Chapter 158

Millie’s lashes trembled. She was overcome with emotions.

Staring at her, Winston chided her in a guttural voice, “Don’t ever say that out of spite. Did you think I’d believe in that?”

“I don’t care if you believe it or not. I’m speaking the truth,” she replied, sighing.

Then, she said in an airy tone, “Uncle Thomas gets along well with people; a little too well, in fact. Just ignore him if he asks you for a favor. He won’t be mad at you. I’ll update him about our relationship later.”

Winston frowned while Millie addressed him expressionlessly. He was incredibly irritated by the situation.

She didn’t appear to be joking. She had changed for good, and she was no longer his.

He had once warned her not to trouble him. Now, he might get what he wished for.

She checked the time and turned to him. “It’s getting late. You should head home

now.

“Millie…” Winston called out to her faintly.

She gazed at him and said tenderly, “Please stay out of my business, just like how I stay out of yours and Joanna’s.”

Pursing her lips, Millie trembled and said in all seriousness, “Winston, let’s stay out of each other’s lives.” NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

The past years were a dream she had to wake up from. She had no regrets as she had given her best.

But Winston…

She studied the face of the man she had loved for years. She wondered if he would regret losing her and if there would be a moment when he felt he should have cherished her more.

Millie spun on her heels, ready to leave, but Winston took her arm and pulled her over to the wall. She strumbled backward, her back pressed against it.

Before she knew it, he inched closer, his scent tickling her senses.

He lowered his gaze and moved closer. She noticed a longing and reluctance in his

expression, which might or might not be the result of tipsiness.

Did she misread him? Had he fallen for her, even if just for a moment?

She dared not overthink for fear of disappointment. The last thing she wanted was to be troubled by love and relationships.

It was time she took charge of her own life, free from the drama of romantic relationships.

Life had so much more to offer. She believed she had yet to meet many amazing people, and exciting adventures awaited her.

She might not feel like dating right away, but she knew a better man would be waiting for her in the future–a man who only had eyes for her.

He might be Simon or someone else, but definitely not Winston. Winston had hurt her far too many times.

Millie removed his hand. He whispered in her ear, “How could you deny falling in love with another man? That must be the reason you’re so eager to leave me.”

She thought his accusatory tone was rather absurd. “How is that any of your business?” she retorted.

“Then, whose business could it be?”

“I’ve said this countless times. We are divorced! Winston Greer, know your place. You’re nothing more than an ex–husband,” she hurled harsh remarks at him.
