Chapter 987
Flora stayed quiet, watching Mr. Richard bounce around with excitement. She figured if she said she wanted to be Mr. Garcia, he'd probably hand over his job on the spot. "I'm not interested."
"I know, I know! You think fame is worthless!" Mr. Richard grinned, rubbing his hands together. "How about just a title, then? Flora, you're only a freshman, yet you could graduate now. Plus, you've jumped up to being a professor, with your old classmates as your students! Isn't that thrilling?"
"Alright, fine."
After a moment, Flora shrugged and agreed. It was just a title, no big deal. Plus, she could skip classes, which was a win in her book.
Seeing her nod, Mr. Richard was over the moon. Then something clicked in his mind. "Oh, and there's one more thing. The folks from the medical research center will be visiting soon. Could you handle the reception, Flora?" Flora gave a lazy nod.
With her agreeing again, Mr. Richard beamed like a kid in a candy store. "Flora, have you eaten? Let me take you out for a meal."
"Can I bring a few friends?" Flora asked after thinking it over.Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
"Of course!"
"It might be quite a crowd," Flora said earnestly.
Mr. Richard waved it off as no issue.
They headed out together, with Mr. Richard carrying her bag like a gentleman.
Across the hallway, a woman in her thirties, wearing a camel coat, watched in disbelief. Was that really Mr. Richard?
Mr. Richard, the prestigious Mr. Garcia of the University of Maple Grove, trailing behind a young girl?
"Who is that girl?" she blurted out.
The man next to her replied, "Professor Blake, that's Flora, the global champion."
Mentioning Flora, a flicker of admiration appeared in his eyes.
Flora had brought immense glory to Austenberg, becoming a revered idol for everyone!
"That's Flora?"
Blake frowned. As an associate professor at the medical school, she'd heard plenty about Flora.
She'd been abroad most of the year, but Flora's reputation was impossible to miss. She had turned the Austenberg medical team into global champions.
"Professor Blake, Flora's incredible. Not only is she a medical whiz, but she
also rocked the
science competition and
"Alright, enough. What she does doesn't concern me."
Blake cut him off, clearly impatient.
Why should Flora's talent matter to her? No matter how gifted, Flora wasn't her student.
She had little patience for such prodigies, feeling like they always stayed a step ahead of everyone else.
Flora was the last thing on her mind; she was focused on herself. The "associate" in her title was annoying her enough.
She was here to check on her promotion to full professor.
Now that Mr. Richard was gone, how could she ask?
"Professor Blake, relax. The
announcement comes out the day after tomorrow," the man reassured her, seeing her impatience. "You're definitely getting promoted. You're the most accomplished in the medical school, with the most
papers published."
Hearing this, Blake finally smiled.
She felt her promotion was a done deal; she just needed to hear it.
"Hey, Blake." A colleague passed by, someone she knew. "Guess what juicy gossip I just heard?"
"What's up?" Blake replied, not holding this colleague in high regard, thinking herself ready to step up to full professor soon.
