Chapter 74: How Did You Know?
Chapter 74: How Did You Know?
“You want me to apologize to this bitch? Your wish! I won’t make an apology even if I die.” Allison
glared at Maxwell fiercely and maliciously, showing no intention of making a compromise.
“That’s true. We’ve been kind enough since we didn’t ask that bitch to kneel down to beg for the
opportunity to come back to the Sandoval family. You’re just a live-in son-in-law, don’t go too far!”
Cecilia chimed in.
Other relatives of the Sandoval family also glared at Maxwell coldly.
Greta hadn’t said a word about this, was he, a live-in son-in-law, be qualified to express himself here?
He was the most unqualified one to say something here. How dare he boss Andreas’ aunt around? Did
he want to die?
Was he being complacent after saving Lennon?
Even Greta was stunned for a moment with shock written all over on her beautiful face.
What did Maxwell plan to do?
Greta tightly furrowed her brows. Lennon was still present, yet Maxwell asked Allison and Cecilia to
make an apology without any scruples about what impact it might have.
“Maxwell, don’t embarrass her here.” Greta leaned forward and whispered in his ear. Her voice was so
low that if it wasn’t because she was talking in his ear, Maxwell would fail to hear it clearly.
Nevertheless, Maxwell ignored her words as if he hadn’t heard it. He fixated his eyes on the Sandovals
and said in a clam yet indubitable tone, “Make an apology.”
Harriet was standing at the side and watching the show with great interest. She had a hunch based on
the sensitive intuition shared by women that there would be a great show later.
“You spit insults at Ms. Greta just now, yet now you refuse to make an apology? It’s really
unreasonable!” The ole man also chimed in.
Andreas was frozen on the spot with coldness written all over his face and his brows knitted tightly.
Apparently Maxwell was forcing them… Nonetheless, how could Andreas Sandoval, a specially
privileged person, concede defeat in this invisible battle?
He, Andreas Sandoval, had never thrown in the towel in front of any others as it was his rule that others
should make concessions to him!
He was the second young master of the Sandoval family and was born to be superior. No one had ever
dared to talk with him in that kind of tone, except Maxwell!
“Maxwell, I remind you… enough is enough.” Andreas spit out his last warning and suggestion.
“Get lost!” Maxwell glanced at him coldly and spit out the two words.
Andreas’ expressions turned frosty as he looked at Maxwell coldly with daggers in his eyes.
Maxwell was getting bolder and bolder!
“Great, great, great…” Andreas cracked a smile. Only the members of the Sandoval family knew that
he smiled because he was extremely irritated - Mr. Andreas had been completely provoked by Maxwell!
“Andreas, forget it. This matter was actually caused by your aunts Allison and Cecilia. Just let them
make an apology and this matter will be over.” A sound suddenly rumbled from the side. Andreas
turned his head following the sound and saw it was Lennon who was speaking slowly and calmly.
Andreas narrowed his eyes slightly with a touch of astonishment flashing across his unfathomable
eyes.
Allison and Cecilia’s faces turned extremely pale as they were all startled. Dumbfounded, they looked
at Lennon, thinking, ‘What the hell is going on? Lennon Bole… actually stood up for Maxwell!”
If the one who stood up for Maxwell was an ordinary one, the Sandoval family naturally would not give
a shit to it… But Lennon Bole was different… He was an important official of the nation! Lennon’s single
sentence was enough to set off a storm in the country!
Andreas gazed at Lennon, why Lennon’s gaze was calm yet meaningful.
Their eyes met in the air and it was as if there was an invisible battle between them. Then Andreas
spoke slowly, “Aunt Allison, Aunt Cecilia, apologize to him.”
The room fell into silence again. Allison and Cecilia turned heads to look at Andreas. There were mixed
emotions in their eyes – shock, doubt as well as grievance.
Although Greta looked petrified, she secretly heaved a sigh of relief in heart because she knew that
Lennon was the winner of the invisible battle.
Andreas didn’t dare to offend Lennon, let alone slamming the door behind him, for if he did these, the
Sandoval family and Lennon would become enemies… Even if Andreas was an arrogant person, he
didn’t dare to risk brining big troubles to the family for the sake of trivial matters.
Although Andreas was a privileged young master, Lennon was not only able to ruin him when Andreas
was not powerful enough; he could also overturn everything with a mere snap of the fingers.
Lennon was a super big wig in the capital city and his words could be regarded as the laws… Even
Andreas was inferior in front of him!
Did Andreas dare not to follow Lennon’s order?
Obviously Allison and Cecilia were the kind of shortsighted women as they were not clear about the
situation at the moment and wanted to resist. But when Andreas’ oppressive gaze landed on them,
their hearts thumped wildly and they had to obey his words. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Allison and Cecilia stood up and stared at Maxwell and Greta coldly.
“Sorry.” Allison and Cecilia bit the bullet to make the apology, yet their voices were so small that they
seemed to be dissipating in the air before being heard.
The Sandovals were all shocked and felt extremely embarrassed.
Andrea’ aunts, Allison and Cecilia, actually made an apology.
The Sandovals were born with high statues, and they had never expected that they would have to
admit mistakes one day.
They actually made an apology to an unimpressive live-in son-in-law! What a piece of shocking news!
If this was spread out, it would undoubtedly become the headlines of the newspapers in Ocean City
tomorrow and this piece of news would definitely go virus!
Andreas clenched his fists tightly while gazing at Maxwell, feeling complicated emotions and exuding
tremendous killing intentions.
‘Maxwell, I will remember this. I will let you pay the price one day!’
Greta gazed at Allison and Cecilia. Although she looked composed on the surface, her heart was
thumping wildly.
She hadn’t expected that they had actually made an apology to her!
Even if they were forced to do so and their voice was so small and insincere, it was enough to be an
unforgettable event for Greta.
“Your apology was not sincere enough. Once again.” A casual and calm voice suddenly sounded from
the side, which caused Allison and Cecilia’s expressions to be frozen.
“Maxwell, don’t go too far!” Allison raised her chin and yelled at him. She was so furious that it looked
like she was about to rush towards Maxwell and beat him up.
Maxwell glanced at her coldly and spoke slowly, “I order you to make an apology.”
“Maxwell Kirk…” A trace of horrible coldness flashed across Andreas’ deep-set eyes.
“Andreas, apologize to them sincerely and this matter will be over.” Lennon interrupted him right at the
moment. He was helping Maxwell again!
Andreas shot a cold glance at Maxwell. But he had no choice but to suppress his anger.
“Let’s wait and see.” Cecilia snarled burning with age. She and Allison then suppressed their anger, bit
their teeth and bowed, “Sorry.”
Greta was completely bewildered. She looked at Allison and Cecilia who was bowing to her in a
dumbfounded state and her mind was buzzing.
She had never imagined that Maxwell would still refuse to get over this matter since they had made the
apology. This was like fierce slaps in the faces of the Sandovals.
It was true that the Sandoval family was very superior. The Sandovals had been arrogant and
domineering all the time, as if they were born being superior to others. But now, they had no choice but
to bow and apologize to them.
The arrogance of the Sandovals was a complete nonsense right at this moment.
“Your attitude is quite good this time.” Maxwell nodded in satisfaction and smiled.
“You…” Allison glared at Maxwell fiercely with killing intentions in her gaze.
But in the end, she just let out a cold snort, held up Cecilia’s hand in a fury, pushed open the gold-
overlaid doors and left.
“You become their enemies after this matter.” Greta heaved a long sigh with worries in her eyes.
Maxwell curled his lips into a light smile and his eyes flashed a touch of complicated and unfathomable
light. His eyes were as unfathomable as the starry sky. “Even if we didn’t become enemies this time, do
you think that they will let us go?”
Greta was stunned for a moment and shifted her gaze to Maxwell. Yet Maxwell just blinked at her…
There were overtones in Maxwell’s words.
“All right. I invited you guys to have meal together, but I hadn’t expected that you would have a quarrel,
which had your spirits dampened. I feel very sorry about this.” Lennon chuckled and said.
Greta shook her head, “You must be joking, Mr. Lennon. None of us had expected this. Sorry for being
impolite and having bothered you.”
“Enjoy the meal, enjoy the meal. The dishes are all cooked by a national-level chef and many dishes
are to be served.” Lennon said with a smile.
“Enjoy it.” Harriet said in a charming voice, picked up the knife and fork and cut off a steak.
After finishing the meal and before Maxwell and Greta’s leaving, Lennon said to Greta, “Ms. Greta,
please deliver my greetings to your father. I have some matters to attend to in Beijing recently. When I
come to Ocean City the other day, I’ll visit him in person.”
“Thank you, Mr. Lennon.” Greta smiled lightly.
“By the way, if you need my help in the future, feel free to call me. I will let my assistant give you my
phone numbers later… Mr. Maxwell, you’ve saved my life, I, Lennon Bole, will never forget your great
kindness.” Lennon laughed passionately and pressed two gift boxes into Greta’s hand.
“Mr. Lennon… I…I can’t take these.” Greta’s expressions changed slightly. Since Lennon was in high
position in the government, the gifts he sent would be definitely expensive ones… She had built a good
relationship with Lennon, and she could not be greedy to receive the gift!
“Ms. Greta, I sincerely want to gift them to you. Just regard it as my apology for the things happened
today. If Ms. Greta refuses to take them, I would think that it’s because you refuse to forgive me,” said
Lennon.
Greta gave in, took the gifts and said in a charming voice, “Thank you for your presents. I will banquet
you if given a chance.”
After the pleasantries, Lennon finally sent Maxwell, Greta and Harriet out of the hotel.
After Greta and Harriet getting on the Maybach and when Maxwell was about to board on the driver’s
seat, a sound suddenly rumbled from behind, “Mr. Maxwell, wait a moment.”
Maxwell turned around and saw an old man running out of the hotel.
He was actually the chairman of the Medical Association of Ocean City, the old man who treated
Lennon’s illness back then.
“It’s you?” Maxwell narrowed his eyes and curled his lips into a smile, “What’s the matter? Spill the
beans.”
The old man glanced around and whispered, “Let’s talk about it in the other place.”
The two of them went to a corner and the old man asked with his eyes fixating on Maxwell, “Maxwell,
no more than three persons in the whole China are able to figure out this prescription… I wonder where
you got the prescription.”
“Guess it.” Maxwell curled his lips into a meaningful and mysterious smile.
“When my father was mortified in the face of the incurable disease back then, a mysterious person
showed up and gave him some suggestions, which enlightened him. And he then wrote down the
uncompleted prescription…” The old man spoke slowly and continued, “My father had tried to find the
mysterious person, but failed…”
He then stared at Maxwell excitedly, “Mr. Maxwell, if someone has bestowed you the prescription, I
guess he might be the one who had helped my father back then… I wonder if you know about the
whereabouts of that mysterious person.”
“Your father?” Maxwell furrowed his brows slightly and soon remained composed again, “Did your
father die five years ago?”
“How… How did you know?” The old man was so shocked and stared at Maxwell as if he had seen a
ghost!
