Chapter 1191 The Enemy of My Enemy
Chapter 1191 The Enemy of My Enemy
The icy chill and lethal intent radiating from Julien's eyes sent a shiver down Dallin's spine. It was clear to him that Julien's threats were far from empty.
Julien meant business.
If he ever discovered that Dallin had lied to him, he wouldn't hesitate to take Dallin's life.
Dallin was fearless in his youth.
But as he aged and witnessed the mortality of those around him, his courage faded, replaced by a growing dread of death.
With each passing year, his fear of death intensified.
His elevated status only amplified this fear.
Death would mean losing everything. He could no longer enjoy the benefits of his status as the head of the Sullivan family and his wealth. They would inevitably end up in the hands of his relatives.
He couldn't bear the thought of such an outcome. He yearned to remain the head of the Sullivan family and to wield their wealth and influence until his dying day.
He would not allow himself to die early.
To quell his mounting fear, Dallin averted his gaze from Julien's murderous stare.
"Julien, you have my word. I've assured you time and again that I have no intention of deceiving you. You can trust me with the letter of understanding, and I promise to deliver the heirloom to you."
Pursing his lips into a thin line, Julien remained silent for a moment before finally speaking. "By five o'clock this afternoon, I will send someone over. After Greta is released, you'd better keep her in check. If she dares to lay a finger on my woman again, it won't be this simple."
"I will restrain her," Dallin replied, forcing a smile at Julien.
Having achieved his objective, Julien saw no reason to linger. He slipped his hands into his pockets and made his exit.
Zach followed him out.
They had barely taken a few steps when Dallin's voice echoed from behind them.
"Julien, I've kept the assault on me under wraps. The outside world remains unknown to my situation. If you were able to uncover it so swiftly, it means that you've been spying on me," Dallin stated with a gloomy voice.
Julien halted in his tracks, prompting his assistant to do the same.
"So what? Are you trying to hold me accountable?" Julien snorted without looking back.
A flicker of resentment flashed in Dallin's eyes, but it vanished almost instantly. "Of course not, Julien. You must be joking. In Port City, who would dare to cross you directly? That would be a death wish. I merely wanted to inquire if your informants, who have been keeping tabs on me, managed to identify those who assaulted me."
"Oh?" Julien raised an eyebrow and turned to face Dallin with a smirk. "So, you're hoping to extract the identities of your assailants from me?" Dallin's fists tightened beneath the blanket. "Yes."
"You found the wrong person," Julien sneered. "What ties do you and I share? You won't get any information from me, so don't bother. On the contrary, I'll aid those people in covering their tracks. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. So, why don't you just give up?"
With that, he turned around and left the ward.
Dallin's face flushed and his chest heaved with anger.
Yet, despite his feeble appearance, a scourge existed enough to cause others trouble.
"Boss." Neil entered, nursing his swollen forehead.
He addressed Dallin, closed the door behind him, and made his way to Dallin's bedside.
Dallin shut his eyes to quell his rage and regain composure. "How is the investigation going?"
Neil hung his head in shame. "Boss, I
regret to inform you that we've yet to identify the culprits. The incident took place in an old alley without surveillance cameras. And I wasn't there to witness it, so it's difficult to track them down."

Dallin knew Neil was telling the truth. Despite his reluctance to accept such an outcome, he had to face the music.
He took a deep breath to keep his temper in check and waved Neil off. "Continue the investigation."
"Yes, sir." Neil was relieved that his boss didn't hit the roof.
He no longer had to worry that he would be implicated.
"Prepare to go to the police station and negotiate with them. Tell them that Julien is considering reconciliation. Submit the bail application. Once Julien's letter of forgiveness arrives, deliver it to the potice station immediately, Dallin instructed.
Neil bowed in acknowledgment. "Consider it done."
Dallin stopped talking, reclining and closing his eyes.
Neil trod lightly, leaving Dallin to rest.
Julien and Zach got into the car.
Julien kneaded his temples, asking, "Have you found out about the relationship between Greta and Dallin?"
Neil started the car, replying, "GivenNôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
that Dallin has remained in his hotel
room, our people haven't been able to access his room or obtain his DNA. As such, their relationship remains a mystery. However, after Dallin was hospitalized, the hospital staff shaved his head to treat his wound. Our people managed to collect some blood-stained hair from the trash can. It's been sent to the forensic department, and we should have an answer soon."
Delighted by the good news, Julien relaxed and nodded. "Let's head back to the company."
"Understood," Zach affirmed.
At Skylight Corporation, Sydney finished dealing with an urgent document. She leaned back in her chair and stretched herself to ease the ache.
She curled up, planning to take a rest before going on with the rest of the files.
"Ms. Raines." A knock echoed through the office, followed by a crisp female voice.
Sydney looked up to find her secretary, Gianna, standing at the entrance.
Gianna was temporarily filling in during Sean's vacation and recovery period.
"Come in." Sydney smiled and straightened up.
She was mindful of maintaining a professional demeanor, not wanting her subordinates to perceive her as lacking basic etiquette.
"Okay," Gianna responded, releasing the door handle and stepping inside. She stopped in front of Sydney's desk. "Ms. Raines, I came at your request to get the document."
"Ah, it's right here." Sydney pointed to a document on the desk. "This is urgent. Take it to them right away."
