Susie was the only person Maia had seen in several days. After dinner, when Susie cleared the table, the glass container fell to the floor and shattered with a crash.
Looking flustered, Susie quickly said, “Oh my, I’m so clumsy! I'll clean it up right away, Ms. Mala.” Maia saw the glass shards on the floor and said, “Be careful, okay?” Susie hastily answered, “I will. Thank you, Ms. Maia.”
Maia yawned multiple times while nodding. Feeling tired for no apparent reason, she looked at the clock and saw that it was only around seven.

She went upstairs to her bed and soon drifted off to sleep. After some time, a flurry of footsteps was heard, and she was yanked off the bed.
“Maia, why did you lie to me?”
With a fierce expression, Cedric threw Zera’s phone onto the bed.
Still groggy, Maia heard a recording from the phone. “It’s Maia! That bitch sent her men to do this-” Glancing down, she saw the phone playing a video of Rita yelling on a loop.
“It's not true...” Maia shook her head, but he squeezed her wrist in rage.
“You're a liar!”
Cedric released her, and she slumped onto the bed. Though the bed was soft, she felt disoriented. “| didn’t send anyone to kidnap her, Cedric ”
Before she finished the sentence, he seized her neck. “That’s the evidence! How dare you deny it?” Maia could hardly breathe.
“Where the hell is she?!”
She struggled to shake her head. “You can’t accuse me just because she said so.”
Maia closed her eyes slowly and began to cry. ‘Why? Why couldn’t he believe me? Why would he suspect me just because of what Rita said? She had been so repeatedly let down that she gave up resisting. No matter how she tried, it would be in vain.
Cedric became concerned when he noticed her passive expression and her neck turning red. He could almost hear the gentle voice calling to him repeatedly.
shit!” he cursed.
He couldn't bring himself to do it. When he released her, Maia collapsed onto the bed and coughed violently. “Maia, you'll never walk out of here again!”
‘Is he trying to imprison me forever?’ Teary—eyed, Maia glared at him in despair as she trembled.
“| hate you, Cedric!” She shouted after him with all the strength left in her.
