You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 144 The Most Important Person for Ronan

Despite his frail health, Jack tried to comfort Elara, who was crying. Just based on this, Jack felt that she was not as good as Freya. While a woman’s vulnerability and tearful demeanor could be endearing, being excessively delicate could be annoying, especially when he was unwell.

“Grandpa, wasn’t it you who suggested pairing me with Elijah in the first place?” Elara sniffled.

Patiently, Jack said, “Sit down.”

Deck added a remark, “If you have something to say, say it. We can’t understand you when you’re sobbing like this.”

Elara glanced at Deck, then at Jack. Though Jack wasn’t angry, he wasn’t as amiable as usual. She was clever enough to realize Deck’s well-intentioned advice and wiped away her tears, collecting herself. Once she seemed calm, she began to speak, “Grandpa, do you know? Elijah wants to transfer me to the subsidiary company, away from him. If I’m not around him, how can we develop our relationship?”

Jack wasn’t surprised; this was typical of Elijah’s style. He also thought about Freya, who had been presented to Elijah by himself. However, Freya never came to him with her grievances, no matter how much she might have suffered. Even during her prolonged disappearance, she didn’t come to him crying. This comparison made Jack feel that Elara and Freya were worlds apart.

While it was true that a woman didn’t need to be outstanding as long as she took care of Elijah and loved him, being excessively emotional was a drawback. Now he found himself in a dilemma. Although he had initially suggested this, retracting now would be unfair to his old friend and to Elara. If she held a grudge, it would be troublesome.

Deck, understanding Jack’s dilemma, suggested, “Miss Montague, Master Elijah has already helped you establish a good identity as his lifesaver. You should make good use of it. If you come crying to the old master, what can he do? Do you expect him to tie up Master Elijah and deliver him to your bed?”

Elara blushed immediately, embarrassed.

Though Jack glanced at Deck, finding his words somewhat inappropriate, he didn’t intervene. After all, there was some truth in what Deck had said.

Elara needed to find a way to make Elijah fall in love with her.

How much could Jack help with that, especially considering Elijah’s current displeasure with him?

“How do you want me to help you?” Jack asked Elara.

Elara hadn’t thought of a good plan. Even though she had tried drugging Elijah before and failed to keep him, what other method could she use now?

Even if she wanted to display charm, she needed time with him for him to discover her virtues.NôvelDrama.Org content rights.

“Can you stop Elijah from transferring me to the subsidiary company? As long as I stay by his side, he will eventually notice my good qualities,” Elara said, confident in her own beauty.

Indeed, she was attractive.

Thinking for a moment, Jack replied, “I can help you with this to some extent. You do have an advantage. You need to learn to use it.”

Elara didn’t quite understand. She thought Jack was referring to her appearance. “But he doesn’t know how to cherish a beautiful woman…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Jack’s expression had turned displeased.

Had she not understood, especially after Deck had already hinted at it?

“Elijah is a person of principles and loyalty. You now have the identity of someone who saved his life. You should know how to use it,” Jack said.

Elara seemed to comprehend, “But he has already driven me away. How can I use this identity when he clearly doesn’t care about me and doesn’t consider the debt he owes me?”

Jack didn’t want to say anything more. He felt tired and said, “Although it was my idea at first, whether you like Elijah or not, it’s up to you. If you want to spend your life with him, make him like you. You have to show your abilities and make him value you. Understand?”

Elara bit her lip, feeling wronged.

“If you encounter any danger on your way to the subsidiary company or get injured, couldn’t you postpone going? Delaying time can be a strategy,” Jack suggested. “I’m tired; you can leave.”

Elara, realizing her misjudgment, said, “I disturbed your rest today; it was just an impulsive visit. Grandpa, take care of yourself. If something like this happens again, I will handle it on my own.”

Once Elara left the hall and was out of earshot, Jack whispered to herself, “Could Elijah be interested in her?”

He couldn’t help but feel that the possibility was slim. It seemed foolish.

Thinking back, Freya didn’t have Elara’s conditions when she first met Elijah. Now, even though Elara was much better in terms of conditions, she seemed clueless about how to use them. She even needed to seek help from others. Jack couldn’t help but doubt her intelligence.

“Sir, you worry too much. Let me assist you to rest,” Deck suggested, realizing Jack’s thoughts.

Jack sighed, “I’m old and useless.”

“Don’t say that. You’ll live a long and healthy life,” Deck reassured.

“Even a long and healthy life has its end,” Jack looked at Deck, “Arrange a meeting with Ronan Vega for me.”

“Why do you want to meet him?” Deck asked.

Jack might not care about Freya, but he couldn’t neglect the bloodline of the Silverton family. Although Freya had promised to handle it, if she was missing, he needed to get the child back from Ronan Vega.

“What are you going to do when you meet him?” Deck inquired.

Jack could let Freya handle it if she was around, but now that Freya was missing, he had to retrieve the child from Ronan Vega.

“You’ve had dealings with him before. Tell me, what kind of person is he? Is he easy to deal with?” Jack asked.

Deck immediately knelt down, trembling. “I’m sorry, Sir…”

“Get up. I know you were coerced into helping him. You’ve had contact with him; you should know his temper. Tell me about it,” Jack said.

Deck rose from the ground. “Although he’s not as decisive as Master Elijah, he has his own principles.”

Jack contemplated. He couldn’t rush to meet Ronan Vega; he needed to have some leverage to negotiate.

“What weaknesses does he have?” Jack asked.

Deck lowered his head. “I don’t know.”

I wasn’t familiar with him. We didn’t have much contact.” Added Deck.

Jack chuckled.

Deck felt a chill running through him.

“Sir, do you have a plan?”

Looking at Deck, Jack said, “An eye for an eye. However he treats me, I’ll treat him the same. What do you think about that?”

Deck immediately understood. “You mean, capture someone he cares about and then exchange the child?”

Jack nodded. That was his plan. But he had another objective as well.

Freya claimed the child was Elijah’s, but Elijah wasn’t aware of it. Jack harbored doubts. Elijah was too smart not to know about a child. So, he intended to retrieve the child and conduct a paternity test. After all, the bloodline of the Silverton family couldn’t be taken lightly. If the child was indeed Elijah’s, he couldn’t allow him to be left outside, exposed to danger.

“Investigate who he cares about the most,” Jack instructed Deck.

Deck agreed and left.

After Deck departed, Jack gazed at his retreating figure, and in his murky eyes, a glimmer of shrewdness flashed by.
