Chapter 1184
Chapter 1184
This woman had always been humble for the sake of others. Warren wondered if she had ever truly lived for herself.
However, as he watched her plead humbly, he found no satisfaction in it. Instead, he felt a sense of frustration and pain.
“The baby in your womb is not just your child; it’s also my child. Naturally, I’ll protect the child!” Warren’s voice held a deep resolve.
“Mr. York, we just ran a red light, and now there are policemen behind us,” Frederick reported.
“Keep driving!” Warren said.
“Yes, sir!”
Amelia suddenly felt a touch on the back of her hand.
She was momentarily stunned before realizing that it was Warren’s hand.
His hand was gently holding hers at that moment. “The baby will be all right. I promise,” he reassured her.
Amelia gazed at Warren in a daze. She understood that nothing in this world was certain, but at that moment, his words inexplicably filled her with a sense of relief, as though their children could indeed be safe and sound.
When the car came to a halt at the hospital’s entrance, Warren lifted Amelia and carried her out of the car. Simultaneously, he instructed Frederick to handle the police. Then, with Amelia in his arms,
he hurried to the emergency room.
After a while, the medical team urgently assessed Amelia’s condition and inquired about her pregnancy history.
Just as Amelia was about to describe her pregnancy test situation while bearing with the pain, Warren, who had followed her into the emergency room, beat her to it.
He provided a detailed explanation, including the number of weeks she had been pregnant, any relevant medical history, and the result of her most recent pregnancy test, among other details.
Amelia was taken aback. She hadn’t anticipated that Warren would

remember all of these details so vividly, including her most recent
pregnancy test result, which had only been obtained after their separation. He seemed to know everything.
“Did he always know about my pregnancy test results?” she wondered.
“Who are you?” the doctor asked. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
“I’m the patient’s husband,” Warren stated naturally, as if it had always been the case.
The doctor arranged for Amelia to receive oxygen and then scheduled a
B-scan.
As Amelia was wheeled into the B-scan room, she overheard the nurse saying, “Your husband is truly caring. He even remembers all your pregnancy test results. There are few husbands like him these days. Many of them don’t even know how many weeks their wives are pregnant! Your husband must truly love you! With loving parents like you guys, your child will be fine.”
Amelia mused, ‘Is that so? I really hope the nurse’s right.
And Warren… Yes, he used to love me very much. But now, I don’t think
he loves me anymore.’
Following a comprehensive examination, the doctor instructed Amelia to inhale oxygen for half an hour. Simultaneously, she received two more injections. Eventually, Amelia felt the fetal movement in her stomach subside, and her abdominal pain lessened.
Upon learning that the child’s condition had stabilized and there was no immediate danger, she finally relaxed.
“But what exactly is going on? Why is this happening?” Amelia asked.
“It’s likely related to your prior liver transplantation. Pregnancy places a significant strain on your current liver, and I believe your attending physician has also mentioned this. As your pregnancy progresses, such pain is likely to increase,” the doctor explained.
The doctor’s words made Amelia’s heart sink.
She had indeed been cautioned by her attending physician at Women’s Health Hospital that her body could only endure the pregnancy for up to seven months at most.

Seven months ago, the doctor had conservatively mentioned that if things were proceeding well, there shouldn’t be a major issue.
However, the current situation was evidently not very promising, as she was already experiencing such pain at just five months into the
pregnancy.
She wondered how many more episodes she would have to endure. Each episode posed a danger to the baby growing inside her.
Warren’s face darkened, too, as he listened to the doctor.
After the doctor and nurse left the ward, Warren gazed at Amelia, who lay weakly on the hospital bed. “Do you still want to give birth to this child under these circumstances?”
“Yes.” Amelia gently nodded.
“Why do you insist on giving birth? Haven’t you always despised me? Why would you want to bring a child with my blood into the world?” he questioned.
After a moment of silence, she murmured, “I… gave birth to Aiden back then, too.”
His expression shifted briefly, and then he let out a self-deprecating laugh. “Yeah, you gave birth to Aiden as well. No matter how much you may hate me or despise me, you can’t simply give up on a life, can you?”
Amelia’s breathing faltered for a moment. She had chosen to give the baby because it was a vibrant life, but deep down, she still harl feelings for him.
Those feelings were buried deep within her.
However, since he no longer had feelings for her, there wasn’t a need her to bring that up.
Perhaps it was better to let him think that way.
Warren looked at Amelia for a moment before saying, “You can rest for now. I’ll take care of the hospital admission procedures for you.”
As he exited the ward, the ensuing silence in the room brought a bitter smile to Amelia’s lips.
“Maybe forgetting is the best outcome. That way, even if something did happen to me, you’d still be able to live your life…” she whispered softly,

The fate of both her and the baby in her womb was uncertain. Their lives might be fleeting.
At the very least, Warren, who had erased that connection from his memory, wouldn’t risk his life for her and the child.
This was her decision, and she had no regrets about it.
At that moment, Amelia’s phone on the bedside table began to ring. It was Lucas calling.
As soon as she picked up the phone, Amelia heard Lucas’ anxious voice from the other end. “Amelia! Is this Amelia?”
“Yes, it’s me, Lucas,” Amelia replied.
“How are you? Are you okay?”
“I’m okay. I’m feeling much better now, but I have to stay in the hospital for a few days for observation,” Amelia replied. “I’m sorry, Lucas, for dragging you into this.”
“What are you saying? I’m the one who should apologize for the misunderstanding between you and your husband. Should I… explain things to Mr. York again?” Lucas suggested.
“No, I’ll talk to him myself,” Amelia decided. She was worried that if Lucas tried to explain, it might make things more complicated. “Lucas, you didn’t miss your train, did you?”
“I didn’t catch the train,” Lucas replied. “But since you’re doing fine, I’ll just buy another ticket for the next train.”
