CHAPTER 14
Selene stares at him as blood spurted out. He goes silent as the excruciating pain threatened to rip him apart. The duvet was a bloody mess… same as Selene palms. She blinks and drops the revolver on the duvet. He stared at her, and parted his mouth in shallow breathing. His gonna be dead soon. He won’t ever go out on expensive crusies and won’t club anymore. No more would he have girls almost every night and when he pleases. She untied his wrists and it fell limply to his sides. He didn’t recognize the girl. Hell he has done that to a lot of girls. He struggled to keep his eyes open.. struggled to stay alive, but it seemed impossible. Breath was gradually failing him. Maybe it was his punishment for all the things he’s done. He was barely aware of selene. The next thing he felt was the duvet slowly covering him, wrapping around him alongside the revolver. The only thing he heard was her ragged tired breathing. He felt her hand slip under his back and she lifted him up. He felt dizzy, air rushing into the bullet wound and choking him. Soon he was staggering on his feet. He shut his eyes gradually giving in to death.
Selene hands hurt as she she struggled to pull him towards the balcony. Blood trickled down as it created a mess on the floorboards. Her head throbbed like crazy, the metallic smell of blood fills the room, as she bite down the overwhelming urge to puke. She suck in her breath as she got to the waist length railings. Shivers run down her spine as she takes her arm off him and shoves him forward. He lurched forward and tumbled out. The fluffy white duvet streaked with blood goes down with his weight and finally falls into the water with a huge splash.
“Goodnight” Selene whispered wearily as she stared down at the blue inky water. She run her fingers through her tangled locks already feeling lightheaded. She turned to stare at the blood that trailed down from the bed to the balcony.
In as much as she seeked revenge, she couldn’t bear the thought of the cops having to swarm the entire boathouse looking for evidences that led to his murder. She’d just have to clean up. She walked to the nightstand and picked up his phone, scrolling through his contact she searched for the names of his two friends. She punched the numbers into her phone and walked back to the balcony. She tossed it down before striding to the ensuite bathroom to clean up the bloody mess on the floor.
Soon she was done cleaning, making sure everything was back in order before walking out of the boathouse. She slipped into her car and headed to the one place she needed right now… a club.
••••
“Morning Wayne” Fiona greets as he walks into the kitchen.
“Hey little one” Wayne says gruffly as he sits on a stool. She chuckled, pouring coffee into a mug and sliding it across him.
“Black, just like you love it” She smirks.
“Thanks sister” He rolls his eyes as he takes a sip.
“Mom waited for you to arrive yesternight. So did I but it felt like you were taking forever” Wayne sighs lowly.
“I had to spend time with Zach at his place” He run his palm down his face “And we talked for a while” He added taking a gulp from his coffee . Fiona shrugs and sets her mug of tea on the counter. This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
“You seem really worried brother… what’s the issue” She asked worriedly. Jeez! could it be he’s working extra hours so he could pay her college fees!.
“It’s Zach… he seems particularly obsessed about Selene… we talked last night but I can bet on my last penny he doesn’t wanna back off” He says, exasperated. Fiona widen her eyes before giggling.
“Yeah wayne… Selene has always been irresistible” She conceded and winks. Wayne groans internally.
“What do you find so fascinating about her… she’s causing unhealthy stirs in Miami and hell!.. I bet a thousand homes might be in chaos because of her” He huffed and she chortled loudly.
“Really brother I don’t think its her fault. Those dweebs aren’t responsible and its not her fault they can’t keep their minds off her. Besides a lot of ladies love her. She’s generous and nice too” She shrugs a shoulder and drained the contents of her cup before sliding off the stool. She drops the cup in the sink and turns to meet Wayne thoughtful gaze.
“Do you like her” Fiona smirks and he scoffs.
“Hell no Fiona!, I do hope we don’t cross parts anymore”.! Sometimes he wondered if he meant that. That brief meeting they had made him wonder if he’d love to see her again.
“Hmm… you zoned out already mister. Anyways, if you happen to find out you have feelings for her, voice it out brother and trust me I’d help” She grins and flip her hair dramatically. Wayne chuckles and gets off the stool.
“You’ve been watching too much off romance Fiona.. and its making you have silly thoughts… I’d just go prepare for work” He rolls his eyes and amble out of the kitchen as she laughs.
Selene stared at herself in the mirror as she brushes. She run a wet palm down her hair and sighs. Lately she’s been coming home drunk and wasted. She really doesn’t want to have a bad impression on the workers. She rinse her mouth and itches her hair. Jeez… she needs a beauty care routine. It’s been long she visited the spa. She drops the brush in its holder and turns on the faucet to fill the bathtub. She really wasn’t supposed to be doing this, obviously the work of her maids. But she loves to spend time alone. It was the only comfort she had. Though she had Bill who was always there, she felt more comfortable alone.
Stripping off her nighties, she slipped into the bathub and submerged herself fully into the water. She smiled as she remembered those times she spent in the orphanage. Though she never had any friend she loved to swim and could stay under water longer than anyone her age. She raised her head out of the water as she remembered the guy she drowned yesternight. He didn’t look like one who would last long under water. She sighed and begins to rub lather against her skin. A smirk tugs at her lips and she remembered Zachary Campbell and his hot piece of eye candy secretary. Heaven knows she hasn’t stopped thinking of him. The embarrassment he caused her that night was totally unexpected. Fuck whatever hard to get game he’s trying to play. She’s gonna get him come what may, and she’d see just how well he would resist her.
She steps out of the bathtub and wrap a towel around her frame. She walks out and opens her closet, staring at the expensive dresses and rows of perfect glittery stilettos. She riffled through and selected a comfortable suit pants and a white creamy top. She was visiting the rest of the companies in Miami to see how well they are running its affairs. The one thing she’d never do is taking her work for granted. She’s passed through a lot quite alright and she’d do all she can to make sure she’s never broke again. Selene sits at her makeup table and blows dry her hair. She brushes it down and curl the edges till they are bouncy. Her phone dings and she picks it up. Ignoring the tons of messages popping on her screen she searched for Zachary Campbell.
A frown creases her brows as stared at the message she sent.
“Hell… he hasn’t texted back!” She bit her lips in anger.
“Playing hard to get like your green eyed secretary huh” She mutter lowly as she stared at his name. She pushed back her chair and checks herself out in the mirror. She typed his name on the net again and after staring at his information, she hits down his company address. She chuckled and bite down her lips. Good thing it’s a Saturday.
“You’ve got a huge surprise coming your way sugar” She walked back to the bed and slipped her feet into a pair of flats. She picked up her black pearl purse and turned to walk out. She stop in her tracks as she stared at bill watching her from the doorway. She cuss under her breath, not entirely ready for Bill lectures on her drunken state last night.

“I’m glad you were able to come to a amicable agreement Mr Campbell” The short beady eyed man sitting across Zach says.
“The pleasure is mine Mr Leo… I’d schedule another meeting with you probably a lunch date and we’d talk extensively on the business deal… if that’s fine by you” Zach leans back into his seat and the man nods in agreement.
“It’s perfect Zach… Have a wonderful day ahead” He gets off the swivel as they shake hands. He walks out of the office and Zach puffs out tiredly. Sleeplessness and constant smoking and thinking has been his order of the day. He never knew he’d become obsessed over a lady . He’s always been the fuck and pass kind of guy.
Stacey had been his last slampiece before she left Florida. Now she’s back, he seems to fancy Selene and from the look of things she’s into Wayne.. good riddance anyways. A knock at the door jolts him from his thoughts. Wayne steps in and shuts the door close.
“Morning boss…. You have a board meeting in about ten minutes” Zach archs his brows.
“Why wasn’t I informed earlier then?” He asks tiredly.
“All the files were on your desk boss.. you were informed two days ago” Wayne stared at him in pity. Zach threads his fingers into his hair in embarrassment.
“Oh… umm…. alright Wayne thanks. I’d be down in ten minutes” Wayne nods and turns to leave when he heard commotion outside the door. Wayne archs his brows at Zach and opens the door. A flustered brunette walks in.
“I’m sorry boss but she wouldn’t listen when I told her you heard a tight schedule today” She steps sideways as Selene steps in.
Zach looked lost as he stared at her. He gulped down nothing wondering for a splitting moment if she was here for him… or Wayne. Wayne locks gaze with Selene. A small smile tug at her lips as she stared at him. Her dark hair was down. it looked damn soft. The fresh scent of her cologne hits his nose. She was damn gorgeous. The brunette seeing zach is fine with her prescence scurries out of the office. Wayne breaks the stare and turns to look at Zach. Selene smirks and brush past him. She sits across Zach.
“Hi Zachary” Selene smirks as she entwined her fingers. Zach looks behind her in excitement to stare at Wayne. Wayne gets the message and turns to walk out. He wondered if he’s glad she paid no attention to him. He walks out but stops with his hand on the knob. He did what he never thought he’d do, eavesdropping. Her voice filtered towards him, as a huge feeling of dejà vu settling in his guts.
“Hey sugar… we’ve got business”..
