Chapter 286
Chapter 286
Adeline's heart twinged painfully, for she had never heard such impassiveness coming from Isaac.
At that, she shook her head. "That's not what I mean, Isaac! She said it herself. She said it's an off-the- rack necklace!"
Her voice became somewhat hoarse, and a hint of a sob could be heard interlaced.
Isaac snorted disdainfully in response. "And you believe her just because she said so? What terrible taste you have."
That said, he had no intention of revealing the necklace was worth 150 million. Instead, he snorted derisively as he put an arm around Patricia. "Let's go."
His 'let's go' was so comforting that everyone thought the infuriated man two from two seconds ago was someone else entirely. His last two words were beyond gentle, and the voice was so melodious that it melted people's hearts.
After the couple was a distance away, Isaac pinched Patricia's thin waist, chiding, "What were you doing, running around?!"
She was gone the second he wasn't looking! He even had his men looking for her along with him. But who'd have thought the girl went to the bar while he was searching high and low on the dance floor?!
"Stay where you are the next time you get lost, understand?!"
Patricia chuckled in response. She had said the same thing to little Sylvie countless times precisely because she feared not being able to locate her when she got lost, and now that he was doing this to her, she knew just how fearful he had been.
With that, she wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his chest, all smiles as she sniffed his crisp perfume. "Understood."
Despite having initially wanted to throw a baby tantrum at him, every bit of her anger was gone now, and she felt safe in his arms.
A hint of a smile, too, laced Isaac's eyes at this point, and he requested while stroking her back, "Dance with me."
With that, the two bowed to each other hand in hand, then slid into the dance floor.
It had been forever since Patricia did this type of dance, and she had thought she would make mistakes, but with a great dance partner like Isaac, her worries seemed to be for nothing.
Just like that, the two became the main attraction on the dance floor, and Nikola turned to the young girl in his arms with a smile. "How about we dance too, Baby?"
Seeing how sweet Isaac and Patricia were when they danced had gotten him envious.
"Sure, Paps." Tori nodded. "C'mon, show me what you've got!"
That was how Tori was, and the reason Nikola took an interest in her was that he thought she was unique—a fiery little one. Tori was the Leighs' little princess. As her entire family spoiled her, she developed a bratty personality. ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
In the blink of an eye, Nikola and Tori hit the dance floor, and the two danced pretty well too.
When they passed by Isaac and Patricia, Nikola commented, "Nice moves, Ise."
The dude would never dance in front of anybody in the past, and if he was forced, he would just dance to one song perfunctorily. When had he ever turned and spun around like this before?!
Nikola even wanted to give him a thumb's up.
"You're not bad yourself," commented Isaac as he glanced at his best friend.
Tori couldn't help bursting into laughter. "Mr. Arnold sure is quite the character, Paps. He doesn't give a thing about this at all."
Patricia, too, giggled, and when she saw the smile on Nikola's face gradually fade away, she laughed even brighter. "Haha, you're really terrible, Mr. Arnold. Judging from Mr. Ortega's face, I have a feeling he'll step on his partner's foot because of what you said."
As if on cue, Tori cried out, "Ouch! You stepped on my foot, Paps."
Nikola came to himself at once, and he pursed his lips for a second before apologizing, "I'm sorry, Princess! Why don't I carry you upstairs to rest?"
The lounges upstairs were for guests, and it was evident why he wanted to take her there. Thus, she turned him down at once. "No. You said it yourself, you won't touch me before I'm a legal adult, and I'm still yet to celebrate my 18th birthday, in case you've forgotten."
