At the hospital, Millie had just arrived at the consultation room when she heard Hazel’s frantic voice.

“Is Dr. Quinn here? Dr. Caldwell, have you seen Dr. Quinn?”

Hazel was clearly in distress. Millie, looking baffled, asked, “Is something wrong?”

“A patient has developed sudden symptoms, and Dr. Xander can’t identify what’s wrong,” Hazel replied frantically.

With a frown, Millie put on her white coat and urged, “Take me there.”

“What?” Hazel looked at Millie in surprise.

“Let’s go.” Millie pulled Hazel’s arm. She decided to check on the patient herself.

Since Hazel couldn’t find Lainey, she had no choice but to lead Millie to the ward.

Millie saw the patient’s family crowding the door when she arrived at the ward. She glanced outside and instructed, “Have them clear out. Why are they all blocking the entrance?”

Upon seeing Millie, Vanessa explained, “The patient just underwent surgery. All the indicators were normal yesterday, but now she suddenly went into cardiac arrest.”

Millie hummed in acknowledgment and began examining the patient.

Vannesa stepped back, looked at Millie, and then at Hazel. “Where’s Dr. Quinn?”

“I don’t know.” Hazel shook her head and whispered, “Let Dr. Caldwell take a look first.” C0ntent © 2024 (N/ô)velDrama.Org.

Vanessa’s lips parted slightly. She had wanted to ask what Millie could do.

Soon, the patient’s family returned to the ward. When he saw Millie attending to the patient, he immediately demanded, “Who is this? Where’s Dr. Quinn? Wasn’t Dr. Quinn supposed to be in charge?

“My wife was perfectly fine yesterday. How could things have taken such a turn? If anything happens to her, you’ll be held responsible! Do you understand?”

In his anger, Felix Moore even shoved Millie. Yet she remained calm and composed.

“Hazel, have him escorted out,” Millie ordered.

Felix was momentarily stunned. “You want me to leave? Who are you? What kind of doctor are you? With the recent scandal about doctors with fake medical degrees at this hospital, how can I trust you? You’re not allowed to touch my wife! I want Dr. Quinn!”

He pushed Millle aside, refusing to let her come any closer.

Millie sized him up, and a hint of annoyance flashed across her eyes. Without saying a word, she turned to look at Hazel, who immediately understood.

Hazel quickly stepped forward to calm Felix, then escorted him out. As they left, he continued to curse, You’re useless! If anything happens to my wife, I’ll make sure you incompetent doctors face the consequences!”

Millie was rendered speechless. The words “incompetent doctors” didn’t sit well with her.

Vanessa, too, was upset by the insult. After years of medical training and saving countless lives, it stung to be called “incompetent doctors“.

“Dr. Caldwell…” Vanessa hesitantly called out.

Millie lifted her head. “Yes?”

“You…” Vanessa pressed her lips together. She wasn’t questioning Millie’s capabilities but was concerned about whether she could handle the situation.

After all, this was Lainey’s patient. If something went wrong, she wouldn’t let Millie off the hook. It seemed like Millie was overstepping her role.

“Dr. Xander, you should leave as well,” Millie said calmly.

Vanessa was taken aback. What? Did Millie really ask her to leave?

“Wait, Dr. Caldwell. This isn’t a joke!” Vanessa told her

Millie answered, “I know. Don’t worry. She’s going to be fine.”

Her calm demeanor caught Vanessa off guard. After all, she had just spent a long time trying to figure out the problem without success. Yet, now, Millie was saying the patient would be fine.

Vanessa couldn’t help but wonder how she could be so confident.

“Dr. Xander, I’m not incompetent. I do know a thing or two. Although I might not match up to you and Dr. Quinn, I won’t kill the patient. Don’t worry!”

Millie patted Vanessa’s shoulder as she spoke, signaling her to step outside. She didn’t want Vanessa to know her true capabilities.
