You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 217 You Always Picking on Me

“What’s going on?” Linda walked over and asked.

Kai was sleeping, and she was afraid the child would be woken up by the noise.

Xander whispered, placing his index finger to his lips, signaling Linda to be quiet. Linda immediately hushed.

“Don’t disturb him,” Xander whispered.

He knew why Elijah was angry; Elijah was just venting his frustrations. Jack had raised him, but also used their familial bond to manipulate him. The reason Elijah hadn’t laid a hand on Arwen all these years was because of Jack.

But how had Jack treated him?

Xander guessed that Jack’s heartache came from the fact that the people who hurt him were someone he had a supposed family relationship with.

Linda asked softly, “Should we call Freya back?”

Xander’s eyes lit up, thinking it was a good idea. Elijah needed someone by his side right now.

“Go call her.” Xander said.

Linda made the call, but there was no answer. She sighed in frustration and shook her head at Xander. “Can’t reach her.”

Xander sighed in response.

In the study, Elijah stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, his hands behind his back. Broken teacups were scattered on the floor, with spilled water reaching his feet.

His posture was upright, but he seemed incredibly lonely at the moment. The light from outside shone on him, casting half of his body in brightness and the other half in darkness. It made it impossible to see, to guess, his current state of mind.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

At the hospital.

Freya followed Sivin into an operating room. Ever since she started working at the hospital, or more accurately, since she started following him, she had been incredibly busy. Every time Sivin entered the operating room, she would assist him, and she was also responsible for many patient check-ups. In short, ever since she started following Dr. Sivin Peters, all the miscellaneous tasks were assigned to her. As a result, she was always busy.

It was three hours later when she finally emerged from the operating room. Before she could even take a break, Sivin assigned her to organize a patient’s files.

“Organize the files and put them in the middle drawer of my desk. And make sure no one sees them.” He instructed.

“Okay.” Replied Freya.

Freya was meticulous and efficient in her work, but when she saw the photo on the patient’s file, she had a sense of familiarity. It felt like she had seen it somewhere before. Soon, she remembered. Because Elijah had reacted strongly at the time, she remembered it clearly. It was a photo of Elijah’s parents. She remembered looking at the photo, accidentally knocking over a nearby box, which made Elijah angry. As she looked through the information, the woman in the photo looked a lot like Elijah’s mother.

Could she be a relative from Elijah’s mother’s side?

Because they looked so alike.

But as far as she knew, Elijah’s mother was an only child. According to Xander, the parents of Elijah’s mother had passed away a few years ago, so Elijah’s maternal side of the family had no one left. If there were relatives who looked so similar, they would probably be Elijah’s mother’s sisters or something. However, there were people in this world who looked alike.

“What are you doing? Haven’t finished organizing yet?” Dr. Peters walked in, frowning when he saw that Freya hadn’t put the files in his drawer.

Freya snapped out of her thoughts and quickly finished organizing, putting the files in the drawer.

She walked over and asked, “Why don’t you put this patient’s file with the others?”

“She’s my friend’s wife, so I want to take special care of her.” Dr. Peters said casually.

Freya nodded in understanding.

“We have a new patient with congenital heart disease. Take him for an X-ray.” Dr. Peters instructed.

Freya agreed. She took the patient to the radiology department. Passing by the ultrasound room, she saw the ‘reporter’ she had seen before coming out. And Rylan Hawke was supporting her, carefully, with a smile on his face. “Darling, are you okay?”

The ‘reporter’ shook her head.

Before, Freya thought this woman looked like Liora, but she didn’t expect her to be Rylan’s wife.

Could it be that Rylan married her because she looked like Liora?

Rylan was too devoted.

As Freya was lost in thought, the woman who looked like Liora noticed her. Her eyes first widened in surprise, as if unexpectedly seeing her, but quickly a hint of resentment crept in.

Last time, Freya felt that the woman’s gaze towards her was off, and now she saw it clearly. Her eyebrows furrowed involuntarily. She had no idea why this woman was so unfriendly towards her.

Rylan saw Freya and immediately pulled his wife away. He whispered, “You’re pregnant now, we can deal with revenge later.”

But his wife had no intention of giving up.

“We’ll see.”

She relied on Rylan now, so she didn’t dare to defy his wishes too much. This child was not what she wanted. She had been taking precautions, but still ended up getting pregnant. Rylan loved the child and she had no choice but to keep it. But if this child became a hindrance on her path to revenge, she had to find a way to get rid of it.

After finishing her shift, Freya went to the ultrasound room to check the file of the woman she had encountered earlier.

Gender: Female

Age: 21

Name: Sabrina Bush

It wasn’t Liora Valentine. And their ages were all different.

Freya couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was off about that woman, especially the way she looked at her. She needed to find out. But Elijah’s situation wasn’t resolved yet, and she couldn’t cause more trouble for him. So she had to investigate secretly.

By the time Freya left the hospital, it was already 8 pm. Since she wasn’t on duty today, it was considered early. Instead of going home right away, she took the information about Sabrina Bush and brought it back with her. She wanted Zane to help her with the investigation. However, as she entered, she saw Luna applying medication to Zane. Zane’s injuries were worse than Elijah’s, and his arm had just started to regain mobility.

Freya walked in, teasingly saying, “Oh Zane, aren’t you lucky?”

Zane smiled, a bit shy and reserved, not daring to look directly at Freya. Luna had been helping him with his wounds since she arrived here. He knew Luna and Freya were friends. And Luna’s skills in applying medication were professional. He knew she was also a doctor.

Freya approached and leaned towards Zane’s ear, asking, “So, Luna’s skills are quite professional, huh?”

Zane nodded without hesitation. Freya whispered in his ear, “But I think you’re the first living person in her hands.”

That statement sounded so eerie, giving goosebumps.

“What do you mean, Freya?” Zane blinked.

Freya straightened up, “She didn’t tell you?”

“Tell me what?” Zane blinked.

“She’s a forensic doctor, specialized in examining injuries on the deceased. Aren’t you one of the very few living people she has treated?” Freya said.

Zane stared at Freya for a couple of seconds, then jumped up from the couch. He looked at Luna, stuttering and struggling to form coherent sentences, “You, you really examine injuries on dead people?”

Luna nodded, knowing that Freya was teasing him, deliberately saying something terrifying, “I’ve never treated living people before. You’re truly the first one. Normally, my hands handle surgical knives, cutting open dead bodies, dissecting them…”

“Stop it.” Zane swallowed hard, scared. He stared at Luna’s hands.

Her hands were pretty, fair, with distinct knuckles. But thinking about what she just said, examining injuries on the dead. Unconsciously, goosebumps rose on his skin.

“You guys are so mean, always picking on me.” Zane felt wronged.

Freya and Luna burst into laughter. Luna noticed something in Freya’s hands and asked, “What do you have there?”

Freya sat down on the couch, about to answer, but suddenly a dark shadow fell before her eyes.

Her face turned pale.
