The identity of the whistleblower was the biggest problem now. The scandal threatened to ruin Joanna’s
career.
“Who else other than you could have done it?” Harriet’s face reddened in anger. As a mother, she felt horrible to see her daughter’s career derailed. She was riddled with guilt for failing to protect Joanna. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.
“Who knows if it was your daughter’s slip of the tongue when she got drunk? Anyway…” Millie approached Sebastian and glanced at the anonymous letter. “Dr. Lloyd, I’m just here to clarify that I didn’t write that letter.”
She added confidently, “I will cooperate if you launch an investigation.” After all, truth would prevail.
Despite her hatred of Joanna, she had never considered hurting the latter, but not because she was weak.
She could be a force to be reckoned with, but she chose to tolerate Joanna for one reason– Winston
loved Joanna.
However, she wouldn’t accept the Lowells‘ unfair accusation.
“Alright, Millie. I got it,” Sebastian replied with a serious expression.
Still dissatisfied, Harriet snapped, “Dr. Lloyd, is my daughter suspended from work? If so, I demand Millie Caldwell be suspended too.”
Millie shot a look at Harriet and warned her, “Mrs. Lowell, do not try me.”
Just as Joanna had the backing of the Lowells, she also had the Caldwells‘ support. There was no guarantee that the Lowells could get out of this unhurt.
Millie needs to be suspended! If she’s responsible, it only shows that she lacks moral character!” Harriet spiraled into madness.
Millie remained silent. She wondered who exactly lacked morals in this situation.
“Mrs. Lowell, the hospital will make our decision on this matter. Please leave if you don’t have anything else,” Sebastian reminded Harriet.
Millie swept her gaze past Harriet before leaving the room. Harriet quickly hurried after her, while Ethan insisted on arguing with Sebastian.
Logan worried that Harriet might stir up trouble after noticing that she went after Millie. Hence, he had no choice but to follow suit.
As expected, Harriet stopped Millie from leaving.
“Millie Caldwell!” she bellowed haughtily as though Millie had been proven guilty.
“Please. Millie showed Harriet respect, but it was too bad Harriet didn’t reciprocate the gesture.
“Was it your doing? If you admit to it now, our family will let this slide,” Harriet doubted Millie’s innocence.
Millie, who nearly ran out of patience, took a jab at Harriet. “Mrs. Lowell, I recommend that you get your brains checked.”
Didn’t she clearly announce that she had nothing to do with Joanna’s incident?
Besides, why would she stay around if she were the whistleblower? She wouldn’t want to be confronted by the lowells.
“Are you taunting me?” Harriet glared at Millie in disbelief.
“Don’t you think you deserve it?” Millie had no patience for unreasonable individuals.
Harriet’s expression hardened. Huffing and puffing, she placed a hand against her chest. She couldn’t believe that Millie had spoken to her in that tone! She had crossed a line!
“Millie Caldwell, show some respect,” she warned through gritted teeth.
“Respect is earned, not given. You don’t deserve my respect,” Millie jeered.
“Millie, that’s enough!” Logan joined Harriet in condemning Millie.
She stared at the two of them. “Oh, is the Lowell family ganging up against me? Are you bullying me because my family isn’t here to back me up?”
Harriet curled her fist while glaring at Millie. She grabbed Millie’s arm and raised her hand to slap Millie when the latter tried to leave.
