Chapter 242 The Surveillance Footage Left by Ronan
Ronan’s words were undeniably a blatant provocation.
“Is that so?” Elijah’s lips curled slightly, his deep, distinct voice resonating from deep within his chest, heavy and sharp.
Ronan stared at him with caution. “Yeah, you would definitely be angry if you saw it. The truth is, there’s nothing between me and Freya. I deleted the surveillance footage to avoid any misunderstandings.”
Ronan should have just left it at that. The more he explained, the more it seemed like something unspeakable had occurred last night.
“In my opinion, you’re just feeling guilty and afraid of being caught, so you deleted it, right?” Xander, who had never seen eye to eye with Ronan, chimed in. He believed Ronan was nothing but a shameless individual.
Ronan realized that his attempt to explain wasn’t going well at all. It seemed like Xander had already concluded that he had done something wrong.
Elijah’s expression turned sour.
Should he continue speaking? If he continued, or showed Elijah the two video clips he had, would it only fuel further misunderstandings?
Forget it.
“Well, I didn’t take advantage of anyone’s vulnerability. Believe it or not,” Ronan said, turning around and running away. He ran because he was afraid of being caught by Elijah. But to others, his actions appeared as guilt-ridden.
“Ronan is definitely a despicable person. I wonder if he took advantage of Ms Stone’s vulnerability.” Xander complained.
Elijah had wiped Freya’s body, confirming that she hadn’t been touched by anyone. But Ronan’s obvious deception was highly suspicious.
“We need to find a way to access his computer.” Elijah said.
If Ronan still had the surveillance footage, they would undoubtedly find the truth.
Xander nodded. “I’ll take care of it as soon as possible.”
When it came to dealing with Ronan, Xander would exert every ounce of effort.
Elijah’s phone suddenly rang. He answered the call. It was Evan on the other end of the line.
“Mr. Silverton.”
“Has the test results come in?”
“Yes.”
“Tell me.”
“That woman named Joan Lowe, she is biologically related to you. Our surveillance team sent a report that she has also arrived in the country,” Evan said.
Elijah stood still, his jawline tense. “I see.”
Joan Lowe, Joan Nash, both had the same first name. This couldn’t be just a coincidence.
“Find out who the man by her side is as soon as possible.” Elijah said calmly. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
In truth, those who knew him understood that the calmer his face appeared, the more turbulent his heart felt. No one could remain indifferent upon learning that their deceased loved one was actually alive.
“Understood,” Evan said.
Elijah’s gaze darkened as he hung upthe phone. His face remained calm, revealing no trace of emotion. Even Xander, who was not as perceptive as Evan, knew that Elijah was in a bad mood at this moment. He had to be careful not to provoke him.
“I’ll go check on Ronan first,” Xander said cautiously.
Elijah gave a faint “hmm” in response.
Xander quickly left.
Elijah returned home alone. As he entered the house, he saw Kai lying in the rocking chair. He walked over and lifted the child up in his arms.
Kai was excited to be held. His little hands were restless, waving around. He was delighted whenever someone held him.
“Ma-ma,” he would say.
He would only say those two words.
“Ma-ma…” Elijah held him and sat on the sofa. Kai’s previously restless mood gradually calmed down because of Elijah’s presence. He thought, as parents, no one could bear to abandon their child, right? Joan Nash had been hiding overseas all this time. Perhaps she had her reasons and it wasn’t intentional. And it wasn’t that she had forgotten about him.
“Ma-ma…” Kai’s sweet voice was incredibly adorable. Elijah gently pinched his cheek and said, “Say ‘PaPa’.”
Kai giggled. He nuzzled his head into Elijah’s chest. His drool stained Elijah’s neck.
Linda brought over baby food for Kai and said, “Kai needs to eat.”
Elijah said, “I’ll feed him.”
“Alright.” Linda handed the small bowl and a delicate spoon to Elijah.
Kai was good at eating. Although Elijah wasn’t very skilled in taking care of babies, he managed to do an acceptable job. Amidst his clumsiness, there was tenderness.
Usually, after eating baby food, Kai would take a nap. However, today he seemed particularly energetic. Perhaps it was because he didn’t want to sleep while in his father’s embrace. Elijah continued to hold his son when Xander suddenly arrived. His investigation had progressed quite quickly.
“I found the surveillance footage that Ronan left behind.” Xander said as he approached Elijah.
