Chapter 295
Chapter 295
Rosalie and Lillian followed the assistant into Dominic’s resting place.
Dominic was quite friendly, taking the initiative to pose for photos with them and saying, “If you ever need tickets to movies I’m starring in, feel free to call me. I’ll have them sent over for you.”
She even generously shared her phone number with Lillian.
In Dominic’s eyes, Rosalie had come with Jonathan, and Jonathan had introduced Ms. Leighton as his girlfriend in person. Naturally, he wanted to build a good relationship with her.
After all, in the entertainment industry, the more connections; the better.
And Lillian was Rosalie’s close friend, so Dominic was willing to extend his goodwill.
If Dominic had been willing to share his phone number with Lillian before, Lillian would have been thrilled. However, at that moment, she simply accepted it and politely thanked him.
After receiving Dominic’s autograph and posters, Lillian took the initiative and said to Dominic, “Thank you for today. We’ll head back now.”
Saying this, Lillian tried to lead Rosalie away.
Rosalie, on the other hand, seemed somewhat surprised. She had thought that Lillian might want to stay a bit longer.
Outside-Dominic’s resting place, Rosalie asked, “Why are we leaving so soon? Are you feeling uncomfortable here before your prince?”
“No, it’s not that!” Lillian rolled her eyes, discontent with Rosalie’s banter. “I just had a feeling that I shouldn’t have brought you here today.”
“Because of Loretta?” Rosalie inquired.
“She deliberately did that in front of the fans earlier, clearly trying to defame you. Who knows what they might say about you online later?” Lillian, who often followed celebrity gossip, naturally had such concerns.
“Whatever.” Rosalie shrugged, seemingly unaffected by rumors. She had learned not to care about what others thought. She used to hope that she could maintain a good image in the eyes of others, but later on, she realized that caring too much about others’ opinions only led to her own disadvantage.
If she continued
to
worry about what others thought after her release from prison, she might have hanged herself.
“Let Jonathan help you. If there are any unfavorable rumors online, he can find someone to suppress the news,” Lillian suggested, thinking it shouldn’t be too difficult for Jonathan.
Rosalie patted her friend’s shoulder reassuringly. “I understand. Don’t worry.”
“By the way, what’s your relationship with Calvin?” Lillian suddenly remembered something. “He seemed… quite concerned about you just now, and he directly helped you against Loretta.”
From Lillian’s perspective, it appeared that Calvin was on Rosalie’s side, even though he was Loretta’s boyfriend.
“He just thinks I resemble someone he used to know. Maybe… he lost contact with that person and hasn’t found her, so when he looks at me, it’s like some sort of compensation,” Rosalie explained, deducing this from her previous conversations with
Calvin.
“Sounds like there’s such a theory.” Lillian recalled some online gossip. “I remember reading online rumors that all of Calvin’s girlfriends are just substitutes for that woman he’s been tirelessly ching for.”
While she used to consider these rumors mere internet gossip, it now seemed like they might have some truth to them.
As they were discussing, Callum walked over in their direction.
Lillian immediately felt a bit uneasy and subconsciously moved a step behind Rosalie.
“What’s this? You have the guts to say you’re working overtime today but not the guts to face me?” Callum’s voice carried a
cold tone.
Lillian forced a dry laugh. So obviously, lying was not good. Once you started lying, it was easy to get caught.
Callum then turned his gaze towards Rosalie. “Did you two finish your business? If you’re done, why not join us for a meal?” Rosalie declined, not wanting to be a third wheel. “No, thank you. I have something else to do. You can go have dinner with
Lillian.” This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
“In that case, I’ll give you a ride,” Callum offered.
“No need. I can take the subway in front of the cinema. It’s convenient, and there’s no traffic, Rosalie replied before saying her goodbyes to Lillian.
Once Rosalie had departed, Callum folded his arms, fixing Lillian with a half-smile as he said, “I think you should explain today’s events to me.”
Lillian responded somewhat awkwardly, “Um, I was just tired from working overtime, so I came here with Rosalie to relax.”
“Is that so?” He hmphed, clearly not fully convinced by her explanation.
Switching topics, Lillian inquired, “By the way, why are you here?” And once the question had been asked, she found herself truly curious. He had even been with Calvin just now when they saw him.
He responded with impatience, “What do you think?”
If it weren’t for that woman, he wouldn’t have come here with Calvin, thinking of getting some of Dominic’s posters and autographs through him.
Naturally, not the posters featuring Calvin shirtless.
It turned out that Calvin had some business here, and Dominic was doing a roadshow today, so he decided to come along.
Little did he expect to catch this little trickster in the act.
Seeing the rolls of posters in the trickster’s hands, Callum felt a pang of annoyance.
It appeared that she could have obtained what she wanted without his help. Who knew if there were any of those shirtless posters among them?
Lillian blinked, asking, “You’re not here to help me get Dominic’s autograph and posters, are you?”
She had hit the nail on the head!
However, for some reason, when faced with her perplexed expression, the words of acknowledgment seemed stuck in his throat.
In her mind, she only saw him as someone seeking revenge on her, and she couldn’t believe he would do something nice for her.
“Indeed, I’m not,” Callum’s tone grew colder once again.
“That’s what I thought,” Lillian mused. Yet for some reason, there was a subtle sense of disappointment in her heart. What’s wrong with her? Why should she be disappointed? Callum never liked her being a star chaser in the first place. Did she expect him to join her in chasing stars?
Lillian bit her lip, and at this inopportune moment, her stomach let out a groan.
Callum glanced at her. “Hungry?”
“Yeah…” she admitted sheepishly. Her voice had been strained during the movie roadshow, expending much of her energy in the process.
