. This time, the plan to frame Elijah failed. Both Jack Silverton and Colton Silverton had very unpleasant expressions.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Nothing goes smoothly,” Colton complained. Thorne was tightly controlled by Elijah and couldn’t be rescued. It seemed he would be sentenced. Elijah’s position in the company was also unshakeable.
Jack Silverton looked grave as well. He realized that Elijah’s current power was not to be underestimated.
“Dad, what should we do?” Colton anxiously asked. He had a large pimple on the corner of his mouth due to irritation.
“I heard about the plan Thorne’s girlfriend came up with to embarrass Freya. How did that go?” Jack asked. He didn’t want to bring it up, but it was a lingering worry.
Calista Winters intended to escape from the fact that she would take care of the cleaning, but she got caught and ended up doing it all day long. Tomorrow, she might continue. The venue was so large; it would probably take two days to finish cleaning. Her plan wasn’t successful, and he ended up playing himself. Depending on Calista Winters alone, the plan couldn’t be accomplished. Arwen Silverton helped, but it still ended in failure. Besides, they thought it was concerned parents who held onto Calista Winters, but it was actually people arranged by Elijah.
“It didn’t work out?” Jack could tell from his son’s expression that something went wrong.
“So hard to deal with. It’s all because you gave him too much power, and now he doesn’t even listen to you.” Arwen complained. She was Colton Silverton’s wife and Thorne Silverton’s mother.
“Shut up!” Colton glanced at his wife and scolded her in a low voice. Now that Jack was on their side, it was the best thing that could happen.
Arwen closed her mouth, not because she was afraid but because she knew it was useless to say anything now. It was too late. For now, they could only think about how to deal with Elijah. Only by bringing Elijah down could they save their son.
Jack didn’t even bother to argue anymore; his spirits weren’t as high as before.
“Sir, I have an idea. I don’t know if it’s feasible.” Deck said.
Even before the old master spoke, Colton was eager, “Speak.”
It felt like desperate times called for desperate measures.
Deck looked at Jack. Only when Jack spoke would he dare to say anything.
The old master raised his hand slightly, indicating, “Go ahead.”
“It’s like this…”
