Chapter 42: Jason Was Really Someone She Could Never Reach
Chapter 42: Jason Was Really Someone She Could Never Reach
The James Villa
Looking at the huge manor in front of her, Felicity looked apprehensive and gloomy.
She never wanted to set foot in this place again.
Every time she came here, she always felt an indescribable depression and suffocation.
She took a deep breath and was ready to battle fiercely with her family.
This time she came here alone. After all, she didn't want to trouble Jason any more with her problems.
She rang the doorbell and waited. The one who came out to receive her, however, was Stanley James
himself.
To Felicity’s surprise, Stanley welcomed her and took her inside with a kind face; there was no anger
on his face.
"Say it! What do you want?"
Stanley’s kind smile made her uneasy as she was unaccustomed to it. She decided to keep things
straight forward.
"I wanted to ask you, who was the one who stopped the wedding car that day?"
Stanley didn't scold Felicity on her rudeness, but asked her this question calmly.
Felicity hesitated for a moment, "A friend who came to help."
Stella, who had always been tricky and mean, said suddenly with a kind smile, "Oh! Then you should
introduce us to him."
"A friend? Not your boyfriend?"
Stanley was more willing to believe that he was Felicity's boyfriend.
"Yes! A friend. Didn’t you call me here to talk about me running away from the wedding? Come on, say
it! What do you want? "
Felicity didn't want to talk to them about Jason any more, and changed the topic.
"Oh! Don’t worry about that, it’s nothing! Opposite to our expectations, after you broke off the
engagement, the Rhodes family didn’t give us trouble, nor did they demand any compensation. So,
umm, the friend of yours must be big enough that even the Rhodes doesn’t dare to provoke him!"
Stanley had completely changed his colors and was talking suddenly as if he was on Felicity’s side, as
if he had not just some days ago tried to force her into marriage.
Hearing him Felicity only felt ridiculed in her heart; she sighed silently at her family’s ability to change
their stance to whatever gives them advantage. Disgusting!
Hannah, on the contrary, was more realistic. She refused to accept that Felicity could ever know a
person of such high status. She sneered, "He must be a rich boy from a powerful family just helping
out!"
Then she looked at her parents and said, "I am telling you Mom, Dad! Bury those wishes as soon as
possible! If he is rich and powerful, why would he ever like someone with such background as her? "
Her words really stabbed Felicity in her heart…
Hannah was right. Jason was really someone she could never reach.
Stella, however, sneered. She gave a look to Hannah and then said to Felicity in a kind friendly tone,
"No matter who he is, can you invite him to have dinner at home?"
"No!"
Felicity refused firmly.
Seeing Felicity's indifferent attitude, Stanley made a heartbroken face and said, "Felice, my child! How
come you still have no manners?"
"Are you done? Don't waste my time if there's nothing else!”
Felicity’s tone was still cold and indifferent.
This was the attitude that Stanley should have kept too.
Seeing him put on a hypocritical sugary smile really made Felicity nauseous.
"Fine! If that’s what you want. Then go and see your mother."
Stanley threatened Felicity with Sarah again.
"I don’t need you to remind me. I am already going!" Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
Felicity snapped. Regardless of Stanley's attitude, she left the villa and went directly to the hospital.
Since when did Stanley become so kind? Ugh! He's such a vile snob.
Felicity had once again seen her father’s real face.
As soon as she reached the main door to leave, she ran into Oliver, who had just arrived by car.
She didn't even bother to look at him. She waved at a taxi to stop it and went to the hospital where her
mother Sarah was.
Oliver also saw Felicity James, but he too did not speak.
After the whole wedding fiasco, Oliver had been very curious and had investigated through his means
about "Felicity’s boyfriend".
He didn’t know if it was the truth or just a rumor, his investigation had revealed the identity of that man
to be Jason Reed!
"How could Jason Reed know her on a personal basis? No, it's impossible!”
Oliver murmured thoughtfully, holding on to his disbelief.
…
After arriving at the hospital, she found her mother safe and sound. Nothing suggested that she had
been threatened by the James family again.
Although her condition was stable, there was still no sign of improvement.
She was still lying motionless, her eyes closed, as if she was sleeping peacefully.
Seeing her mother like this, Felicity felt a stream of unspeakable pain pouring from her heart.
"Mom, when are you going to wake up?"
There was no one else in the ward. Felicity sat by Sarah's side, took her hand in her own and began to
talk in a low voice as usual.
She talked about all that was fermenting in her heart for a long time; things she never told anyone else.
"Mom, I moved out of the campus. I remember how you used to say that you should be a kind person,
but not someone who can’t protect themselves."
"You were right! Anne and others revealed their true colors. Fortunately, I am now far away from them,
and I took care of everything by myself... "
"By the way, Mom, my boss has given me a big design project, and I'm working hard. It's just that
sometimes it gets too hard to be alone and I need someone to talk to. I wish you would open your eyes
look at me, talk to me…”
"Mom, I met someone. He always helps me at the critical moment. Without him, I would not have been
able to handle all this; it would have been very difficult for me. It's just that his identity… is a bit
extraordinary, but I misunderstood it all this time."
"Mom, you know… I’m pregnant. It’s his child. I’m so scared right now... "
When speaking about this, Felicity's voice trembled and she choked.
In the haze of tears, she seemed to see her mother's little finger move a little.
Felicity was stunned. She felt like she was hallucinating.
"Mom?"
Felicity felt her excitement rising.
Although she didn't get a response, she still felt very hopeful.
Felicity immediately called the staff and explained the situation to them.
After listening to her, the doctor checked the EEG and found that there were indeed some strange
fluctuations.
"The patient's consciousness seems to be on the verge of recovery."
In other words, he gave Felicity a little hope that her mother could wake up soon.
Felicity was very grateful and thanked the doctor deeply, about to cry with emotion.
Was her mother worrying about her baby?
Did this mean her mother wanted to meet this child? Wanted it to be born?
Felicity had originally intended to abort the baby quietly, but now, she was thinking about keeping it.
Perhaps, the existence of this child would be the motivation her mother needed to wake
up…
