Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman

Chapter 261 I Didn’t Mean to Force You to Leave

Chapter 261 I Didn’t Mean to Force You to Leave

"Jean, don't listen to him." Maranda desperately winked at John and warned him to stop being big-

mouthed. Then she comforted Jean in a soft tone with a smiling face. But Jean noticed all this reaction

on Maranda's face.

Maranda's unusual behavior to stop John from saying anything further triggered Jean's suspicion. She

somewhat understood that they were trying to conceal something from her and that something was

correlated to her.

"John, now that you have started to say something, be a man and finish your words. Don't care what

Maranda says. You can tell me anything. It's okay. I can take it." Jean's expression tensed. She asked

John seriously.

As the atmosphere got tensed, Maranda realized that Jean had noticed the fact that they were keeping

something from her. And now Jean wanted to know everything, but she had to try to hide it from Jean.

It was for Jean's sake only. So she said resentfully to John, "John, if you are really going to say it, I will

never forgive you in the future…"

"Maranda, do you think your threat is going to work? Or you just want to conceal it from her and force

her to live in hospital? We both know clearly how stubborn she is. I think we should tell her the truth, if

we really want to help her." John was not a man who could be easily threatened, he frowned and

replied to Maranda in forceful tone.

"You…" Maranda was speechless by John's response, her mouth still opened in mid-sentence. Finally,

she said in a ruffled tone, "Okay, whatever. But if anything bad happens, you will be the one to be

accounted for."

In a sulky way, immediately Maranda turned her face to the other side after finishing her words, and

acted as if it was a very grave matter.

"What the hell is going on?" Seeing the argument between Maranda and John, and in particular

Maranda's angry reaction, Jean felt extremely anxious. In order to ease the surrounding, she asked

them in a self-mockery tone, "I didn't get an incurable disease, right?"

"Cut it out!"

"Cut it out!"

John and Maranda yelled it out simultaneously. They looked at each other and both saw helpless

expression on each other's face, as Jean was taking it in all wrong sense.

"Fine! Tell her the truth, John!" Maranda finally gave in and said to John before taking a deep sigh.

Then she sat down on the chair beside Jean's bed in a tiring way.

Jean hastened to look at John as she heard Maranda's words of agreement.

A bitter smile appeared on John's face as he said, "Don't think so negatively. What we said to you

before is true, you are severely anemic and weak. But If you are not going to take care of yourself and

rest more, your condition could be worsened due to shortage of blood supply, and as a result, you will

frequently suffer coma."

"Frequently suffer coma…" Jean muttered. Her expression suddenly changed to grim as she repeated

the words.

She had always known that she had anemia, however, the severe condition described by John was

really beyond Jean's expectation. She was in shock because she had never thought that her anemia

could be so severe.

"Don't worry, Jean. The doctor told us that your condition was still in an early stage, as long as you take

his advice and take more rest, you can get back to normal life soon. And everything will be fine. But

you have to follow his advice. As for the reason why we didn't tell you earlier, we were just too worried

about you, we didn't want you to feel stressed, and we didn't know how you would react on hearing all

this. It's true. The doctor has promised us that if you cooperate and follow his instruction, you will be as

healthy and energetic as before. And you can be free from here and can come to work." Maranda

added in a comforting tone immediately after she sensed Jean's worsened expression. She knew that

Jean was worried on listening about her condition. She wanted her to be happy and free from all the

tension.

"Maranda, you don't have to console me." Jean gave a long deep sigh while changing her expressions

to normal before continuing, "I have already known that my body is weaker than normal people since I

was little. And I also clearly know my aggravated anemia is all because of my long-term insufficiency of

nutrition. Okay, take it easy. I will follow the doctor's advice and I will take good care of myself. So, stop

worrying about me so much."

"Really?" Maranda asked in surprise with her eyes opening widely. She couldn't believe her ears that

so easily Jean was ready to stay in hospital.

"Why would I lie to you? It's my health that goes wrong. Nobody but me can really fix it. So, I am going

to work for it. Plus, I don't want to die so early…"

"Bah bah bah… Now you are taking it too far. Throw away your thoughts of death, you are not at all

that serious. Don't say that word again! Or I will punish you by slapping on your face." On hearing

Jean's words, she hastened to cover Jean's mouth with her hand by jumping from her chair and said in

a solemn expression as she instantly got tensed.

As a result, Jean could only nod helplessly to Maranda as a response to her request. Jean knew if she

continued any further, Maranda was damn serious about her slapping.

Seeing Jean's nod, Maranda finally loosened her grip from her mouth and moved back from Jean's

bed.

"Maranda, you are so superstitious. People are going to die sooner or later. Why do you forbid talking

about this so strongly?" Jean breathed out a deep sigh and then she asked in a semi-joking tone.

"I'm not superstitious. I just think it's an uncomfortable thing to talk about death. And why do we have to

talk about it when we can talk about anything else in this world." Maranda shook her head as she

countered, "Besides, you are not suffering from a serious illness. Don't ever say that word to scare me

again, okay?"

"Okay, I know." By hearing Maranda's warm-hearted words and her concerned tone, Jean felt a trace of

warmth in her ice-cold heart and a sisterly affection towards her.

A light smile appeared on John's face as he saw the moving scene of Maranda cheering Jean up. With

that, tension was eased between them.

"Okay, John. Jean is now settled. She is fine with me. You can be reassured and can leave for work

now." As Maranda saw that Jean had calmed down, she hastened to urge John to leave.

"Maranda, you can go with John too! I'm feeling good now. I can walk, move and eat a lot by myself.

You guys are free to go. And I can also take a good rest after you leave. I am feeling sleepy." Jean

intentionally said in a bothered tone.

"Jean, you…" Maranda's feelings was slightly hurt by Jean's words. She didn't know what to say at this

instance. She wanted to stay with Jean but Jean herself was asking her to go.

Maranda had taken leave from work specially for looking after Jean and for not letting her feel lonely.

However, Jean had asked her to go back to work. It disappointed Maranda.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to force you to leave. But I really wanted to have a proper rest with good sleep. I

am feeling dizzy right now. If you stay, I will not be willing to sleep and leave you alone. I am saying the

truth. Please just leave with John!" Jean held back her smile and said to Maranda in a serious tone. As

Jean wanted to have some time to process about her health condition and stay silent to think over

about her past. That was why she wanted Maranda to go.

"Tell me seriously Jean. Don't you really need my help?" Maranda asked soberly but in a sad manner.

"Yes, I'm serious." Jean gave an affirmative reply as she nodded. Then she looked to John before

saying, "John, please take Maranda back to work. I am really fine. You two can go. And I will let you

know if anything happens."

"Okay." John nodded to Jean as he added, "Take care of yourself. And we are only a phone call away."

"Sure." Jean conveniently gave a push to Maranda, then waved her hands to Maranda and John for

farewell with a sweet smile on her face.

Maranda sensed Jean's impatience from her tough attitude, so she could only follow John to go outside

the room. She didn't wanted to argue with Jean. Also she knew that at least right now Jean was in

hospital, and if anything would happen, doctors would be here to take care of her.

"Jean, I will be back here for you after work." Maranda looked at Jean apprehensively as she said.

"Okay, I will be waiting for you." Jean knew that if she didn't agree on that, Maranda would definitely be

disgruntled and unwilling to leave. That would go against Jean's will. Though she was acting as if she

was normal, deep down she was depressed.

On hearing Jean's reply, Maranda suddenly changed herself into a pleasing mood and left with John

happily.

The ward was suddenly overwhelmed by silence. The smile on Jean's face gradually vanished as well. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

Eventually, she changed into peaceful but solemn expression. She lay down on her bed in a relaxing

position while wandering.

Frequent coma…

Jean felt a strong bitterness deep in heart as she thought about the words. Her unhealthy condition

was all due to Joy and Shirley. She was struggling all because of them.

If it was not because of Joy and Shirley, Jean would not have had to eat their leftovers and wear their

abandoned clothes, and her body condition would not have been as bad as it was now. As she lived on

their pity, her body suffered the consequences.

Especially at this crucial time.

If Zed and Jesse had known this, they would probably be mocking on her vulnerably affected condition.

She even imagined their comments and laughs on her condition.

However, her body was still depending on her to recover and to be taken care seriously. She had to

take it all sincerely as everything had gone way out of hands.

Though Jean didn't want to be laughed at by Jesse, right now, it was stupid to care about her dignity

more than her body. Her body was her main priority.

Even though Zed would really leave Jean, Jean would still be curious about whether Jesse would be

the one staying by Zed's side then. Jean never wanted Jesse to be with Zed.

As Jean thought about this touchy topic, her body which was already in vulnerable condition made her

feel uncomfortable. To neutralize herself she took a deep breath. However, she still was feeling dizzy.

Jean slowly changed her position to ease herself. After she felt better, she took out her phone. Jean

was in desperate need of peace at that time.

She made another try to call Eva, as she failed again. she decided to give up and try to go to sleep. But

her mind was not letting her sleep. All her issues that led to this instance kept flashing before her eyes.

By analyzing Eva's reaction, Jean felt that Eva was very likely to be associated to the matter of the

video. She just wanted to confirm it.

Though Jean had been very cautious, unexpectedly, she got trapped by Eva's scheme. Eva was very

vicious in her planning. She was a devious woman.

A bitter and tiring smile appeared on Jean's face. Eva was not her only enemy at all. The greatest

threat faced by Jean at that instance was still Jesse. Jesse was winning over Eva in all of her schemes.

As Jesse was more close to Zed, it was easier for her to execute her plans.

When the scene she had seen that morning flashed in Jean's mind, she could only feel a sharp pain in

her heart and a deep desire to cry out loud.

Right at this instance, someone knocked at the door of her ward.

Jean answered in a stunned expression, "Come in please."

The news that Jean had been in hospital seemed to have spread very fast. Who would it be to come to

visit her so soon?
