Chapter 15 Are You Healthy Enough?
Chapter 15 Are You Healthy Enough?
During dinner, Kara mentioned going back to school.
"Uncle James, I'm a senior. I don't have much time before the college entrance exam. I should work
harder."
Since she entered high school, Sophia had been telling her that she was in poor health and she should
not overwork herself. She did not need to put much effort into it.
Now she realized that it was Aunty Sophia's excuse to make her a useless person!
She wanted to be independent and self-reliant, so she can't fall behind in her studies.
Kara said urgently. Her voice was soft and low. It was like a warm spring breeze blowing by his ears.
He felt warmth in his heart.
"Do you think you are healthy enough?"
Kara nodded seriously. She was sure of it.
James did not say anything else. He got up early the next day and knocked on her door. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Kara was annoyed to hear the knock, but she managed to get up.
At last, she was carried back by him. And she fell asleep on his back.
When James put her down, he heard her breathing. He raised his eyebrows. This girl was having a
deep sleep.
"Mr. James, breakfast..."
"Be quiet. Kara is sleeping." James whispered.
"..."
Libby followed him upstairs and muttered to herself, 'Mr. James has taken this little girl as her
daughter.'
When Kara woke up again, she didn't know what time it was. She washed up and went downstairs.
Only then did she know that it was afternoon.
Thinking of the promise she made to Uncle James yesterday, she felt a little embarrassed.
...
She rested for three days. James consulted Will before he agreed to let her go to school.
"Uncle James, you don't have to send me to school."
Kara got into the car and saw James. She was surprised and realized that he was going with her.
"It's alright. Let's go."
James said indifferently to Mason, the driver. His voice was a bit cold.
Kara felt that she had been bothering him with her matters. She felt a bit sorry. There wasn't much
space in the car. She was nervous and kept silent with her head lowered.
James was not a talkative person. He supported his head with one arm and closed his eyes to rest.
They soon arrived at school. Kara let out a long sigh of relief when she got out of the car. Standing
outside the car window, she could see his handsome face under the sun. Her heart beat wildly, and her
cheeks turned red.
"Uncle James, this is me."
She wanted to thank him for sending her to school, but she paused. He had emphasized many times
that she didn't need to thank him.
"Uncle James, have a good day. I will study hard."
The little girl nervously bit her pink lips and said with a serious expression. James could not help but
chuckle.
"Call me if you need anything. I'll pick you up after school."
"..."
Kara went to the classroom. She felt delighted as she thought of James' gentle voice.
"Hey, Miss Sickly, why did you come to school? I thought you are gone."
Arya, Kara's desk mate, put her arm on Kara's shoulder and said in a mocking tone.
Kara had a bad health and was not welcome in her family, so Arya always joked that she was Miss
Sickly with miserable fortunes.
However, Kara did not like that nickname. She didn't want to be thought as sentimental, high-hearted,
and short-lived.
Looking at Arya's worried eyes, she now felt that Arya really cared about her. As for those who kept
flattering her, they were Sophia's lackeys!
Kara didn't want to hide anything from Arya about her and the Quains, so she told Arya that she was
nearly beaten to death in the villa.
"It's good to leave the Quains. I've told you they are monsters. They will gobble you up."
Kara was glad to have the support of her good friend. She nodded with a smile. They continued to chat.
"What's the homework?" Kara asked.
As Kara mentioned study, Arya's mouth twitched. She pointed at the drawer filled with test papers.
"I'm an academic loser. How could you ask me about study? Do you think I know the answer?"
"..."
Kara smiled bitterly. The grades of her and Arya had been at the bottom of the class.
Kara took out the test papers. There were a dozen of them. She felt stressed. It was a huge task!
"Kara, I've finished my homework. You can copy mine."
Kara raised her head and saw Rose standing in front of her. There was hatred in her eyes.
Rose was Sophia's niece. This year, she was a repeat student at the best high school in NK City and
had been staying at the Quain's.
Rose liked to talk to Kara. She would ask Kara to tell Sophia about what she needed, either food or
drinks, instead of directly speaking to Sophia.
Kara thought that it was because Rose was not familiar with the Quains, but now she realized that
Rose was just taking advantage of her.
Aunty Sophia said that someone had drugged her. Rose was always with her, so Rose might have get
involved in it!
People around her might poison her at any time. Thinking of this, Kara broke out in a cold sweat and
moved over to keep a distance.
Rose's voice wasn't low when she said this. Many students looked at Kara with contempt.
It was an important period for seniors. However, she didn't focus on study and asked for leaves. Now
she even copied others' homework. She was lying to the teachers. How shameful!
