You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 161 Is This a Visit to Hold Him Accountable?

The siren grew louder, disrupting the gamblers engrossed in their games. Even they, immersed in their activities, heard the commotion and rushed out of the containers. A swarm of people, spotting Thorne Silverton, bombarded him with questions, “Why are the police here?”

Their actions were forbidden, and fear of being caught made them frantic. Thorne Silverton, angered, shouted, “Stay quiet if you don’t want to be caught.”

Pushing through the crowd, he approached Elijah, warning, “This situation is bad for you too. Don’t forget, I am part of the Silverton family. Are you not afraid of tarnishing the Silverton family’s reputation?”

Gambling was illegal, yet he operated a casino. Thorne Silverton’s identity was well-known. Once exposed, he would face legal troubles, and Elijah, as a member of the Silverton family, would suffer the consequences.

“Are you willing to face the consequences?” Thorne questioned.

Elijah, indifferent, his lips curled in disdain and coldness, retorted, “How does the Silverton family concern me?”

Though his surname was Silverton, witnessing Jack Silverton’s indifference towards Freya and their child on the ship removed his inhibitions. From now on, he only wanted to protect Freya and the child.

The ship was soon surrounded. The wailing police sirens echoed, sending shivers down everyone’s spines. Those who had erred were now afraid of being caught, and chaos ensued on the ship. Xander led his group down one path, while Elijah escorted Freya off the ship onto their own vessel.

“Xander, handle this situation. Can you manage it?” Elijah’s expression was stern.

Recent outcomes of Xander’s tasks were not satisfactory, and Elijah was contemplating some reprimands. Aware of his own shortcomings, Xander replied, “Mr Silverton, please trust me. I will handle it this time.”

Elijah trusted Xander, and he wouldn’t condemn him outright. Opportunities had to be given.

“Investigate thoroughly. I don’t want any of those people coming out causing trouble again.” Elijah emphasized, “Do you understand my meaning?”

“I understand. I won’t let anyone who bullied Ms Stone off the hook.” Xander showed intelligence, comprehending Elijah’s veiled words, a testament to his observant nature and his understanding of Elijah’s thoughts.

“Go and take care of it,” Elijah said calmly.

Xander led his team back to Thorne Silverton.

Elijah instructed the crew to sail away from the scene. As the boat sailed smoothly on the sea, Freya’s heart remained tense, unwilling to relax for a moment. She feared for her child’s safety.

Elijah hesitated for a long time but never uttered the words, “Let me hold the child,” afraid that Freya wouldn’t let go, especially at this moment.

She was too anxious, and comforting words seemed feeble.

“I won’t let you encounter danger again,” Elijah spoke with a deep voice, focusing on the child in Freya’s arms.

The child resembled him.

Freya didn’t look up but replied, “Thank you.”

The boat reached the shore. Freya, carrying Kai, descended from the deck. “I want to take Kai to the hospital for a checkup.”

She was afraid the sleeping pill might have side effects on Kai.

“I’ll accompany you,” Elijah said.

“Okay.”

Freya boarded the car, and Elijah’s phone rang – Deck calling.

Jack Silverton wanted to meet him.

“I know,” Elijah said and hung up. Instead of returning immediately, he took Freya to the hospital.

“If you have urgent matters, go ahead. I have a driver here,” Elijah said. He wasn’t in a hurry because, in his mind, nothing was more important than the safety of his child.

Kai’s safety was paramount. Even if it involved Jack Silverton, he wouldn’t compromise.

After a while, the car arrived at the hospital. Elijah got out first, opened the car door for Freya, and helped her and the child out. After confirming the child was fine, probably due to the small dose of medicine provided by Thorne Silverton.

“Waah-”

The baby suddenly cried. He was hungry.

Elijah, in a panic, asked, “What’s wrong?” He thought something might be wrong with the examination. His gaze turned fierce, directed at the doctor. “How did you check?”

Freya pulled his sleeve, “He’s just hungry.”

It had nothing to do with the doctor.

The doctor was startled by Elijah’s gaze and cautiously suggested, “There’s formula in the pediatric section. Shall I take you there to feed him?”

Freya nodded.

However, even the hospital formula wasn’t to Kai’s liking. He cried persistently, his face and eyes turning red. Realizing it might be an issue with the formula, Freya had no choice but to take him back to the Stone family. On the way, Elijah was tense, urging the driver to go faster. The driver, equally cautious, did his best.

After a while, the car finally reached the Stone family. No one was at home. Elowen Noir was nowhere to be found, and Zane Stone was at the company.

Entering the house, Freya handed the child to Elijah, “I’ll go make formula.”

Kai was definitely hungry, crying so vehemently. She was in a hurry, not caring whether Elijah knew how to hold a baby. Elijah had never held a child before. This was the first time. He was extremely stiff, not daring to move. He looked down at the small, soft child in his arms, and his heart was on the verge of melting.

This was his child.

His heart roared, surged, and roared again – a constant testament to his current emotions.

Freya prepared the formula and, seeing Elijah standing still, made an awkward attempt to hold the baby. It was evident that he cared deeply for and liked Kai. Freya suddenly felt a profound sense of comfort. At least he acknowledged the child and loved him. For her and the child, this was a positive development.

She walked over and softly said, “Give me the baby, I’ll feed him formula.”

Elijah didn’t hand the child to her. Instead, he said, “I’ll feed him. Is that okay?”

Freya remained silent, passing the bottle to him and expressing her answer through actions.

“Sit down and feed him,” she suggested.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Elijah was noticeably nervous, his forehead veins visible.

Freya couldn’t bear to watch any longer. She took the baby from him and decided to feed him herself. “You’re not used to it. You’ll get used to it after holding him more.”

Elijah let out a heavy “hm.”

Kai, now with formula, stopped crying, though his face and eyes were still red from the earlier outburst. Wimpering, he occasionally let out a soft cry. Due to hunger, Kai had eaten hurriedly and excessively, resulting in vomiting. Freya gently patted his back to comfort him.

Elijah was concerned, “Is he uncomfortable?”

Freya reassured him, “It’s nothing.”

When Kai felt comfortable and sleepy, Freya took him to the bathroom, “I’ll give him a bath.”

“I’ll help,” Elijah volunteered. He spoke without much thought, almost instinctively.

Freya looked at him, this man, proud and seemingly unaware of earthly matters. Now, however, he acted like an ordinary father in a typical household.

Freya’s eyes softened slightly, saying, “Alright, you can help me get some water.”

Elijah had just stepped into the bathroom when his phone rang again, this time in his pocket.

Freya frowned, “You should go, I’ll take care of Kai.”

Elijah scowled, annoyed by the repeated calls.

“I’ll be back soon.”

He had just seen the child and didn’t want to be separated from him.

Freya smiled, “Okay.”

Elijah exited the Stone family, his face devoid of the gentleness shown in front of Freya, replaced by coldness. He got in the car, instructing the driver to head to the old mansion of the Silverton family. Arriving at the old mansion, Elijah walked in.

Deck was waiting at the door and approached him, “Master Elijah…”

Elijah’s expression remained indifferent. Walking and talking, he asked, “Why did you urgently call me back?”

Deck smiled, “I don’t know either.”

Even if he did, he couldn’t say.

Elijah stepped over the threshold and entered. Jack Silverton sat at the chessboard, placing down the chess piece as he saw Elijah arrive, “I heard about the incident with Thorne. It attracted the police?”

Was this a visit to hold him accountable?
