Chapter 120

As soon as the elevator doors opened, Millie walked out.

Watching her defiant figure, Winston felt a pang in his heart. It was as if a thorn had pricked it.

Millie stopped at the entrance of the inpatient department. She then turned to face Winston, her hands properly placed in front of her.

“Mr. Greer, this is as far as I’ll go. I’m sorry for occupying your morning,” she said gently.

Winston hummed in response while his gaze lingered on her. He wanted to tell Millie that she could call him if she needed anything.

However, before he could speak, someone called out, “Mills.”

The voice sounded familiar.

Winston and Millie turned at the same time and saw Simon approaching with a bouquet and gifts.

“Mr. Greer, you’re here too,” Simon said as a hint of surprise flickered in his eyes.

Winston glanced at Simon coldly. With an icy tone, he countered, “Is that so surprising?”

He and Simon were currently competing for the same land. Naturally, this made them rivals.

Simon chuckled and replied, “This is indeed a surprise. I thought you only cared about Ms. Lowell and didn’t concern yourself with your ex–wife’s family matters.”

Millie couldn’t help but take a quick look at him.

Winston frowned. He sensed the hostility in Simon’s tone and wondered if he had developed a penchant for picking fights. Lately, Simon had been particularly rude whenever they spoke.

“Mr. Harrison, know your place, and don’t lecture me here.”

Winston stepped forward, his face devoid of emotions as he stared at Simon. After that, he placed his hand around Millie’s shoulder and pulled her close.

“Millie and I are still married. It’s not your place to interfere!” he uttered firmly.

Simon narrowed his eyes. He sized Winston up, then shifted his gaze to Millie, who wore a troubled

expression.

It seemed like Winston only remembered she was his wife when he needed to use her. So, Millie removed his hand and said, “Mr. Greer, you must be busy. I won’t disturb you any longer.”

Winston was taken aback. He could not believe Millie had pushed him away in front of Simon!

“Simon, my dad is upstairs. Let’s go,” Millie politely told Simon.

He immediately nodded and followed her into the inpatient department, leaving Winston alone at the

entrance.

Winston stared at Millie’s and Simon’s retreating figure with his jaw clenched. Suddenly, a surge

inexplicable anger rose from within him.

Millie called him “Mr. Greer“, yet she addressed Simon by his first name. How sweet!

He was convinced that her standards had dropped since leaving him. Winston fumed even more at

that thought.

Winston opened the car door and got in. With a troubled mind, he lit a cigarette. For some reason, he noticed himself becoming quick–tempered recently and would reach for cigarettes to calm himself

down.

His gaze drifted toward the inpatient department building in the distance. The thought of Millie pushing him away and smiling gently at Simon caused his chest to tighten, leaving him breathless.

He lowered the car window completely and rested his hand on the sill as cigarette ash scattered onto the ground.

With a frown, he was about to drive off when he noticed Millie’s ID card on the passenger seat. He reached over to pick it up, blowing a smoke ring from his mouth. NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.

Millie’s face lit up with a radiant smile on the ID card. Her features were delicate, and she appeared remarkably pure.

Winston could not help but think back to their university days. He used to play basketball on the court, and Millie would watch him play every day. She even brought him water and a towel, which warmed his heart.

Millie was beautiful and was always cheerful. Winston’s basketball buddies would always subtly ask him for her number. It was evident that they wanted to pursue her.

But their actions bothered him, so he forbade Millie from coming to watch him play basketball. To Winston’s surprise, she obeyed and never went to watch him play again after that.
