We Got Love, The Crazy Kind

Chapter 43 She Can’t Have It

Chapter 43 She Can’t Have It

When Mia and Liam entered the diner, the rest of the patrons couldn’t help gluing their eyes on them.

Liam was tall and handsome whereas Mia was beautiful and elegant. They exuded a distinguished

aura that was out of tune with the clamorous and packed diner.

The business was brisk. All the tables were taken except for one located just beside the door.

A waitress approached them with a menu. “Sir and Madam, this way, please. That table next to the

window is available. It’s brighter and more spacious there, so I’m sure the two of you will like it!”

“Brighter and more spacious? It’s going to be freezing because the table is right next to the opened

window.” Mia thought with her brows furrowed slightly in displeasure. Tempted by the sight of the

delicious-looking fish and chips, Mia decided to sit down after some hesitation.

They waited at the table after they finished ordering their food. Just then, they heard a waitress

apologizing to a customer standing outside the diner. “I’m sorry, all the tables have been taken at the

moment. Why don’t you take a seat here and wait?”

“Sure. How long do I have to wait for a table to clear up?” The girl’s voice immediately caught Liam and

Mia’s attention.

It was Amber. She was wearing a black down jacket with a backpack on her back.

Amber couldn’t help noticing it when Liam and Mia spun around in her direction at the same time.

“Ms. Currie, what a coincidence!” Mia greeted Amber enthusiastically. In response, Amber smiled

pleasantly at her. “What are the odds!”

Noticing their interaction, the waitress said to Amber, “It’s wonderful that you girls know each other!

Girl, why don’t you just join your friends over there?”

“Well, I don’t think that’s a good idea…” Amber quickly shook her head. The last thing she wanted at

the moment was to be a third wheel to the pair of lovebirds.

Mia did not want Amber to join them either, so she did not invite Amber over.

Nevertheless, the waitress did not notice the tension in the air between them. She led Amber to Mia

and Liam’s table and said zealously, “Please take a seat while I fetch you a cup of tea.”

Amber’s face was burning with embarrassment. Just as she wanted to come up with an excuse to flee

the scene, Liam spoke in a collected voice, “Why don’t you sit down and have dinner with us?”

There seemed to be a magic in his calm voice that could somehow convince everyone else to do

everything he said.

Thinking that it would be rude to turn Liam down, Amber had no choice but to sit down.

Mia was not pleased. However, she started chatting with Amber affably instead of letting her emotions

show.

The food was delicious, but Amber had lost her appetite. She couldn’t help feeling bitter seeing Mia

wiping the non-existent stains on Liam’s mouth and talking coquettishly with him.

In the meantime, Liam kept a straight face no matter what Mia did. He did not appreciate her gestures

nor did he show signs of repulsion.

Mia noticed the sour expression on Amber’s face. Based on that, she was positive that Amber had

feelings for Liam too.

While she was showing off how lovey-dovey she was with Liam, she was secretly sizing Amber up from

the corner of her eyes. The coat Amber was wearing was worn out and out of style. Judging from the

cheap material it was made of, Mia was sure Amber must have bought it from a thrift store. The jumper

she was wearing underneath looked old and one size too small for her. Mia reckoned she must have

been wearing that jumper for years. To make her outfit look even worse, she wore her outfit with a pair

of hideous boots.

Although Amber was blessed with a pair of long and slender legs, she kept them clad in a pair of boring

jeans.

Mia couldn’t believe a girl like her thought she had what it took to win Liam’s heart.

When they finished the food and asked for the bill, the waitress served them several ice-cream bars.

“Here’s some desserts for you guys. They’re on the house.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.

Enjoying cold desserts during winter had become a thing recently. Mia, who had never eaten an ice

cream bar, commented in amusement, “These look interesting. Liam, please pass me one of them.”

Liam handed one of the ice-cream bars to Mia without asking Amber whether she wanted it or not.

Mia was baffled by Liam’s behavior. Knowing that Liam was a gentleman, it seemed unusual to her that

he would neglect Amber’s needs.

With a smile, she asked, “Liam, why didn’t you pass one to Ms. Currie too?”

Liam glanced at Amber before replying, “She can’t have it.”

“She can’t have it? How did he come by that kind of information? What on earth happened between

them?” Mia wondered.

Mia then cast a penetrating glance at Amber. “Ms. Currie, do you mind telling me why you can’t have

the ice cream?”

“I…” Amber’s face flushed in embarrassment. How was she supposed to answer her?

To their surprise, Liam answered on her behalf candidly, “She’s having her period.”
