Chapter 186 No One Could Have Imagined It Was Her
Zane asked, “What’s wrong, Freya?”
“You see the time? It’s today, and it starts at 9:30 in the morning. It’s already 8:50 now. If I don’t go soon, I’ll be late. I have to leave first; otherwise, your invitation will be wasted. I can’t miss this opportunity.”
She hurriedly stood up and didn’t forget to say thank you to Zane.
Zane looked at her and said, “No need to thank me; you’re my sister.”
“I’ll treat you to a meal next time,” Freya said as she walked out the door. “It has to be something good.”
Freya quickly got into the car when she left.
“Hurry up! We’re going to General Hospital of the Second Military Region,” she told the driver.
The driver started the car immediately and curiously asked her, “Are we going back to the hospital again?”
Freya patiently replied, “Yes, there’s something important that needs my attention. Please drive faster before it gets too late.”
At 9:25 am., Freya arrived at General Hospital of Second Military Region Research Center lobby but found no one there.
She was confused and checked again on her invitation card for confirmation that this was indeed where she was supposed to meet someone.
Why was nobody here?
As she took out her phone intending on calling Zane for help or advice about what could have gone wrong with their meeting place arrangements or if he knew anything about why no one showed up yet when suddenly a faint smell of medicine filled her nose.
Because they were inside a hospital building where disinfectants are heavily used daily throughout its premises making it difficult for Freya initially not recognize what kind of drug scent this was until later when she felt weak all over did she realize what had happened – She had been drugged!
Did someone tricked her into coming here?
Freya tried calling her driver. Suddenly, someone covered Freya’s mouth. She turned around and saw Zane Stone. She widened her eyes in shock, “How could it be you?”NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“I won’t hurt you. Mom is dead now, and you and I are the only ones with blood ties. But I won’t let Elijah off.”
Zane didn’t have the innocent appearance he had in front of Freya at that moment. He was calm and had a maturity Freya had never seen before.
“I explained to you that he has no reason to…”
“He does.” Zane Stone interrupted Freya’s words. “He knows that my mom used to bully you and your mom, so he killed her to avenge you.”
Freya was stunned and soon found the discrepancies. “He didn’t know about my grievances with your mom. Who told you this?”
“You don’t need to know that. Just trust me, I won’t hurt you.”
“Zane…”
Freya wanted to persuade and explain to him, but then she was hit on the back of the head, lost consciousness, and fainted. Zane had her carried onto the stretcher and loaded into the car. The car door closed, and he turned to face the person standing under a tree with his back turned.
“I don’t know what your motives are, but I won’t hurt Freya. She’s my only relative now.”
The person standing there didn’t turn around.
Zane got into the car and left.
The person standing there turned around.
It was Rylan Hawke’s newlywed wife, whose expression was evil. Although she also wanted to finish Freya off, she had become more intelligent and couldn’t do it herself. She could only use others. Zane was her chosen object for this revenge. She thought that Zane Stone hated Freya just like Yolanda Steele did.
But who knew that he actually cared about Freya?
Her plan was to kill Yolanda Steele, frame Elijah Silverton, let Zane Stone take care of Elijah and Freya, so that she could control everything from behind the scenes. But Zane didn’t want to hurt Freya, so her plan only worked halfway. Although not completely satisfactory, it still had some effect. For this revenge, she had been planning for a long time. Her layout was very careful and tight.
Xander traced the information address and found the Silverton family, which was deliberately led in her direction. Now Elijah and Jack Silverton were on opposite sides, at a critical moment, so she naturally shifted all blame to the Silverton family members. Plus, she was in the shadows, and everyone thought she was dead. No one would think it was her.
…
It was dark, and Freya still hadn’t come back. The driver looked everywhere but couldn’t find her, so he told Elijah about it.
“What?” Elijah just returned to his residence and hadn’t entered the door yet when the driver told him Freya was missing.
The driver repeated that Freya was gone.
Elijah’s forehead sweat profusely. He was afraid that Freya might be in danger, and he was angry at the driver.
“How long?” Elijah asked.
“It’s been six or seven hours since then. She got off the car and I went to park it. When I came back, I didn’t see her. I thought she went to handle something and waited for her here, but she never came out. I looked for her but couldn’t find her…”
Elijah was angry. “I told you to protect her safety.”
“I’m sorry,” the driver said.
Now Elijah didn’t want to hear apologies.
“Where did she disappear?”
“General Hospital of the Second Military Region.”
Elijah hung up the phone and turned to stride towards his car. As he walked, he dialed Xander’s number, but before he could finish dialing, his phone rang.
It was Freya’s phone number.
He picked up immediately.
“Freya…”
“This is Zane Stone. I’m using my sister’s phone to call you, but I’m not her.” Zane’s voice was cold. “If you want to save her, come to the abandoned building in Nexus. You better come alone, otherwise, I’m not sure if you’ll still be able to see her.”
“Don’t hurt her.” Elijah didn’t panic or raise his voice; he spoke very calmly, but Zane Stone still shivered.
There seemed to be an invisible sense of oppression. He hadn’t even seen his face; it was just through the phone that he heard Elijah’s voice. Zane still didn’t have enough experience, and he couldn’t compare in terms of momentum. He could only pretend to be calm. “Whether or not I hurt her depends on you.”
He hung up the phone.
Elijah got in the car, navigated to the address Zane Stone had given him, and stopped the car. He got out and walked inside. It was very desolate here, with dilapidated bricks, rocks, and wood everywhere, and concrete frames in the darkness, cold and desolate.
He took a step forward, but didn’t see anyone. At this time, his phone rang. It was a message from Freya’s phone.
The message said, “Sorry, I gave you the wrong address. Come to East Pier.”
The sender was Zane Stone. His actions were obviously deliberate to mess with Elijah.
Elijah’s face darkened.
Right now he had no choice but to deal with Zane Stone since Freya was in his hands. He turned around and got back in the car, driving to East Pier. As soon as Elijah got there, his phone rang again.
It was another message from Zane Stone, “Oh, sorry again, I sent you the wrong address.”
Elijah didn’t move, staring at the screen, expecting another message.
The message came, “I’m really sorry, it’s still the original address.”
Elijah gritted his teeth and restarted the car. He drove back to the abandoned building.
The car stopped, but he didn’t get off immediately. Who knew if Zane Stone would ‘childishly’ give the wrong address again?
After a short while, Elijah got off the car and walked up the stairs covered in cement dust.
This time, he saw Freya.
