"Summer, are you asleep?" the man's gentle voice came through.

"Not yet, are you done with work?"

"Today's not busy, just finished defending a case."

"How'd it go?"

"I definitely won. You should know what field I'm in."

"Summer, I heard you've taken on a leading role. I'm really happy for you."

"When are you coming back?" the girl asked with a hint of longing.

The night grew deeper.
