Chapter 986
"Full House."
"Grand Slam."
Flora leaned her chin on one hand, casually tossing out her cards with the other, her words rolling out effortlessly.
Ray just stared, speechless.
He should have known better than to underestimate Flora. She was even more ruthless than Connor, that wild card. And she seemed to have it out for him-Henrik and Rafael barely lost a hand! Ray was losing so bad he was about to lose his shirt, literally! "Oops, did I win again?" Flora grinned, "Pay up."
Connor, right on cue, grabbed Flora's phone and opened the payment app, handing it over. The two of them were a well-oiled machine.
Grumbling, Ray transferred $300,000.
"Another round?" "Absolutely."
Losing a few million was no biggie, especially to Flora. Ray wasn't really bothered; it was all just for kicks. But then he pulled Aisha, who was sitting next to him, into his arms, holding her a bit too snugly. "How about letting my girl take a swing at it?" "Who says I'm your girl?" Aisha snapped, landing a playful punch on his face. Ray just chuckled, "Come on, it's all in good spirit. Give me a break, huh? Especially after all the TLC I've been giving you lately."
"Are you even still loaded?" Flora teased, eyeing Ray. Since their Lone Island trip, Ray and Aisha seemed closer than ever.
"I'm tapped out." Ray shrugged, "But Aisha here, she's got the stash. All my money's with her anyway. A real man knows to hand over his wallet to his lady."
"Your turn, Aisha."
Henrik, hearing the phrase 'my girl,' stood and offered his seat to Cecelia.
"Mr. Raul, I'm not really sure how to play..." Cecelia admitted, a bit embarrassed.
"No worries, I've got your back," he reassured her.
"Okay then."
Rafael, holding the joker, watched as Connor and the others rallied around their women, a smirk tugging at his lips.
Flora eased up a bit, and everyone enjoyed the game, laughing and playing until it was nearly 11 PM.
After everyone left, Flora flopped into Connor's arms.
"Connor, can you carry me to our room? My legs feel like jelly, I'm exhausted-"
"Sure thing."
...
The next morning, Flora was jolted awake by her phone ringing non-stop.
Mr. Tanner, Dr. Ray, and a bunch of TV shows and reality programs were all vying for her attention, offering her hefty sums to make appearances.
"Hello, Miss Flora, this is the First People's Hospital of Capital City. We warmly invite you to join us as our chief physician."
"Flora, it's Mr. Tanner. How about becoming the Deputy Minister of the National Medical Department?"

Flora, unfazed, ended each call and activated a call blocker.

After chilling for three days in Fhallow Bay, she headed over to the University of Maple Grove.
Mr. Richard nearly leapt out of his chair when he saw her.
"Finally, Miss Flora! I've been waiting for you!"
Flora gave him a cool look.
With his relentless calls, how could she not show up?
Feeling a bit sheepish, Mr. Richard rubbed his nose and handed her a mug of hot water. "Heh, Miss Flora, there's something I'd like to chat about."
He rubbed his hands together
eagerly, "Even though you're just a freshman, we've all seen what you can do. You could easily graduate now! How about becoming an honorary professor at the University of Maple Grove's Medical School?"
