CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR
My eyes were wide open when I woke up. I roamed my gaze to find out where I was because the surroundings were unfamiliar to me. I’m still a bit groggy and trying to sink into my mind where I am and what happened to me.
“The slow is awake. It’s a bad weed. I thought he’s going to die.”
“Love”
“Just a joke, love.”
I looked where the voice came from. I saw Maggie and Blaze sitting on the sofa. Blaze stood up and approached my bed. Maggie also followed him.
“Hey, you’re fine and you’re awake, do you remember what happened to you?” I held my head and strained to remember what had happened. I also noticed that I had dextrose on hand. I remember the dump truck crashing behind me because I avoided the bus.
“Yes,” I answer softly and sigh.
“You were unconscious for two days. But the doctor said it was because of the medicine. It’s a good thing you woke up. What happened?”
“I didn’t notice the bus and tried to avoid it. The one next to me hit me. That’s what I remembered before I fainted.” I also feel pretty ok that I’m not as dizzy as earlier.
“You’re not on yourself while driving,” Maggie scolded.
“I’m thinking about Margot. I’m thinking about what happened to her. It’s as if she’s feeling weird so she’s like that. How is she? Did she visit me?” I ask.
“She didn’t visit because she was busy with work and with Umami. And I’m sorry to say this that she didn’t ask about you,” Maggie replied. Blaze touched my shoulder as if to say ‘that’s ok.’
Is she really that mad at me? She was not even able to visit me to say hello or at least ask how I
Am. Is that how anger towards me and even though I was in danger she still didn’t let me know.
“Phoenix and Hailey were here earlier and just left before you woke up. Dane and Zeus were together last night. How are you feeling? Shall I call the doctor?”
“Blaze,” I call to him when I notice something.
“Oh?” Fuck! It can’t be. “What happened?” He wondered and even Maggie was also waiting for my answer while both were next to the bed.
“Hey, what’s your problem? Is something wrong with you? Tell me and I’m annoyed to wait for you to open your mouth.” Maggie asked angrily.
“Jace, are you ok, man?”
“Blaze, I can’t move my feet.” Damn it, my feet really don’t want to move. Earlier I wanted to move it but didn’t want to. I really try but nothing happened.
“Huh?” Blaze asked and Maggie frowned as well.
“Stupid, don’t joke like that. Your feet are complete!” I saw Maggie punch my foot and I also saw that she was shocked. Because her punch was strong but I was not hurt or reacted. “Stupid, don’t joke like that. No one will take Umami to our house.”
“‘Damn it.” I try to move my foot but nothing happened. “Fuck! I can’t. Move!”
“Jace, Jace, relax, don’t panic, man. Love, can you please call the doctor.”
“Ok,” Maggie ran out.
“I can’t be crippled, Blaze. I can’t!”
“Chill, man, maybe your feet were just shocked because you slept for a few days so the nerves slept too.”
A few moments later Maggie returned with a male doctor with her. The doctor approached me immediately.
“Hi, I am Doctor Asher Miller. What happen?” The doctor introduces and question me about how
I feel.
“I can’t move my foot.” He just nodded at what I said.
“Relax, Mr. Enrile. There is no damage to your feet and other parts of your body. According to your x-ray, everything is fine.”
“What happened and why can’t I move?”
“Your foot had a cartilage shock due to the accident. There are veins that shocked due to accident. I suggest hiring a therapist to massage you to get your foot back to normal. Don’t worry, Mr. Enrile your feet will be fine. ”
“When?”
“It will take little time but I will assure you that you can still walk.”
“Won’t he be crippled forever?” Maggie asked.
“No, he’ll be ok.”
“Sad.”
“Love.” Blaze looked at him wickedly.
“Just a joke. Love. You don’t seem to be used to my joke.”
The doctor did something for me to check up on because I just woke up. He made a random test and I don’t know what it is. But everything he said was ok except for my foot which I couldn’t move.
“Don’t worry Mr. Enrile, everything will get back to normal. If you need something just call me or the nurse.”
“Thank you, doc,” Blaze said.
“Are you afraid?” Maggie asked sarcastically when the doctor came out.
“Love, stop it.”
“Just a joke.”
“You’re not funny, Maggie,” I said angrily then looked at her. “Mag, maybe you can talk to Margot to bring Umami here so I can see him.”
“Do you hope she will come with you?” ‘Fuck, is it bad? She is still my wife.
Maggie took a chair and sat at my feet. “‘Didn’t I tell you before and warned you that among the two of us she’s the worst. Everyone thought I was the craziest and dumb, but Nah, she’s worse. But you didn’t listen. I told you not to continue the wedding but you still went.”
“Stop blaming him, love.”
“I am not, I just reminded him about the warning. For him not to hope. Well, I know Margot still loves you but of course, that one is harder than me. Want to hear a story?”
“Not interested.” Then I averted my gaze.
“That’s bad, it’s about the two princesses and their mother queen. Princess Margot and princess
Maggie.” I looked at her again and saw her smiling. “Ow, he’s interested.”
“Damn you.” But she just laughed at what I said.
“Once upon a time, there was two princess —–yuck. So, when we were young, among the two of us, I am quiet, not vocal, not sweet, and not showy. While Margot is the opposite. So, everyone thought I am the strongest one because they think I’m cursed, wrangle. But Mom, notice that I wasn’t and she said Margot is stronger than me. “Then she smiled.
“Margot is vocal to her feelings and such. She’s not afraid to show her feelings or say what she wants to say. She brings out what’s in her heart and mind. She’s flexible and easy to deal with because she wants people to understand her and love her the way she is. But when Margot gets hurt, mostly when she feels rejected, she can’t forgive and accept you back. Her reason is she did everything, she said everything, she becomes open to being accepted and she is easy to understand and sympathize with her. Then she is still ignored? So she doesn’t immediately forgive those who hurt her, especially those who made her depend on nothing. Because in fact, you can be honest with her but still choose to hurt her.”
“And that’s how you made her feel, Jace. She feels unwanted, rejected, Unloved by her first love, her husband. See, she is able to hide Umami from you and extruded dead just so you can’t come back to her. She also doesn’t care even if you’re here. Honestly, Mom warned me before about Margot.”
“Warned about what?” I ask.
“Margot is nice and kindhearted, but when she gets hurt, her heart becomes hard. It turns to stone. See you’re here and everything but she doesn’t care or let’s say, she cares but she chose not to show it to you.”
I sighed at Maggie’s long statement. Our annulment case has already been filed in court but I hope we can at least be friends. Even if it’s just for Umami. Even though I know I will be hurt because I really love her but where she is happy I will support her. It’s only now that I think I’m about to lose her my heart slowly breaks.
“But I know she still loves you. Honestly Jace, I really don’t want you with Margot because apart from being slow, you’re the ugliest of your friends. But, I don’t have a choice. Especially now that we’re going to be added again.”
“You’re pregnant?” I asked frowning at her.
“Love, can I slap just once to your friend? That’s enough for him to see a star spin on his head.”
“When he does not involve in an accident he was already slow, what’s more now that I think his brain was shaken due to the impact.” The two laughed because of their jokes.
“I have a question,” Maggie said seriously. “Did something happen to you and Margot in Cagayan?” she asked so I averted my gaze.
“It’s just between the two of us.”
“Admit it if there is,” she said annoyed, and shook my foot.Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g
“Why? she’s still wife so what wrong?” She smiled broadly at me.
“Jace, what do you think is the reason she’s dizzy?” Blaze asked.
“She seems to be lacking in sleep.”
“Why is she vomiting?” Margot asked.
“Maybe the blood rises, lack of sleep. Then the blood rises, doesn’t it? When the blood rises, I feel nauseous and dizzy,” I replied.
“Love, must this friend of yours be sent to Mars. It’s useless stupidity here on Earth.” Then she stood up and kissed Blaze. “Fuck I really hope no one will inherit in your brain even one of your children. Because my nephews are miserly.”
“You fool, only Umami your nephew.”
“Whatever. Umami has more sense in talking than you. I wish you could stay paralyzed.” Then she left the ward.
“What’s her problem?” I asked Blaze.
“Just go to sleep. Rest your brain first.” ‘Fuck, there they are again. Saying something and then my mistakes if I can’t understand it.
