Chapter 220
Hogan was feeling suspicious and came out just in time to catch the scene.
He reached out, pulling Lizetta into his arms, while grabbing Apollo’s wrist with his other hand giving it a twist and then shoving the guy away hard.
Apollo stumbled and fell to the ground with a loud crash.
“You alright?”
Hogan wrapped an arm around Lizetta’s shoulder, looking down at her with concern.
Lizetta had felt the wind from the slap coming her way; her face was a bit pale as she shook her head at Hogan.
But then something caught her eye, and she froze. Not far away, Remington was striding towards
them.
The guy had that usual icy–hot look and an air of casual elegance.
And right by his side, matching his steps, was Evelina.
Lizetta’s gaze lingered on the two side by side, her fingers curling into her palm.
“Mrs. Jolin, how could you guys come here and make a scene?” Eveline came over and grabbed Jolin, looking frantic and scolding her.
Jolin, as if seeing her own daughter, started to cry as she clung to Evelina.
“Eve, darling, you have to stand up for me. Your sister wants to take your brother abroad and doesn’t care if I live or die. Left here all alone – it’s just not right.”
“Mrs. Jolin, don’t cry. You must’ve misunderstood Lizetta. She’s kind–hearted; she wouldn’t just leave you in the lurch,” Evelina consoled Jolin while subtly throwing shade at Lizetta.
But Remington’s gaze didn’t waver towards anyone else; he walked right up to Lizetta and Hogan.
His eyes fixed on Hogan’s right hand, still resting on Lizetta’s shoulder, the chill in his gaze deepening as he barely curved his lips and said,
“Dr. White, you are really eager to lend a hand.”
Hogan didn’t move his hand away, looking back at Remington with a bland response, Mr. Dashiell I’m flattered.”
Seeing Lizetta allowing Hogan to hold her, Remington reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her gently to his side and said softly.
“Why didn’t you call me when trouble hit? Dr. White’s an outsider; can’t be good always bothering outsiders.”
Lizetta thought he was being ridiculous. They had already filed for divorce.
Wasn’t he an outsider here too?
Why should she call him about her problems? And with him bringing Evelina along, it didn’t seem

like he was here to help her.
More like he was here to back up Evelina and Jolin.
Lizetta felt today’s drama couldn’t be unrelated to Evelina. Had she lost her mind to notify Remington?

Lizetta pulled her hand free, “Did the Starlight Group go bust or something? Mr. Dashiell, you got too much time on your hands?”
Remington let go of Lizetta without making a fuss.
But the next second, he patted her shoulder twice.
Where he patted was exactly where Hogan’s hand had been, like he was trying to wipe off some dirt. After patting, his hand stayed there, not moving a possessive gesture.
Lizetta looked up, furrowing her brow, and Remington told her..
“Don’t talk nonsense. I still need the Starlight Group to provide for the family and for you. The Starlight Group isn’t going bust.”
Lizetta’s eyes widened.
What on earth was he on about? They were divorced. If he was providing for anyone, it was Evelina. What did it have to do with her?
“We’ve already…”
Lizetta tried to remind Remington, but he cut her off, looking up at Hogan and saying.
“Dr. White, you have already resigned from the hospital. Professionally, you’re no longer a doctor here, and personally, this is all our family business. We’d appreciate it if you could give us some space to sort this out ourselves. However, thanks for the help just now, Dr. White.”
