You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 176 Not Born with a Cold Nature

Zane hastily concealed, “No…”

“Really?” Freya handed him the water. Her tone clearly expressed disbelief.

Zane’s gaze avoided hers, and he quickly found an excuse, “It’s a company matter, and the issue from last time has been resolved.”

Freya nodded, “You handled it well.”

“But it was your idea,” Zane said. There was a hint of jealousy in his heart. He had to admit that Leo Stone had insight. Letting Freya manage the company, even though it wasn’t her forte, she learned quickly.

“I’m just a few years older than you, so I think a bit more. Give it a few more years, and you’ll surpass me,” Freya encouraged.

Since Leo Stone’s death, Zane had matured a lot. Zane, somewhat surprised, smiled a bit, “I’m fine here. You should go back and take care of Kai.”

“Alright, contact me if you need anything,” Freya stood up. “And don’t forget to drink the water.”

Zane immediately reached out with his uninjured hand and lifted the teacup, “I won’t forget.”

Freya nodded, walked out of the ward, and closed the door. In the corridor, she ran into Elowen, who was carrying food, most likely intended for Zane.

“Are you here to see Zane?” Elowen was happy to see her daughter and asked with a smile.

Freya nodded, looking at the food Elowen was carrying. She asked, “Did you make this?”

“The hospital food isn’t tasty, and it lacks nutrition.” Elowen said.

Elowen’s care for Zane went beyond Freya’s expectations.

Did she really see Zane as her son?

Seemingly sensing Freya’s thoughts, Elowen, with a loving smile, teased her daughter, “Are you jealous?”

Freya shook her head, “No, after all, he’s Yolanda Steele’s son.”

Undeniably, it was because of Yolanda Steele that Elowen and Leo Stone’s marriage was destroyed. Elowen had already come to terms with it. After all, Leo was already dead, and Yolanda Steele had faced the consequences of her own wrongdoings. Zane was just a child, and he didn’t have a say in his birth. Moreover, he wasn’t a bad person. During the time they spent together, Freya had developed some feelings for him. Although Elowen now had a granddaughter, she had also lost a child before. There was a sense of compassion.

Freya knew that Elowen might be thinking about unpleasant things, so she said, “Mom, I’ll take care of you in your old age.”

Elowen laughed, patting her daughter, “You’re already a mother yourself, yet you’re still mischievous.”

“You go back,” Elowen changed the subject.

Freya agreed, “I’ve seen Zane.”

“Alright, I’m here. Don’t worry about this place. Take care of Kai,” Elowen advised.

“Then I’ll go back.”From NôvelDrama.Org.

“Go on,” Elowen waved her hand.

As Freya took a few steps, Elowen suddenly remembered something and stopped her, “Wait a moment.”

“I checked the dates. It seems there are no suitable days for marriage recently. They said it’s better in October when the weather is cooler. What do you think?” Elowen asked. She had visited several places, and they all suggested that October, when the weather was starting to cool down, would be ideal.

“I got it,” Freya replied. She wasn’t in a hurry. Kai was still young, and there were many things with Elijah and the Silverton family to deal with. It wasn’t the right time for a wedding.

“I think it’s better to do it sooner. I’m afraid of unforeseen events.” Elowen wanted the wedding to happen sooner, resolving this matter earlier.

Freya said, “I’ll discuss it with Elijah.”

Elowen nodded.

Freya left the hospital. The driver was already waiting at the entrance. She got into the car and casually asked, “Did Elijah ask you to come?”

The driver answered affirmatively.

“Let’s go,” she leaned against the window.

Back at the residence, she washed her hands and went to see Kai, only to find Linda holding him.

“Linda,” she was surprised.

Linda smiled, “Mr Silverton asked me to come. He said there’s no one here to take care of the baby.”

Elijah didn’t trust unfamiliar people, so he had called Linda over. Freya was happy to see Linda, as she had treated her well at the villa before and Linda was a kind and caring person.

“With you here, I feel much more at ease,” Freya smiled and said. She took Kai from Linda, who now had the chance to leave.

Suddenly, Kai’s little face wrinkled. Freya knew he must have pooped. She pinched his small nose and asked, “Is it stinky?”

Linda suggested, “Let me change his diaper.”

Freya insisted on doing it herself. She always felt she owed her son, as she didn’t spend much time caring for him. Now she had the time.

“I’ll go fetch some water,” Linda offered.

Freya nodded and gently placed Kai down. After disposing of the soiled diaper, Freya wiped Kai’s bottom with a wet wipe.

“Is Elijah out?” she casually asked.

Linda nodded, “Yes, he received a call and left.”

Freya squatted down to wash Kai’s bottom. Once cleaned up, he seemed comfortable and happily stayed awake. Freya played with him. Now that he could sit, she sat on the sofa, teasing him with toys. Suddenly, Linda commented, “Madam, you hid it really well. You’ve been living in the villa for so long, and I had no idea you were pregnant.”

The child surprised her. Knowing it was Freya’s, she was speechless for a moment.

Freya just smiled without explaining, considering the complex situation.

“I’m happy for you. I’ve never seen Mr Silverton so gentle.” Linda said. When she arrived, Elijah was holding Kai, and she was astonished. That imposing and aloof man was delicately holding a baby. The scene momentarily stunned her. She knew Elijah’s change was because of Freya. After caring for Elijah for so many years, he transformed when Freya appeared.

While playing with the child, Freya commented, “He’s always been aloof, not very affectionate.”

Linda shook her head, explaining, “No, it’s not that. Mr Silverton lost his parents early, lacking the warmth of a family. That’s why he seems cold, not because he’s heartless.”

Linda sighed, “Have you heard about the recent events? The old master wants Master Thorne to take over the company, pushing Mr Silverton out of the CEO position. Over the years, Mr Silverton has respected and honored the old master, but now even his last family has betrayed him.”

Freya knew about Elijah and the Silverton family but not in such detail. After Linda’s words, she realized her concern and understanding of Elijah were insufficient.

“Now that you and Mr Silverton have a child, you must be good to him.” Linda advised. She knew Elijah was only cold on the surface, not truly heartless.

“I understand.” Freya replied.

“I’ll go wash the baby’s clothes from earlier,” Linda said as she went inside to tidy up.

Freya fell into deep thought. In recent days, she sensed Elijah yearned for family affection. She felt her care for him was indeed insufficient.

The clock on the wall ticked away. It was nearly 1 am, and Elijah hadn’t returned. Kai had already fallen asleep. Freya had been waiting for Elijah and was starting to feel a bit tired. Just as she closed her eyes, the door creaked open. She immediately sat up and looked towards the entrance, “Elijah?”
