Marco’s command
Letta immediately got up from her bed, looking at the sunlight that had now entered through the gap in her bedroom window. This made Letta smile as she saw the clock on the bedside table showing six in the morning. These past few days, Letta’s life had felt more orderly. She woke up feeling refreshed, had a sound sleep, and immediately engaged in activities that somewhat comforted her.
Letta quickly cleaned herself up and went out to see Meri, who was getting ready to go to the market.
“Can I come along?” Letta asked, causing Meri to stop and look at her.
“Are you sure you want to come? Doesn’t the sea journey take a few hours? I’ll be shopping a lot there because I’m going to my hometown tomorrow. So I need to buy more than usual,” Meri said, making Letta nod.
“That’s why I want to come. Won’t it be quicker if we both shop together? Besides, you’ll surely need someone to help you, right?” Letta said, making Meri smile.
“Alright, then get ready. We’ll be leaving soon,” Meri said, making Letta nod. As Letta had mentioned earlier, she got some clothes from Meri because their bodies were of the same size. Even though they were just casual clothes and training gear that Meri gave her, they felt comfortable for Letta.
“Shall we go now?” Letta asked when she was ready, making Meri nod. They took the overland route for a few minutes before finally arriving at the port and crossing to the market where Letta first met Meri. The bustling atmosphere immediately filled the port as Letta and Meri arrived, prompting Meri to swiftly enter the market.
“What do we need to buy?” Letta asked, prompting Meri to show her a rather long shopping list, making Letta smile.
“Should we divide it?” Letta asked, causing Meri to shake her head.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
“No need. Besides, it’s your first time shopping too. How about you just follow me and help me carry the items?” Meri said, making Letta nod. They then went from one shop to another, buying materials for the store and their daily necessities. Meri was used to buying her groceries once a week at this market.
But Letta’s movement halted when she saw a luxurious car at the market. It was very unusual. It was unlikely for someone of high rank to shop at this market. Letta’s mind immediately turned to the people who had gathered, dressed in all-black attire identical to the guards usually under Marco’s command. Letta widened her eyes and quickly hid behind the crowd. Meri didn’t miss this.
“Why are you looking for something?” Meri asked, making Letta shake her head.
“No, do we still have a lot to buy?” Letta asked again, making Meri look at her shopping list.
“No, just one more shop to go. After that, we’ll be done and we’ll wait for the boat to take us back,” Meri replied, making Letta nod and continue following Meri’s steps.
Letta occasionally glanced at the group of people. For a while, they seemed to scatter and then regroup before finally leaving the market area. Letta let out a long sigh. Was Marco still looking for her up to this moment, she wondered. It had been several days already. It seemed that Marco was really serious about his words that he wouldn’t let her go. Even if she ran to the ends of the earth, Marco would continue to search for her, Letta thought, making her become more anxious.
Would Marco really be able to find her someday, Letta pondered. But for now, at least Letta could hide for a while. Letta then looked at Meri. They were currently sitting, waiting for the boat to take them across. Letta didn’t intend to bring any harm to Meri and her son. However, Letta didn’t have any other way to hide because it was Meri who was extending her help. But if Marco truly found her someday, Letta would truly beg in any way possible for Marco not to touch Meri and anything around her.
For now, Letta only needed a place to take shelter. Although deep down, she hoped that Marco would never find her. Letta’s reverie was interrupted when Meri patted her shoulder as the boat that would take them arrived. This prompted Letta to quickly bring their shopping items on board.
Letta remained silent. Somehow, seeing those guards still searching for her disturbed the peace she had felt in the past few days. Letta seemed to be enchanted by her hiding from Marco, ignoring the fact that Marco had people who could potentially find her at any time.
“Why, are you hungry or feeling dizzy?” Meri asked, making Letta shake her head while smiling to reassure her.
“No, maybe just a little hot,” Letta said, gazing at the high sun and the bright blue sky.
“Yes, the weather is really nice right now. Oh, for the next few days, I think I have to close my shop, and I’ll freeze these groceries,” Meri said.
“Why freeze them? Let’s just keep the shop open. Aren’t Sean and I here?” Letta said, making Meri fall silent.
“Even though it’s the weekend tomorrow, I’m not sure if Sean would be willing to open the shop on his own,” Meri replied.
“Of course he would. I’ll help him. Don’t worry, you can go back to your hometown peacefully. I’ll take care of things here. Besides, it’s a shame if the shop is closed on the weekend,” Letta said, making Meri nod.
“I’ll talk to Sean later. Maybe he’ll agree to open the shop,” Meri said, making Letta smile. They then continued their journey until they arrived at the port and boarded a bus to Meri’s house. Upon arrival, they immediately arranged the groceries they had bought as usual. Letta helped Meri quite skillfully, having learned from her over the past few days.
At least for now, Letta could breathe a little easier because her trail had yet to be discovered by Marco’s men. She just needed to enjoy what she was experiencing now, living a normal life without thinking about the man who might have intentions to kill her, Letta thought.
