Chapter 3019
Chapter 3019
“Where are you going, Grandma May?” Josh asked when he saw that she was leaving.
“I've been away for so long and only just returned, so | want to meet up with my old friends to catch up with all the gossip and play some cards.”
She never put on the airs of a rich madam, so she got on particularly well with the employees’ mothers who lived at the foot of the hill.
Those old ladies loved gossiping with Grandma May too.
“You guys chat! I’m heading out. There’s no need to call me back once you guys start the barbecue party, just get someone to send me and my friends some of the food and I'll eat with them. There’d better be some steak!”
Serenity said, “Nana, you're getting on in years. You should cut down on red meat.”
“Oh, alright. I'll listen to you. If you tell me not to eat it, | won’t then,” Nana conceded.
“When | tell Nana not to eat red meat, she scolds me, but when Seren does it, Nana agrees right away,” Zachary grumbled. Grandma May was a typical example of someone who shunted their grandson once they had a granddaughter-in-law.
The old lady happily went on her way.
She favored her granddaughter-in-law—so what?
She had so many grandsons that they were not as precious anymore.
The lively day passed quickly.
By the time six o’clock rolled around, the sky had already darkened.
The three madams of the York family took Camryn with them to attend a banquet.
Callum walked them all the way out to the manor entrance and repeatedly reminded Rosella, “Mom, you have to watch over Camryn and not let her get bullied.”
“| know! I'll be the first in line to get even if anyone dares to touch my daughter-in-law!” Rosella was sick of hearing the same thing over and over again.
Callum even said, “How about | go with you guys?”

Rosella instructed the driver to start the car and rolled down the window before poking her head out to say to her son, “It's dark out and it’s cold too. If you have nothing better to do, go pick your nana up. She’s been out playing the whole day. I’ve never seen such a playful old lady who hates coming home so much.”
Callum made a resigned sound and watched the cars leave.
Camryn and Rosella were sitting in the same car. The blush never faded from her face as she listened to the conversation between her husband and her mother-in-law.
She really did not know what to say about Callum, but it felt really good to be so valued. From her husband to her parents-in-law, or even the other members of the York family, they all valued her very much.
Ever since she lost her biological father when she was two years old, she had been unwanted and bullied. Not a single whit of her biological mother’s love was given to her and she even nearly died multiple times at her mother’s hands.

At the thought of Carrie, Camryn thought of Mrs. Longbottom.
If the two were really one and the same, what was Carrie up to?
The car stopped at the foot of the hill.
Rosella wound the car window down and yelled at the few houses there, “Mom, it’s dark out now. Hurry up and go home!” Camryn watched with a slack jaw.
The women of her in-laws’ family had always seemed gentle and refined to her.

Grandma May responded. Camryn only heard it because she had good hearing.
