You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 70

On the marble floor, Elijah discovered a small diamond embellishment from Freya’s dress. It lay in front of a flat lawn, revealing faint footprints. Freya’s distinctive thick-heeled shoes indicated her path.

Following the trail, Elijah navigated the garden. Freya’s absence from the banquet hinted at her departure. As he pursued a small path, he reached the rose garden as the sky darkened.

“Help! Is anyone there?”

A distant voice caught Elijah’s attention. “Freya Stone?”

Unheard by Freya, she continued to shout for assistance within the pitch-black cave, surrounded by prickly grass and dampness. Elijah, now able to confirm her presence, turned on his phone’s flashlight and commenced his search. The entrance of the cave, concealed by grass, remained unnoticed. In his haste, Elijah overlooked what lay beneath his feet.

Elijah slipped and fell into the hole.

“Who?”

Freya sensed another presence as Elijah shone his phone’s light toward her. Covered in mud, she huddled in the grass.

Elijah, half-lying on the ground, exposed his rolled-up suit and pure white shirt.

“Are you okay? Why were you running around?” he asked, relieved to find her.

Freya threw herself into his arms, expressing her gratitude. “Thank goodness you came; I was so scared.”

Elijah, amused by the sudden turn of events, reached out to hug her. “What’s there to be afraid of here?”

Even she got scared sometimes?

Freya couldn’t pinpoint her fear, perhaps the unfamiliar environmen–overgrown grass, dampness, and the potential presence of snakes and centipedes.

“Hurry up and get up; let’s leave this place.” Freya urged.

“I’ll call my secretary.”

As Elijah attempted to make the call, the light from his phone screen revealed Freya’s face. His eyes flickered with a hint of calculation. “Seems like there’s no signal here.”

“What should we do?” Freya panicked. “It’s not easy to get out of here.”

Elijah reassured her, “Don’t be afraid, I’m here!”

Nestling in his arms, Freya urged him to find a solution.

“You have to do something about this.”

Elijah savored her dependence on him, a faint smile playing on his lips. “I found this place, it means it’s not that hidden. By the way, why did you come here?”

Freya Stone, unsure if she was feeling jealous or angry, replied, “Isn’t it because of you?”

“I was lured here by your admirer, who felt jealous seeing us together.” Freya explained.

“That just means you’re foolish to be easily deceived,” Elijah said, smiling down at her. “What would you have done if I hadn’t come?”

The thought sent shivers down Freya Stone’s spine. She held Elijah’s waist tightly. “Thank goodness you came. It’s not that I lack caution; I just couldn’t imagine traps everywhere.”

Elijah felt something moving around his waist. Was she taking advantage of the situation?

“Freya, this isn’t the right place.” Elijah warned.

“What?” Freya seemed confused.

Sensing something amiss, Elijah lifted his phone to illuminate his waist.

“Ah!” Freya quickly withdrew her hand.

A snake, stimulated by the light, had bitten Elijah, leaving two bleeding red marks before swiftly disappearing into the foliage. At that moment, Elijah couldn’t help but wonder if he’d die in this jungle due to its dangers and allure. His phone could make calls, but he pretended there was no signal earlier when Freya initiated that intimate moment.

Was this karma?

Freya hurried to examine the bite wounds on Elijah’s waist, concern etched across her face. “Could it be poisonous?” Panicking, she feared the consequences. Elijah had come to rescue her from the pit, only to get bitten by a snake.

“Is there any venom?” Freya muttered.

What should she do? She felt a deep sense of urgency.

Remembering something from television, she contemplated sucking out the venom. As a doctor, she knew it wasn’t a viable solution, but they had no tools here. Without much thought, knowing that time was of the essence, she leaned down to Elijah’s waist, attempting to suck out the venom.

Elijah’s gaze deepened, and Freya’s tongue grazed his skin softly, causing him to freeze. In such an environment and situation, he found himself unable to control the unexpected surge of desire. He lifted Freya and said, “Stop being foolish.”

If the snake was truly poisonous, she might get infected by coming into contact with it through her mouth.

“But you…”

At that moment, Elijah’s phone rang.

Freya raised an eyebrow, focusing on Elijah. “Your phone had no signal. How can you receive a call now?”

Elijah hesitated. “There’s signal now?”NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.

“You lied to me?” Freya Stone realized. She was infuriated. How could he joke about such a serious matter? She had been scared to death.

Her anger overwhelmed her rationality, prompting her to raise her hand. Elijah swiftly caught it, holding it firmly, while using his other hand to answer the call. It was from his secretary.

“Mr Green’s daughter claims to know Miss Stone’s whereabouts.”

Elijah’s mind raced. Mr Green’s daughter, the admirer Freya mentioned?

“Trace the location of my phone and come immediately.” He ordered.

“Yes, sir.”

After hanging up, Elijah turned to Freya. “What’s the name of the person who lured you here?”

Freya turned her head, refusing to speak.

“Are you angry?” Elijah asked.

Freya was furious. “Is this something to joke about? What if that snake was poisonous, and you died because I couldn’t rescue you in time?”

“Are you concerned about me?” Elijah, unable to conceal his inner delight, said, “I’m so happy.”

“You’re insane!” Freya was genuinely angry. She hadn’t expected Elijah to make a joke out of such a situation.

“Don’t be mad.” Elijah reached out to hug her.

Freya Stone, however, pushed him away with force. Just then, she felt something cool on her foot. Startled, she instinctively leaped back into Elijah’s arms. Looking down, she realized it was just a small frog.

As she tried to withdraw from his embrace, Elijah encircled her.
