You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 213 Insane

Freya was startled by the sudden thud, her hand frozen mid-air. She quickly adjusted her expression, trying to appear unaffected. Evan, who opened the door, saw Freya and awkwardly avoided eye contact.

Why was he acting like this? Even Evan himself wasn’t sure. Maybe it was because of the conversation he had with Elijah just now. Was it inappropriate for Freya to overhear?

Was that why he felt guilty?

Freya smiled, “Are you done with your discussion? Linda has prepared the food. If you’re finished with work, we can eat.”

Evan looked at her. Freya’s smile was impeccable. He couldn’t see any flaws. He inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief. She probably didn’t hear anything. Otherwise, it would lead to unnecessary misunderstandings.

“We’re done with our discussion,” Evan said.

Freya glanced inside the room, caught Elijah’s gaze, and immediately raised a smile. But she didn’t say anything, just casually shifted her gaze away, carrying Kai as she turned towards the room.

Elijah instructed Xander and Evan to go to the dining room first, while he followed Freya to the room. Freya was changing Kai’s diaper. When she heard the door sound, she looked up and saw him. Smiling, she said, “You go ahead and eat. Kai might be tired; I need to put him to sleep.”

Elijah walked in, sensing Freya’s emotions. He asked, “Did you hear what I said just now?”

Freya immediately shook her head. “What did you say?”

She might have realized that Elijah had some suspicions, so she reached up and touched her face, asking, “Is my complexion not good?”

Without waiting for Elijah’s reply, she continued, “I’ve been tired from work these past few days.”

“I’ll take care of Kai. You go eat and rest early.” Elijah approached.

Freya finished changing Kai’s diaper, stood up, and lightly hummed in agreement. As she was about to leave, Elijah grabbed her hand. Her hand was cool and soft.

Elijah held it in his palm and gave it a squeeze. “If it’s too tiring, you can give up…”

“I love my job,” she turned back to look at Elijah.

Elijah pressed his lips together, not saying anything.

Freya smiled and said, “I’ll go eat now.”

After saying that, she let go of his hand and walked out of the room. Closing the door behind her, she stood at the entrance, her relaxed expression fading away. She didn’t ask because she didn’t want to hear Elijah lie. Nor did she want to hear the truth. She was afraid that it would be an answer that would only hurt her. She just wanted to remember that Elijah would really risk his life to save her when danger came. As for the people who were important to him in his heart, they didn’t matter to her.

How could Elijah have lived until now without having a few secrets?

He wasn’t abnormal, it was normal for him to have had women before. But Freya needed a little time to accept and forget. She adjusted her mood and walked into the dining room.

Evan and Xander were already seated, but they hadn’t touched their forks.

“Elijah is with Kai, let’s eat first,” Freya said as she sat down.

“Should we wait for Mr Silverton…” Evan started to say.

“No need,” Freya picked up her fork, scooped up some food, and brought it to her mouth, saying, “You guys can start eating too.”

Only then did Xander and Evan pick up their forks.

“Do you want to have some wine?” Freya asked.

Xander didn’t say anything because he didn’t care, he could drink or not drink.

Evan said, “I have something to do tomorrow, in case I drink too much and it affects it.”

He politely declined. Freya didn’t insist, she was just casually asking.

Evan’s phone suddenly rang, and he got up to answer it in the living room. Freya glanced at him. Evan was more thoughtful and cautious than Xander. She wanted to find out about the person Elijah had hidden in his heart, and she probably could only find out from Xander’s mouth.

Freya pushed the dish that Linda prepared in front of Xander and smiled, “Linda’s sweet and sour fish is even tastier than the ones in the restaurant, have some more.”

Xander was pleasantly surprised and quickly took a piece.

Indeed, it tasted good, and he praised, “Hmm, it’s delicious.”

Freya bit her fork, looking at him, “Xander, how long have you been with Elijah?”

Xander had food in his mouth and mumbled, “For a long time, I haven’t really counted.”

Freya nodded, “And about Elijah’s past, you probably know most of it, right?”

Xander nodded, “Most of it.”

“How many girlfriends has Elijah had at his age?”

Xander’s hand, holding the food, seemed to freeze in place as he watched Freya swallow her bite of food. He spoke, “Mr Silverton has never been in a relationship.”

He wasn’t dumb, it was obvious that she was trying to get something out of him. And what he said was the truth.

“Don’t overthink it, really, Mr Silverton is clean…”

“How do you know that?” Freya picked up a piece of lotus root with her fork and slowly chewed on it, “Who he slept with, would he tell you?”

Xander paused, with food in his mouth, and mumbled, “…”

In an instant, the delicious food on the table lost its taste for him.

“Even though Mr Silverton won’t tell me about his personal life, I’m still by his side and I know things about him. I can assure you, Mr Silverton hasn’t…”

“Xander, don’t be nervous. I’m not angry. I just feel like I know too little about him. I just want to understand him a little more. He risked his life to save me, and his injuries haven’t fully healed yet. Would I really argue with him over trivial matters? Let me tell you, I wouldn’t. I really just want to understand him, that’s all.” Freya explained.

“Really?” Xander was half skeptical.

“Really,” she answered decisively.

Xander patted his chest, afraid of saying the wrong thing. He let out a sigh of relief, his guard relaxing, “I’m not lying either. Mr Silverton has always been busy with work and doesn’t have time for relationships. Of course, there have been many who chased after him, but he ignored them all. He’s never been involved in any ambiguous situations. I even wondered if he was ‘asexual’ or had some abnormality. But then he met you, and I realized that he’s perfectly normal, he just hasn’t found someone he likes.”

Freya picked up a piece of food and handed it to Xander, “I see.”

Xander continued, “Yeah, I can’t lie to you. If there were any, there was only one person who made a lasting impression on him, someone he met when he was a child…”

“Xander, what are you saying?” Evan came back after finishing the phone call and heard Xander saying something weird.

He glanced at Xander, “Are you still running your mouth while eating?”

Xander rolled his eyes, “I’m shutting you up.”

Evan sat down and smiled, “Mrs Silverton, don’t listen to Xander’s nonsense. Mr Silverton’s personal life has always been simple, no messy women. Both Xander and I can vouch for that, right, Xander?”

Evan looked at Xander, his gaze filled with warning.

Xander seemed to catch on and immediately nodded, “Evan is right.”This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.

“You guys are so nervous. It’s just a meal and a casual chat. Okay, since you don’t like it, let’s not talk about this anymore.” Freya proactively changed the topic.

She knew Evan had arrived, and there was nothing more she could ask.

“By the way, are things going smoothly for you guys?” she changed the topic.

Speaking of that, Xander couldn’t contain his excitement. “Arwen Silverton is definitely not going to have a happy ending. She did all sorts of wicked things to gain control over the Silverton family in the past. She tampered with Mr Silverton’s parents’ car, causing the brakes to fail and plunging them into a river. Mr Silverton’s parents tragically lost their lives. And let’s not forget how she ruthlessly harmed Mr Silverton when he was a child. But luckily, Mr Silverton managed to escape her clutches.”
