Winston took a deep breath and recalled what the others said. “Millie always followed Winston around but vanished the moment he was kidnapped!”

He raised his hand, unable to resist the urge to bite his fingertips, his gaze growing more complex.

Winston’s grip on the fork grew so tight that his fingertips paled. “Sit down!”

After she left, Winston pounded his fist on the table, consumed by fury. He massaged his forehead, trying to regain his composure, until his phone rang.
