You Are My Mr Right

Chapter 188 Do You Hold a Grudge Against Me?

Freya opened her eyes, and the bomb’s countdown timer was stuck at 0.

But it didn’t explode.

Just as she was puzzled, Zane spoke up.

“Freya, I wanted to use you to threaten Elijah, to make him admit that he killed my mom. Then I would give the evidence to the police and have him face the law. But I never intended to harm you, so the bomb won’t explode because it’s fake.”

Freya couldn’t believe it. “Zane…”

“I heard every word you two said earlier. Yeah, if Elijah really wanted to kill my mom, he wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of taking her out first. It doesn’t make sense. And it’s obvious that someone is trying to use me…”

He walked over and untied Freya. “Are you mad at me?”

Freya shook her head. “No.”

At this moment, she felt unexpectedly warm in her heart.

Yolanda Steele was dead, and Zane was grieving. It was normal for him to do something extreme. But he used a fake bomb. It showed that he really didn’t want to hurt Freya and considered her family.

Freya hugged him. “Zane, our father is gone, and from now on, you’re my little brother. We will find the culprit behind your mother’s death and make sure they face the consequences of the law.”

Zane nodded. “Thank you. Do you hold a grudge against me?”

Freya didn’t completely let go of her grudges. It’s just that the person was already dead, and all the grievances disappeared with her death. She couldn’t keep holding onto the past.

It was about letting go, for others and for herself. Besides, she and Zane were blood family. She couldn’t harm a living person for the sake of a dead one.

“How could I possibly hold a grudge against you? You were just too upset, and someone took advantage of that,” Freya forced a smile. “From now on, we will work together. We will avenge your mother.”

Zane nodded.

“Who sent you those messages? Have you seen them before?” Freya asked. Now she wanted to know who was behind the trap. If Zane had believed that Elijah had killed Yolanda Steele, and if the bomb weren’t fake, the consequences would have be unimaginable.

“I have seen them…” Zane replied.

“This isn’t the place to talk. Let’s go back,” Elijah suddenly said.

Freya realized that she was being too eager. This place was definitely not suitable. “Let’s go back first.”

Zane agreed.

They walked down the unfinished building. As they passed by the small patch of weeds at the entrance, Elijah’s keen ears picked up a faint beeping sound. He followed the sound and saw the bomb hidden in the bushes.

The countdown timer only had a few seconds left, 5, 4, 3…Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

“A bomb!”

Elijah quickly tackled Freya to the ground.

At the moment they fell, the bomb exploded. With a loud bang, the surrounding grass instantly caught fire. The force of the explosion affected everything around it. Zane reacted a bit slower and was knocked down by the impact of the faulty bomb, losing consciousness.

Freya woke up first. When she tried to move her body, she realized that Elijah was on her back. In order to protect her, he had shielded her from all the danger with his own body.

“Elijah.” Freya pulled away from him, only to find Elijah unconscious as well. As she got up, she noticed that Elijah had injuries on his back and arms. When the bomb exploded, the debris and rubble flew up with the force of the explosion, turning into dangerous weapons.

His injuries were caused by this, and she even saw a stone half-embedded in his flesh on his back. She quickly checked his breathing and listened to the rhythm of his heartbeat, making sure he was only unconscious. Then she went to check on Zane’s condition. Zane was in worse condition than Elijah. Freya took out her phone and immediately dialed 911. While waiting for the arrival of the paramedics, she provided basic first aid to the two unconscious individuals.

It wasn’t until the paramedics arrived that they were taken away. Both of them were sent to the examination room. Since Freya wasn’t officially employed at the hospital, she wasn’t allowed to enter the examination room even if she could be of assistance. After more than an hour, both individuals underwent an examination and it was determined that they had suffered external injuries, which had already been treated. They were now being taken to the ward for observation due to the bomb blast. It was necessary to monitor their condition.

Since they were in different rooms, Freya couldn’t stay by both of their sides at the same time. She called Elowen to come and take care of Zane. She also called their residence, and Linda answered, “Neither Elijah nor I will be able to come tonight. Is Kai behaving well?”

“He’s being very well-behaved. Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of him,” Linda assured her.

With Linda taking care of Kai, Freya felt relieved. “Okay.”

After ending the call, she used Elijah’s phone to call Xander.

Originally, she just wanted to inform Xander that Elijah was injured and wouldn’t be able to come to the company for the time being. She wanted him to call if there was anything urgent. However, as soon as Xander heard that Elijah couldn’t come to the company, he immediately questioned, “Why can’t Mr Silverton come to the company? Has something happened?”

Freya told him the truth, “Elijah is injured.”

Freya provided him with the address.

Within half an hour, Xander arrived at the hospital, and he wasn’t alone. Elijah’s secretary came as well. Seeing Elijah’s secretary, Freya remembered seeing her in Elijah’s office, lost in her own self-admiration. But now, she looked serious and even solemn. If it weren’t for Freya witnessing it with her own eyes, she would never believe it if someone told her.

“How did Mr Silverton get injured?” Elijah’s secretary asked.

“He got injured in the explosion trying to save me…” said Freya.

“Injured from an explosion?” Xander exclaimed, “How did that happen? Could it be the work of the Silverton family?”

“No,” Freya said, “we still don’t know. We’ll have to wait for Zane to wake up to find out.”

The only people who knew where she was taken were Zane and Elijah. If anyone else knew and planted the bomb on their route, it must be someone who instructed Zane.

So Zane should know who it was.

“Is it related to Zane Stone?” Xander asked.

Freya nodded.

The secretary discreetly glanced at Elijah.

Freya calmly said, “We don’t need so many people here. You all can go back first.”

The secretary said, “I can stay here and take care of Mr Silverton. You can go and rest.”

“No, it’s fine. He’s my husband, and I should take care of him. If there’s anything, I’ll contact Xander.” Freya replied.

“Yes, you go back first,” Xander also told the secretary.

The secretary lowered her gaze. “Alright, I’ll go back now.”

She exited the ward. As she neared the door, she looked up, intending to catch a glimpse of Elijah, but instead, she met Freya’s gaze. In an instant, she controlled her expression to appear calm. “I’ll leave now.”

Freya didn’t say anything, just looked at her calmly. If it was only a suspicion before, now Freya was almost certain that the secretary had feelings of admiration for Elijah.

“Xander, how long has that secretary been with Elijah? Does Elijah trust her?” Freya asked.

“She and I have been by Mr Silverton’s side for a long time. She’s capable, and Mr Silverton trusts her.”

Freya nodded knowingly.

“Why do you suddenly ask about this?” Xander inquired.

Freya said, “No reason, just that I’m not very familiar with the people around Elijah, so I wanted to ask.”

Xander didn’t think much of it.

“I’m here, so you can go back,” Freya said.

As she turned her face, she saw Elijah. She didn’t know when he woke up, but he was now looking at her with his eyes wide open.
