CHAPTER THIRTY FIVE
Just only a few days ago when I was released from the hospital. I stayed in the condo because it was closer to the hospital and I had a check-up at least once a week. The set-up for Umami is still going on but since I can’t get him, it’s Maggie, Blaze, or Zeus is the one who picks him up and brings it to me. He was also with his nanny and I also hired a private male nurse and at the same time a therapist.
Ever since I got out I still haven’t seen Margot. Looks like she doesn’t really care about what happened to me. Even sending a message or calling to say hello or asking me how I am, she didn’t do. Our hearing also did not continue because of my accident.
Umami sleeps while her nanny fixes him. He will be picked up later so the nanny has already arranged the things. The more they will bring because Zeus came last night and bought a lot of toys for Umami.
I heard the doorbell ring so I went to the nanny. I can’t reach a spare doorknob because it’s a bit high and I can’t stand it. The wheelchair is low so I can’t reach it even more.
“Sir, Ma’am Margot is outside to pick up Umami,” the nanny told me. I was suddenly nervous when I heard that she was outside. This is the first time I will see her after I had an accident three weeks ago.
“Let her in.” She just bent down and left. I took Umami from bed and operated the wheelchair then headed to the living room.
“Hi,” she greeted me who was sitting but also immediately stood up and took Umami. “How are you?” She’s still cold to me but I’m happy because somehow she greeted me and she’s here.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“It’s okay, still crippled. It’s good that you are the one who takes Umami.”
“I bought something in the opposite building so I went through.”
“Ah!” Why does she seem to gain a little weight? I mean, she looks like she’s come little fat because her abdomen has grown. “I guess your stomach is getting bigger?” I saw the shock in her eyes when I said that so I stared.
“Jace.” I saw her cast a spell and stare at me.
“You eat too much.” I joke. And I saw that her face had calmed down.
“Yes, by the way, we won’t take too long. I’ll just send Umami here again on Monday.”
“All right.” Then I looked at my nurse. “Fred, please help Jazyl carry the things.”
“It’s ok, we’re going to take Jazyl, you don’t have anyone here with you,” Margot interrupted.
“It’s ok, Fred will be back right away. Zeus bought a lot of toys for Umami so he will help you get to the car.”
“Is that so. All right. We’re leaving,” she said.
“Take care.”
“You also.” They left the condo and I was left alone. I just smiled. She is still beautiful and sexy even though she is gaining weight. Just a few moments later, I went to the kitchen to get some water. When I returned to the living room, something suddenly exploded. With the force of the impact, my wheelchair seemed to be pushed so I looked around.
I looked at the kitchen and my eyes widened when I saw that the right side of the kitchen was ruined by a fire. It looks like the other unit exploded because the cement between us cracked.
‘Shit, I think the building is on fire.’
Out of fear, I immediately went to the door to get out. I tried to reach for the top doorknob but couldn’t. I heard a rush from outside my unit so I slammed the door.
“Help!” But no one opens it.
‘Damn it.’ There was a commotion outside. “Help me!” No one could hear me outside because the door was sound-proof and even if I slammed it no one would waste attention because they would save themselves first.
I saw that the kitchen was on fire and the fire had spread inside. The right side of my unit has been eaten. I operated the wheelchair into the room to take my cellphone. No one can help me because I’m sure Fred won’t go up because the guards at the bottom will stop them once if they are already out. I just wish they weren’t trapped in the elevator and they got out of the building.
I prayed fervently that they would get down safely and get out. They are with my family and I hope they are ok. I dialed Blaze’s number. A few rings and he answered immediately.
[“Oh Jace, why?”]
“Blaze, help me, the building is on fire and my unit has been consumed.”
[“What?!”]
“I can’t get out because I can’t reach the top knob. I’m already trapped here inside.”
[“Where is Fred and why did he leave you?”]
“He went down with Margot because there was so much to carry.”
[“The fuck!”]
[“What happened, Love?”]
[“Jace’s unit is on fire and he’s unaccompanied because Fred went down with Margot. He can’t get out because he can’t reach the top knob.”]
[“What?! Damn it, such a walking disaster. Hey, you loser if you will die, I’m going to ask Lucifer to torture you ‘damn you!”] Maggie shouted.
“Help me, please call for help.”
[“Jace, I’m coming. I’ll call the others too and maybe they’re just near you.”]
[“Hurry up, love and maybe that slow will die, miserable slow, I will kill him better.”]
[“I’m on my way, Jace.”]
“Ok.” When I turned off the call I saw Margot’s missed call so I called her as I left the room. I put on the loudspeaker and put the cellphone on my thigh.
[“Sir?”] Umami’s nanny Jazyl’s voice answered the call.
[“I want to come up, my husband is there!”]
[“Ma’am, you are not allowed to go up there and you might be in danger. The rescuer is coming, Ma’am, let’s just wait.”]
[“What the fuck, what are you waiting for? Wait for my husband to die? Don’t you understand?
My husband is upstairs and he’s crippled. He has no one there and he can’t be alone.”]
[“Sir?”] Jazzyl call me.
“Give Margot the cellphone.” Just a few minutes later I heard Maggie talking to me.
[“Jace, are you ok?”] I could feel the concern in her voice and she was crying.
“Yes, I’m in the room to take the cellphone. I just called Blaze. Are you out of the building yet?”
[“Yes, please hang in there, Jace.”] I ran the wheelchair out of the room.
“Good and —–” I hadn’t finished what I was about to say when a loud explosion suddenly greeted me. Here came inside the unit that I think was from the kitchen right when I opened the door. I met the impact so I sprang up and fell into the wheelchair. The cellphone also spilled out.
[“Jace!”]
“Margot, I’m fine!” I shouted because I didn’t know where the cellphone was but I could still hear her voice.
[“I’m going up! I’m going with you! Wait for me!”] Her crying is getting louder.
“Don’t! Just be there! Don’t come up here! Stay with Umami!”
[“No! Wait, for me! I’m coming!”]
“Margot, just don’t come here!”
[“Ma’am, it’s really dangerous, don’t go inside!”]
[“Don’t stop me, my husband is on the fourth floor and he needs me!”]
[“But Ma’am. Ma’am! Ma’am come back here.”]
“Margot! Don’t be stubborn. Don’t come up here!” But I never heard any answer from the other side. ‘Shit, damn it! Think right, Jace.’
“Walk!” I tapped my feet and lifted. “Fuck you move!” Fuck, I don’t know how much damage the fire did outside or what the source of the fire really was. But fuck, Margot can’t go up and maybe she’ll be in danger.
I crawled into the living room. The living room was almost burnt down and the curtains were on fire, which made the fire even bigger. I reached the door and was quiet outside so I slammed it.
“Help!” I shouted. I was also coughing because the smoke was getting stronger and there was no way out. “Help!” I knocked on the door but there wasn’t any sign that anyone was outside.
If I die I will accept but I hope nothing bad happens to Margot. Don’t let her come here and hopefully, she won’t be able to go up because I don’t know how much damage is done outside especially and every now and then something will explode. It looks like a tank of each unit and other equipment being consumed by fire.
I crawled to get back to the room but I was fainting from the thickness of the smoke. My breathing is also slowing down and my vision is blurring.
‘God, please save Margot. Please save her. It’s just me, it’s just me you take. Kill me now, Have mercy on her, save my wife. Please save her.’
Gradually my vision darkened at the same time as the door opened loudly and exploded again where.
“Jace!” and darkness hath swallowed me up.
Author’s note:
To everyone who’s disappointed because Jace is fool—-then feel free to disappoint, because that what he is. A stupid, slow, fool. And I love his character. Thank you for reading.
