Chapter 213
Chapter 213
He didn’t do anything other than sleep with his fiancée in his arms.
In the ward, Marie obediently took her medicine. Looking at Gavin’s darkened expression, she asked
cautiously, “Gavin, are you angry again?”
Gavin roared, “How dare you ask me that! Both of you are pissing me off! I’m so angry that my head
hurts!”
“Please don’t be angry. I’ll sleep alone tonight,” Marie replied.
Hearing that, Gavin bellowed, “Do you even get the main point? I’ve had enough of your public display
of affection! I’m so done!”
Marie cowered. “It’s over now.”
As Marie sat down obediently, Gavin suddenly asked, “Marie, do you know that Dennis hasn’t seen
Clayton for three days?”
Stunned, Marie lowered her head and said, “I don’t know.”
Gavin sighed and added, “It’s true that Clayton was reckless this time, but Dennis saved his life. They
are best friends who have a bond that goes beyond ordinary friendships. I hope you won’t hold any
grudges against him.”
Hearing that, Marie nodded and didn’t say anything. Gavin knew that if he continued to say anything,
he would make her even more sad. After all, when she was risking her life for Dennis, Clayton was still
thinking about how to finish her off.
Then, Gavin walked out of the ward, and Marie looked up at the sky outside the window. It was a sunny
day, and she decided to go out for a walk.
Although Marie wanted to change her clothes, all she had were the vest and pants she took off, which
had been washed and returned to her. After changing, Marie picked a coat from the base and wore it
over her outfit. Finally, she put on ankle boots and walked out.
She hadn’t properly enjoyed the sunshine for many days, so she leisurely strolled until she reached the
shooting range. Several new recruits were practicing shooting, and Marie stood on the side, watching
with great interest.
The new recruits noticed Marie. In fact, it was hard not to notice her. The girl was dressed simply in
black pants and an oversized coat that appeared to belong to someone else. The loose fit of the coat
accentuated her petite and delicate figure. She was bare-faced. With her hair draping down her back,
she looked beautiful and somewhat alluring.
Seeing that the new recruits were absent-minded, the instructor looked aside and shouted at Marie,
“This is the shooting range! No outsiders allowed!”
With a smile, Marie walked over and asked, “Can I practice with them?”
The instructor looked at her small figure and said, “The gun at the base has been modified. You won’t
be to handle them.”

Hearing that, Marie tilted her head to look at the guns in their hands and said, “I haven’t even tried.
How can you be so sure that I can’t handle them? Let me give it a try. I’m a sharpshooter, you know!”
When the trainer heard that, he became interested and shouted at the group of new recruits, “Hey! This
girl
said she is a sharpshooter and wants to compete with you all!”
The new recruits waved their hands and yelled, “Bring it on!”
Marie walked over and took hold of a gun. She aimed at the target, took a moment to align her sights,
and
fired a shot that hit the fourth ring. The result was rather disappointing and far from impressive.
The new recruits and the instructor all laughed. “Is this what you call a sharpshooter? We can shoot
better
than her!”
Marie didn’t get upset either. She had been injured, and the modified gun was unfamiliar to her. It was
just a
matter of not adapting immediately.
She adjusted herself, aimed at the target once again, and fired a shot that hit the ninth ring.
The new recruits looked stunned for a moment and shouted, “It must be luck! It’s just luck!”
Another shot rang out, hitting the tenth ring.
Before the new recruits could react, three consecutive shots were fired, all hitting the tenth ring.
Marie dropped the pistol and smiled triumphantly, saying, “Is this still luck? I’ve told you, I’m a
sharpshooter!”
The new recruits and the instructor looked at Marie as if they had seen an alien. They gathered around
her, observing closely. The girl appeared delicate and fragile, but they were astonished to discover just
how
skilled she truly was.
Marie was not reserved either. She engaged in conversation with everyone, quickly forming a bond with
them.
She even took the time to teach them how to handle a gun, how to maintain stability, and how to aim
properly.
When Clayton arrived at the shooting range, he noticed that it was much livelier than usual. He
furrowed his brows and looked at the commotion inside, asking, “What’s going on over there?”
One of his subordinates hurriedly went to investigate and returned, saying, “Ms. Spence is over there. I
heard
everyone saying something about her being a sharpshooter.”
Clayton frowned. Why is Marie here at the shooting range instead of resting?
Clayton walked over and saw Marie surrounded by people. Some were asking her about aiming
techniques; others were curious where she had trained to become so skilled. There were even those
who asked if she was
a mercenary.
At times, Marie obediently answered their questions, and at other times, she playfully bantered with
them, as if she had instantly become acquainted with everyone.
Upon seeing Clayton approaching, everyone immediately fell silent and returned to their respective
positions, focusing on studying firearms and shooting with utmost seriousness. No one dared to make
a fuss

Clayton approached and looked at Marie, asking, “What are you doing here?”
Marie smiled and replied, “The weather is nice; I’m just taking a walk.”
“So you came to the shooting range for that? A sharpshooter?” Clayton asked, This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
With a smile, Marie looked straight into Clayton’s eyes and replied, “Yes, I am the renowned Rose, Is it
so
strange that I’m a sharpshooter?”
When Clayton heard that, he was taken aback. He had assumed that with the protection of Dennis,
Marie
would stay quietly with him, and no one would dare question her identity. He never expected that she
would
directly confront him and not feel the need to explain anything.
Surprisingly, Marie ran up to Clayton and openly admitted that she was Rose.
Looking at Clayton, Marie said, “I’ve heard that the person in charge of King Organization is very
skilled. How
about we have a shooting competition? Best of five rounds.”
Without realizing it, Clayton nodded and agreed, “Sure.”
His subordinate brought two guns for them, and everyone gathered around to watch the competition
between
their revered boss and Marie, who had just showcased her sharpshooting skills. They were all curious
about
who would emerge victorious.
Clayton and Marie took their positions, lifted their guns, aimed, and simultaneously fired their shots.
All five shots by Clayton hit the tenth ring.
The new recruits cheered as if they themselves had achieved victory. In their hearts, Clayton was the
unbeatable alpha wolf, and no one would question his decisions and abilities.
After tallying Marie’s score, everyone was stunned. Just like Clayton, all her shots hit the tenth ring as
well. She had managed to tie with Clayton in the competition.
Marie smiled and said, “Thank you for the lesson!”
Clayton looked at Marie and said, “You’re too modest.”
After Marie returned the gun to the new recruit, she walked over to Clayton’s side. She gazed at the
distant target and said, “Back at Witton Manor, the weapon I held wasn’t just a pistol. It was a genuine
Barrett sniper
rifle. If I wanted to, I could have taken down Dennis.
Clayton listened quietly without saying a word. Seeing that, Marie smiled and continued, “You can
certainly think that I have ulterior motives for staying by Dennis’ side, but let’s not forget that you have
made things
difficult for me multiple times. Back then, I could have easily put a bullet through your head.”
Clayton turned his head to look at her, his eyes filled with anger. He appeared to be very upset by
Marie’s
arrogant words.
Marie locked eyes with him and said, “But I didn’t, Clayton. I have never had any Intention to harm
anyone. This time, I could have stayed silent and hidden behind Dennis, but you have been

other, and that’s it. I have taken lives in the past, but I will never aim my gun at Dennis or his friends/

told me that you and Dennis are best friends.”
Looking into her crystal clear eyes, Clayton remained silent for a long time. Eventually, he nodded
quietly and
said, “Yes, Dennis saved my life, and I have no way to repay him. If anything were to happen to him, it
would be my fault.”
With a smile, Marie said, “That’s great. Dennis is blessed to have a best friend like you.”
Clayton shook his head. “No, it’s my fortune. And his fortune lies in having you.”
Marie was about to respond when she noticed Dennis walking toward them, supported by Cullen. The
girl’s once imposing and majestic figure appeared to have weakened on several levels.
The next instant, Dennis walked right past Clayton, whose gaze darkened. Clayton remained silent,
knowing it was his fault. It was understandable for Dennis to be upset.
Suddenly, he remembered that Marie had also saved his life. Dennis and he reconciled after Dennis
punched him the last time. This time, however, he had visited the clinic three times, but Dennis had
never agreed to meet him even once. Dennis was genuinely angry that Clayton had treated his fiancée
like a criminal and had locked her up for interrogation.
