Chapter 464
The atmosphere was electric just moments ago.
The folks from Polaris Star were still marveling - true offspring of the Schnabel family, no doubt.
Watching Jasper holding Noella and choking up, even Xavier fell silent.
"This kid... sure is an interesting character..."
Forget the looks being nothing like Breeze's; this personality didn't match the ruthless heir of the Toxic Monarch one bit!
Noella patted Jasper's back.
"I'm fine, Jasper. You okay?"
"I'm good. But there was something off with the equipment over there, so I stayed to help them check. That's why I'm late."
After making sure Noella was alright, Jasper finally relaxed.
Holding Noella, Jasper buried his head in her neck, whispering, "This is our secret. Jasper will keep it, won't let the family know."
Both knew exactly what they were talking about.
Noella chuckled softly, "Thanks, Jasper."
Jasper understood her!
There was no need for the Schnabel family to know about this chapter at the border.NôvelDrama.Org content.
Sienna and Tristan, with their personalities, would probably lose sleep over it, sobbing every day, worrying about the hardships Noella had to endure. The thought alone was headache-inducing... yet heartwarming.
Jasper let go of Noella, looking around.
"Where's Millie? Haven't seen her."
Noella pointed towards a nearby lookout tower and pursed her lips, "Over there."
Having just returned from the Baker Group, Millie had been sitting alone on the lookout tower, staring intently at the sea, lost in thought.
Jasper climbed up, sitting beside her, waving his hand in front of Millie's face.
"Millie? What's up? Got your bell rung next door?"
Millie forced a smile.
"Do you think life is really short?"
"Huh?"
Jasper felt like he was on high alert!
The image of Noella mentioning Millie's health issues flashed through his mind.
Was it that Millie's health had declined again, bringing her closer to life's end? Jasper's heart skipped a beat.
“No, don't think like that. Life is long, really long!"
Millie felt like giving up.
Life is long, meaning her embarrassment would last many more years?
She wished she could just disappear.
"If you had to choose, would jumping into the sea or off a cliff be better?"
Jasper's expression grew even more serious!
"Why end your life? Don't you have any memorable moments? Any idols? Think about your idol, doesn't that make you want to keep living?" Millie stared blankly at Jasper.
"No, seeing my idol makes me want to die even more."
If it weren't for her idol, she probably wouldn't have been so eager to end it all!
Jasper felt like his brain was overheating.
"Millie, you need to pull yourself together!"
"I don't want to. I'm so embarrassed!"
Jasper clenched his teeth, "What's there to be embarrassed about? Tell me, and we'll act like it never happened!"
Millie's heart sank.
Her embarrassing moment? That was just her constantly picking fights with her idol.
Was that something she could just say out loud?
Millie, furious, slapped Jasper and stormed off!
Jasper, holding his arm, watched her go, utterly baffled.
What was that about?
Halfway through, Millie came back, sincerely apologizing, "I'm sorry."
"Huh? You don't have to apologize to me."
"I really like Breeze! He's my life goal! So I'm sorry for how I've been treating you... too harsh."
Jasper, finally understanding, smiled in relief.
"Breeze is history, doesn't represent the present or future me. So, you're interacting with Jasper, not Breeze. You don't have to feel bad about how you treat Jasper, it's Breeze you disliked."
Though it was the same person, Jasper's logic made it seem like two.
But it was reassuring.
Millie instantly felt better.
"But you're obviously capable, why act like a fool otherwise?"
Jasper calmly explained, "Breeze
was Breeze, Jasper is Jasper. I have my ow
pace in life. Every day as Breeze, I thought about how dd live
once I became Jasper again."
Those who've lived through darkness yearn for the light even more!
To Jasper, his current life was just fine!
Millie slapped her cheeks, "Mr. Schnabel, there's one more thing."
"Go ahead."
"I kinda like you. Not Breeze, but Jasper. Though I like Breeze too. Would you give me a peck?"
Jasper's expression froze!
This was a first in his life, such an innovative confession!
And what was the connection between the two?
Instantly, Jasper blushed and stood up.
"No way!"
Watching Jasper's retreating figure, Millie whistled at him from the lookout tower.
"Sir, think about it."
Jasper glanced back, noticing Millie in her vibrant red dress, full of life like a flamboyant gypsy woman.
That dash of red seemed particularly dazzling.
Noella glanced at Millie, “Jasper, we're heading off. Aren't you coming?"
“Not just yet, waiting for Millie to fully take over here.”
Noella raised an eyebrow, "Jasper, really not considering Millie? Then why stay?"
Jasper looked seriously at his sister.
His gaze shifted to the woman blending with the sunset's glow.
"Hmm, already considering it."
Imperial City, Serene Haven.
As soon as Xavier stepped into the Schnabel Manor, he dashed upstairs in search of Marcel.
Shortly after, the sound of an argument echoed down from the upper floor.
"Marcel Schnabel, you old scoundrel, you're cheating at the game!"
"It's not my fault you can't keep up. Get lost!"
"I'll show you! I swear, I'll get you for this!"
Turning away from the noise with a light laugh, Sienna asked, "Everything going smoothly? Where's Jasper? Didn't he come back with you?" "He's helping Uncle George wrap up some things. He'll be back soon. Millie's still there. Uncle George will be moving in with us now."
"That's settled then. His room is ready, next to Grandpa's. Grandpa picked it out himself."
It's funny, isn't it? All the bickering and fighting when they were younger, and now, in their old age, they've become each other's family!
Once back in her room and the door was closed, Noella received a message from Interpol.
She skimmed through the message quickly, finally feeling a bit relieved.
"Palmer, they're saying Connor's going to be executed. They'll make it public soon. The Patel family is going to lose it."
Emerging from the bathroom,
Palmer was wrapped in just a towel,
his abs still glistening with droplets
of water, muscles perfectly defined, radiating strength.
"It was expected, but shouldn't Noella be less concerned about those affairs now?"
"Should we maybe... focus on our own matters?"
