Faded Facade
Chapter 11 Faded Facade
Shock.
It was an emotion Raven always thought would rarely occur in her, then again, the presence and current appearance of a man she held so dearly got her feeling immense of it.
Those shaky, shock-filled yet beautiful eyeballs of hers went upwards to glance at the familiar face of Doctor Lee. Yes, that face belonged to the doctor – it belonged to the same man who was among those she always listened to.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Yet…why did he seem so unrecognizable right now?
It wasn’t the lip ring that stood out on those gorgeous lips of it, no – the aura incessantly lingering around him felt so intoxicating.
It was nothing like Doctor Lee’s!
“I… I… I… must have mistaken you…for…for someone else” Raven’s lipstick-covered lips quivered as they stretched into an unstable smile.
She shouldn’t allow herself to believe that this…was Lee – the earth was a vast place, wasn’t it? What possibility was there that Lee didn’t have a lookalike?
Raven had to believe in that thought; this man was Alfredo Sanchez – the other Leader of the Stray Dogs.
A being that embodied mercilessness and bloodthirsty; she knew that much from the always-chattering waitress back at the restaurant.
His identity was surprisingly kept a secret unlike his brother, so no one truly knew what he looked like, then again, most were certain he’d bear a striking resemblance to Alfonso.
And honestly, that wild guess was accurately realistic – well, asides from the fact that Alfonso could be dimmed more superior in looks and body frame.
The man who stood in front of Raven, sneering in blood and wearing a dumbfounded expression was her doctor Lee, but was he?
Overwhelmed by shock, the pulchritudinous lady in a pitch-black wedding dress felt her legs turning numb.
They eventually gave way and as she almost kissed the carpeted ground, a hand grabbed hold of her wrist. It pulled her and her chest soon collided with a board chest, yet an overly recognizable scent thrust into her nostrils.
That was Lee’s scent.
While her trembling hands rested on his well-built chest, his eyes were coldly pinned on the Stray Dogs who accompanied her.
Danger shone brightly in his eyes, and without any utterance, every individual in the room did a light bow and then exited – leaving the two alone.
Ultimate silence would have prevailed, then again the continuous whimpers of Raven disallowed it.
Raven again, the familiarity his voice held got her lifting her disbelieved eyes to glance at him.
Since he was staring worriedly down at her, their orbs locked instantly, but unlike the concern flooding his eyes, hers were…fear and shock.
“Y-Y-You’re Lee, right? You’re Lee, aren’t you?” she rasped, her body automatically withdrawing from his, yet his arm was solidly wrapped around her waist.
“Raven, calm down. Stop struggling please” he whispered gently only for a resounding slap to kiss his cheek brutally.
She expected him to let go of her, instead his grip tightened on her waist – Raven was practically caged to his body.
Why wouldn’t he let her go? Was he planning to kill her now that she uncovered his identity?
Her struggles died down, then eyes centered on his flawless face – how come it took her so long to discover who he was?
Just like the devil who crashed her undesired wedding, they both possessed mesmerizing pairs of oceanic blue eyes. His disheveled hair certainly got the lengthy strands resting partly on his face, which gave him a distant yet lethally breathtaking look.
“So… You’re a Mafia? You also kill people for a living, huh?” slowly her shock dissipated and anger took its place.
Lee, or rather Alfredo, could see the change in her countenance and gulped down guiltily.
“You kill people for a living while pretending to save them? Ha! How original! Some shitty-ass doctor you are. Tell me, were you planning to kill my dad discreetly and…”
“Raven!” he abruptly yelled, cutting her statement short, but she kept glaring murderously at him.
To think she’d consider something like that was… absurd. Then again, what was Alfredo expecting? To her, he wasn’t Lee anymore, but Alfredo Sanchez – the Leader of a Crime Syndicate.
Raven felt his grip tighten on her waist as he began leaning in closer and unlike her, she didn’t try to invade the closeness.
Instead, remained still, then again flinched a little when their foreheads rested mildly on one another. The tip of their noses were brushing gently and soon, Raven felt the usual thumps of her heart.
Something she always felt whenever they shared close contact. Raven, look at me; don’t ignore my gaze, please
Again, the softness of his voice got her locking eyes with him – he was unexpectedly wistfully filled with different emotions.
How would he ever explain to her his current position? Being a mafia was something hereditary in their Family – it wasn’t his fault he was born a twin, right?
“You’ll explain everything to me, won’t you? Le… I mean Alfredo” mere addressing him as such made her tongue sour.
Would she ever accept him as a mafia? He smiled halfly then went ahead to entwine their lips as her eyes went shut, then again it never happened due to his appearance.
Without even speaking, the sudden chill in the air signified Alfonso’s entrance. At the scene of his brother almost kissing his newly acquired possession, a smirk crept up his lips.
While he walked closer, Alfredo had instinctively lifted his head to glance at him – the two shared icy gazes.
