“Winston, I’m leaving. Don’t bother inviting me in for coffee…” Before Jake could finish his words, the car door slammed shut with a loud bang.

In front of Winston’s villa, Jake gripped the steering wheel tightly and cursed, “Winston, you’re so heartless. No wonder your wife ran away.”

Winston was speechless. He turned around and stared at Jake.

Jake exclaimed, “I’m being courteous to you, yet you truly refuse to invite me to have some coffee? Are you hiding a woman in your house?” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

“Stop talking nonsense,” Winston warned angrily. He reached for the door handle, intending to drag Jake out. Sensing Winston’s fury, Jake chuckled. He then immediately drove away.

Winston frowned, as Jake was too talkative sometimes. As he turned to enter the house, he saw a pitiful woman crouching at the door.

She looked up and locked eyes with Winston. Her voice trembled. “Win…”

Winston’s heart sank the moment he saw her. He opened the door and stepped inside.

Joanna followed him in. “I’ve been calling you all day.”

She followed Winston closely and added, “Win, it’s my fault.”

Winston went to the bar and poured a glass of water. He glanced at Joanna. She looked pale and spoke weakly, clearly not feeling well at all.

“Win, I promise I won’t cause any more trouble for you, okay? I won’t bring any harm to Millie anymore.” Joanna sobbed.

Winston ignored her and took a sip of water.

Joanna felt more aggrieved. “Win, I promise. I’ll listen to you. Can you please stop ignoring

me?”

Winston sat on the couch with one arm resting on the armrest, He stared coldly at Joanna. She was too scared to approach him because of his intimidating gaze.

“Win, could you please talk to me?” Joanna pleaded as she humbled herself before him.

If the media were to discover this situation, the consequences would be unimaginable. The reputation of the entire Lowell family would be in jeopardy.

It was completely silent in the living room. Winston placed the glass on the coffee table and gazed at her. After a moment, he finally spoke, “Are you done?”

Joanna sobbed, feeling a sense of grievance and hopelessness.

“Go home after you finish speaking,” Winston instructed casually.

Joanna was anxious. “Win, what must I do for you to forgive me?”

Winston stood up to go upstairs and rest, but Joanna stopped him. He sensed her body heat and looked at her. “Why are you so warm?”

As he spoke, he touched Joanna’s forehead. He asked, “Are you running a fever?”

Did she have a fever because she got caught in the rain last night?

“Win, I’ve been waiting for you since last night,” Joanna said aggrievedly.

Winston was stunned. “You’ve been here all this time?”

Joanna nodded. She stayed here all along.

Winston asked, “Are you losing your mind, Joanna?”

Joanna cried and replied, “I am. I’m terrified that you don’t love me anymore. I’m afraid that you’re going to break up with me.”

She hugged Winston and added, “Win, you mean everything to me. I can’t live without you.” She was so hurt and sad. Winston and Millie had finally divorced. However, he ignored her and was mad at her. She was very anxious. After all, this was the closest she could get to marrying him.
