Chapter 185

After reaching the location, Daniel looked at Genevieve, who was well–dressed. Feeling his heart skip a beat while sensing something bad, he bit the bullet and got out of his car.

Genevieve’s face was terribly gloomy, and she stood motionless with her arms folded, looking at Daniel with a

half–smile.

She had thought countless times about leaving just now but suppressed the urge, wanting to see how long Anthony could remain putting on airs.

Every minute she waited, her smile became colder, and her eyes were filled with iciness once Daniel arrived.

Daniel approached cautiously and anxiously said, “Ms. Lawrence, Mr. Hoffman had a sudden headache and went to the hospital. I’m afraid he can’t come.”

He knew Anthony had brought forward all his social engagements for the sake of the date today and meticulously selected a private kitchen with hot springs and entertainers for the dating location.

After finally having leisure time, Anthony unexpectedly fell ill, which sounded ridiculous. Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.

Daniel saw Genevieve sneering and felt his heart sink, knowing she didn’t believe it.

He hurriedly added, “It’s true. Mr. Hoffman’s still in the hospital now. You can go see him if you don’t believe me.“”

He thought Anthony would be happy to see Genevieve visiting him.

Unfortunately, Genevieve was not someone to be easily pushed around. She remained standing still instead. Despite the cold weather, she appeared proud and exquisite, as if she didn’t care about the temperature, showing her calmness and easiness.

Looking impatiently indifferent, she smirked. “Is that so? Has he died?” she asked.

Daniel became speechless, swallowing the answer that Anthony hadn’t died yet.

Genevieve chuckled and said, “What a pity. If he’s dead, I’ll surely provide a gift.”

Her lazy–and–hoarse–sounding reply was cold, and Daniel couldn’t help shivering at it. He wanted to explain more, but Genevieve didn’t want to hear Anthony’s name mentioned anymore as she turned around and left, unwilling to stay longer.

Daniel sighed, feeling the onset of a headache. He thought that Anthony’s happiness for the past few days was in

Daniel paused and replied calmly, “Ms. Lawrence is avoiding Mr. Hoffman.”

He was telling the truth, and after looking at Genevieve’s attitude today, he could tell that Anthony would have a rough time next time.

Quincey sighed in relief but felt unwilling about it. She demanded, “Why would she need to hide? Does she think we’ll eagerly flatter her because she is the daughter of the Lawrence family?”

She thought indignantly that she wouldn’t agree easily if Genevieve wanted to join the Hoffman family again.

Presley coughed and stared at Quincey coldly with disdain. “Shut your mouth. If we have Genevieve as our daughter–in–law, you should feel happy about it. You’ve brought things to such a state. You still think it’s not messed up enough?” he demanded.

He also regretted it and thought selfishly, ‘If only Genevieve was still our daughter–in–law. Who wouldn’t want a share of Lawrence Group’s power?”

With her face turning pale, Quincey felt too angry to say anything and clutched her chest, gasping heavily.

She thought all her actions had received Presley’s tacit consent and connivance, so she felt it was unfair that she was taking the blame alone.

The next day, when Anthony opened his eyes, he frowned and thought of his state before fainting yesterday. Although the empty ward looked luxurious, it felt empty and suffocating.

As soon as Anthony woke up, Daniel immediately knew and entered the ward with a gloomy expression before calling the doctors. He had sent Presley and Quincey away last night, but he didn’t dare to leave and waited in the hospital all night instead.

-Anthony had returned to his senses, with his aura mighty and unfathomable.

After the doctors finished the examination, Anthony asked slowly, “Why did I suddenly have a headache? There’s no blood clot in my head, so why do I have amnesia?”

The doctors felt nervous immediately, but the leading doctor calmed down and replied, “Mr. Hoffman, you were in a coma due to a serious injury. Although your head has recovered well, further observation is still needed. The medicine you’re taking is a newly developed imported

medicine, which has a miraculous effect on coma and also causes certain stimulation to the brain. If you’re too tired or forget to take it, there will be a chain reaction…”

Anthony stared at the doctor and seemed to listen attentively. However, he also looked like he didn’t hear a single word.

His gaze was all he needed to make the doctors feel nervous and uneasy.

Finally, the ward turned silent. Anthony pulled out the needles on him, revealing his visible blood vessels and strong forearms, making his demeanor look oppressive.

Daniel, waiting outside with Anthony’s clothes, immediately approached Anthony after seeing the latter’s actions. “Mr. Hoffman, do you want to return and rest today?” he asked.

Anthony glanced at the doctors and replied gently, “Thank you for your hard work. I’ll leave now.”

The leading doctor sighed in relief and immediately escorted him to the door, saying, “Mr. Hoffman, remember to take the medicine, and you won’t have any headaches again.”

Anthony furrowed his eyebrows emotionlessly and nodded slightly. He left with Daniel afterward.

He tried not taking the medicine, which resulted in countless unfamiliar scenes showing in his dreams that felt familiar, but he would experience faint headaches.

However, once he took the medicine, he would sleep peacefully all night and couldn’t remember those scenes at all. It was as if someone had deliberately cleared his memory.

After leaving the hospital, Anthony stood before a black Bentley and asked coldly, “Where’s Genevieve? Why

didn’t she come?”
