Chapter 65
Chapter 65 I’m Giving Up My Shares “You're not to blame.”
Maia’s meiner once told her that even though Homer had cheated on her with Yvette, the child they had was innocent. Hope could not choose her parents, so she should not be held responsible for their actions. Maia would never forget it.
“Thank you, Maia. | thought you hated me, so | avoided you and my brother. Thank you for accepting me as part of your family!” Hope smiled sincerely. She was so happy that she was about to start dancing. “So, what brings you here?”
“| know my mother has wronged you and Errol. I’m not going to ask you to forgive her. But I'd like to ask you to see Dad. Ever since the news, he has been sick. He told me he wanted to tell you something, but you wouldn't answer his calls.” Hope pleaded.
“| don't wish to see him.”
“| know that he has hurt you deeply. Still, he’s your father. Just see him one last time, please! | was given some winery shares. | will return them to Errol as long as you see Dad. | can give you anything!”
“What did you just say?” Maia looked at Hope in disbelief.
“I'm willing to give up everything just for you to return and see Dad. He is sick!”Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“You're willing to surrender your shares?”
Did Hope even realize what she was promising?
Hope eyed Maia with determination as she nodded vigorously.
“How can | trust you?” Maia rarely had contact with Hope. She knew nothing about Hope’s character.
“| swear!” Hope raised her hand.
Maia studied Hope closely, and she did not look like she was lying. “My office is equipped with a recording device. Everything that you've said is being recorded.”
“Then I'll make this official. 1, Hope Warren, vowed to surrender my rights as a Burgess shareholder. | would like to pass everything | previously owned to my
and my brother, Errol Burgess,” Hope said clearly.
“Okay, I'll do it.”
ister, Maia Burgess,
“Really? You'll do it?“” Hope hugged Maia as she was overjoyed.
Maia was surprised by this, as she just stood still. She was pretty uncomfortable. After their mother’s passing, her only family was Aunt Tess and Errol. Mala was not used to being treated this warmly
“Thank you, Mala. Let’s go now!”
After Mala relented, Hope was skipping around happily.
“I'm still working.” Maia pointed at the clock on her office wall. “Right! | forgot!” Hope gently patted her head and smiled.
Maia finally understood why Aiken claimed Hope was somewhat like her. After seeing Hope in person, she reminded Maia of her past self, and Maia hoped that she would be able to stay like this forever.
“I'll leave you to your work now. I'll be in the guest waiting room. Let's leave together later!” Hope waved at her and skipped out of her office.
“Wait!”
“What's wrong?”
“| heard that Zera stole one of your jobs?” Maia asked directly.
“Wow, you know about that!” Hope was taken aback for a second before realizing that her sister was the CEO of Starlight Entertainment.
Maia was speechless. It looks like she had quite a silly sister.
“Don’t worry about it. Zera has been doing this for a while now. | wasn’t the only one who got robbed!” Hope brushed this off nonchalantly.
Maia nodded.
“You should get back to work now! I’m leaving!”
As Hope left Maia’s office, she came across Buck, who was about to enter Maia’s room with a stack of documents.
“You look happy. Did Ms. Maja agree to do it?”
“Yes, she did! Thank you for taking care of me this past week!” Hope smiled brightly.
“No worries. All | did was bring some snacks and tea for you. Besides, this was under Ms.
Maia’s instructions.”
“My sister asked you to do it?” Hope widened her eyes in disbelief. +15 RONUS
Buck nodded. “Ms. Mala is a very kind woman.”
“Of course she is! | saw how she shut the reporters down when she was in Eldertown. She was so cool! Buck, you should go in now. I’m going to the guest room to walt for her. See you around!”
Hope sauntered toward the empty rooms on the floor. She had spent a few days at the office and knew exactly where to go.
Buck continued to stare after her and mumbled something inaudible. He finally shifted his gaze towards Maia’s office when Hope was no longer in view. Maia had so happened to be leaning against her door frame, observing him.
“My sister is beautiful, isn’t she?” “Huh?” Was all Buck could manage when he realized that Maia was observing him.
He quickly regained his composure and announced, “I’m here to bring you these reports. It was just coincidental that she was here too.”
Maia smiled at Buck’s flustered face. She took the documents from him and returned to her office without teasing him further.
“Ms. Maia, I've been observing Mr. Jordan’s work. Despite working in telecommunications, he does great work. The mess that the previous CFO left has all been settled. Now, the finance. department is a fully functional entity.”
“I'm not surprised at all. He’s Jordan Cantrell, after all. As long as he’s there, we no longer need to worry about the finance department!”
