Chapter 1366
Nyssa wasn't about to let anyone walk all over her. She snapped back without missing a beat.
"What's got you so on edge? If you haven't been trash-talking the company, why the heck are you interfering with my chat with Ms. Sanchez?" "You-"
"I've had it up to here with two-faced people like you! Cashing checks from Trust-E while badmouthing it behind its back! Always going on about how we'd be nothing without the Lopez Corporation. Give me a break! If you're such a fan, why didn't you apply for a job there
instead of sticking around here?"
Perdita clenched her fists in rage, "That's my choice! Where I apply is none of your business!"
"Oh, please. It's probably because the Lopez Corporation wouldn't even give you the time of day. Who are you trying to fool?"
"Accuse me all you want, I'll tear you a new one!" Unable to win the argument, Perdita lunged at Nyssa, ready to throw down.
Dorothy, seeing the situation escalate, quickly stepped in to separate them.
"Stop it right now! Perdita, assault is illegal!"
Just after she spoke, the company's security rushed over to keep them apart.
Realizing she was cornered, Perdita threw caution to the wind, "So, the big boss believes whatever this loudmouth reports without any proof, and then demotes me? Shows what kind of place Trust-E really is!"
Dorothy wasn't one for confrontations, but she wasn't about to let herself be pushed around either.
"Perdita, as an employee of Trust-E, you need to follow company decisions. If you don't like it, feel free to file a complaint with labor arbitration, but don't you dare resort to violence here!"
"Are you lecturing me?" Perdita rolled her eyes, "So now you think you're the boss? Without Mr. Everett Lopez, you'd be nothing. Weren't you just a minor assistant in the Lopez Corporation before somehow catching Mr. Lopez's eye and-"
She couldn't finish her sentence before Dorothy stepped forward and slapped her across the face!
Perdita was so shocked she couldn't respond.
After a moment, she pointed at Dorothy incredulously, "You hit me? I'm calling the police!"
"Go ahead No one's stopping you," Dorothy replied, her demeanor calm, locking eyes with Perdita, "Just like out in the real world, no one's going to coddle you."
"You! This is abuse of power!"
"Who am I abusing?" Dorothy chuckled, "Ask around. Did anyone see me hit her?"
Nyssa was the first to step up, "Didn't a thing! All I know is.
à tried to hit me, and Msel
Perdien
z stepped in!" Conte
The others quickly agreed, "Yeah, that's what we saw too!"
Fuming, Perdita shot back, "Wow, so eager to step on me to climb higher!"
"That's only because you laid yourself down to be stepped on," Dorothy replied, her voice cold and firm, "You were my assistant once. Let me give you some advice: focus on bettering yourself before criticizing others." Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
For a moment, Dorothy wondered if she'd been too harsh. But seeing Perdita's reaction, she knew it was deserved.
Without another word, Dorothy turned to leave.
Suddenly-
Perdita, like a madwoman, charged at her!
Luckily, Nyssa was quick to react, blocking her, but Dorothy still hit the wall.
It didn't seem serious at first, but then Dorothy felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen...
