You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 248 You’re Not Confident Enough

The empty room was void of any presence. Kai was nowhere to be found either.

Freya’s heart leapt into her throat.

Where was everyone?

Where did they all go?

Feeling a sudden panic, she hurriedly went outside. And then she saw a car pulling in. The driver opened the door, and Elijah stepped out, carrying Kai in his arms.

Linda was holding a bunch of things.

She walked over and asked, “Where did you guys go?”

Kai’s face was a bit flushed. He didn’t have his usual playful spirit and seemed a bit lethargic. His eyes were red, as if he had been crying for a long time.

“Is Kai not feeling well?” She sensitively noticed that something was wrong with Kai.

Elijah completely ignored her and walked into the house with Kai in his arms. Linda approached and whispered, “Kai has a fever.”

“Linda,” Elijah warned in a low voice.

Linda didn’t dare to say anything else and quickly entered the house. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.

Freya pursed her lips, turned around, and walked inside. In the room, Elijah stood by the window, holding Kai against his shoulder. Kai obediently rested his head on Elijah’s shoulder, his eyes half-closed, his long lashes damp.

“Kai probably wants to sleep. Let me comfort him,” she walked over and reached out her hand.

Elijah stepped to the side, creating some distance between them.

Freya whispered, “I’m sorry. I actually wanted to come back earlier, but something came up on the way, which delayed me. I didn’t mean to be this late…”

“Just leave after you’re done talking,” Elijah interrupted her.

Freya hesitated for a moment, then silently walked out of the room.

At this moment, Kai wanted to sleep. She decided to go outside and explain everything to Elijah later. Linda saw Freya coming out with a gloomy expression and quietly asked, “Have you eaten?”

Freya shook her head and said, “No.”

“I’ll get you something to eat,” Linda offered.

“No, I’m not hungry.”

Linda sighed, “Please understand Mr Silverton. Kai suddenly got a fever, and we were all at a loss. Kai kept crying, and I’ve never seen him so flustered and frantic.”

Freya lowered her eyes and said, “It’s my fault.”

As a mother, she didn’t take good care of her child, and as a wife, she didn’t take care of her family.

Linda tried to console her, “Try to come back earlier in the future.”

Freya nodded and said, “I see.”

Linda went off to attend to her duties.

Freya felt exhausted and leaned against the wall for support. After more than an hour, Elijah finally emerged from the room. Freya heard the sound of the door opening and immediately straightened her body.

“Is Kai asleep?” she asked.

Elijah still didn’t respond to her and walked straight towards the bedroom. Freya followed behind him, explaining, “Are you still angry? I didn’t mean to. I swear, I didn’t do anything to upset you. It was my fault regarding Kai. I didn’t take care of him properly.”

Elijah silently unbuttoned his shirt, one button at a time, pulling at the collar. He took off his coat and casually threw it on the sofa.

“Finally done with your busy day?” he said with a sarcastic tone.

Freya stared at his back, feeling a wave of sadness welling up inside her. Suddenly, she felt like crying. Her nose tingled, and tears involuntarily gathered in her eyes, making them feel sour and astringent. She forcefully widened her eyes, holding back the moisture that had gathered in her eye sockets. She wasn’t someone who cried easily. But suddenly, she felt so wronged. She knew she had made mistakes. But it wasn’t an unforgivable, heinous act.

Why wouldn’t he give her a chance to explain?

Why did he have to hurt her like this?

“What do you want me to do for you to forgive me?” she choked back her voice, trying to make it sound normal, but a hint of trembling leaked through.

“Why won’t you listen to me? I know our relationship hasn’t reached a point where we can trust each other completely without reservation. I’m trying, and I’ve also tried to put myself in your shoes and see the situation with Ronan when I got drunk. Those things were all his doing, a prank to provoke you. Is it that you don’t have enough confidence in yourself or that you don’t trust me at all?”

She couldn’t hold back her emotions anymore and questioned him with a trembling voice.

Elijah slowly turned around.
