Simon handed Millie the menu and chatted with the waiter. “How romantic! The couple has great taste in the venue.”

“Right? Did you know that the girlfriend would propose to the boyfriend?” The waitress shared the gossip with Simon with a straight face.

Simon gasped, “Is the woman proposing? That’s really brave of her!”

Millie looked up at the waitress when she overheard the detail.

Ah, a woman proposing to her boyfriend, which wasn’t a big deal in the modern era where women bravely went after the loves of their lives.

In the modern dating landscape, couples navigated relationships with open minds. If the relationship worked out, that was for the best. If not, there was no point sighing and obsessing over it.

After Millie put in her order, it was Simon’s turn. He returned the menu to the waitress. “I’ll get the same dish.”

Then, he added softly, “Thanks.”

All the while, Millie observed Simon keenly. He was nice to everyone, including the staff who waited on him.

She lowered her head and took out her phone. Out of boredom, she snapped a photo and made an Instagram post from her handle, @millscaldwell. “Movies and dinner. I feel alive again.”

She received comments right after she posted the photo. She read through a few comments that unanimously advised her to live her life to the fullest and stay away from men.

She tapped like on the comments to indicate that she had read them.

Soon, the waitress served their dishes. While cutting the steak, Millie overheard some wait staff asking, ‘ Are they here?”

“Got it. We’ll get prepared.”

The restaurant was packed that day. All the patrons looked forward to the proposal when they learned

about it.

Millie had the perfect view from her seat. Rose petals were scattered on the path leading into the

restaurant. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.

Just when she was ready to witness the memorable occasion, she spotted two familiar figures wandering into the restaurant. She paused. Her hand slipped, and she accidentally sliced the tablecloth instead of the steak.

Simon was taken aback as well, He swore he had no idea that Joanna and Winston were hosting the proposal at that same restaurant.

Joanna stood behind Winston, covering his eyes with both hands. She slowly led him into the restaurant. Clad in a suit, Winston cooperatively moved forward.

“Tadaa!” Joanna finally removed her hands.

Owned and instinctively shut his eyes because he was blinded by a screen that lit him. It took him a while to adjust to the brightness before opening his eyes.

The screen played a self–recorded video by Joanna. Holding a camera, she waved into it. “Hi, dear Win! This is your Jo.

“I don’t know how many days it’s been since we first met. Thinking back, I was always by your side as a friend. You doted on me and showered me with love. You offered me everything, which I am immensely grateful for. Now, I will go through the old photos I took of you!”

The screen played a slideshow of the photos Joanna had taken of Winston over the years–photos from high school and college. In one photo, Winston stared into the camera at a press conference after taking over Greer Group.

He took over the company before graduation. Millie was at the press conference as his fiancée, while his first love, Joanna, sat among the audience in front of the stage.

The longer Millie stared at the vlogs on the screen, the more she felt like the one who had gotten between Winston and Joanna. They would have made a great couple if she hadn’t intruded.

Clutching her fork and knife, she silently ate the steak. Simon suggested with a frown, “Let’s switch to a different restaurant.”

“It’s fine.” She shook her head.
